The Henson is the smoothest ride I've tried but I agree, you're definitely shaving the next day. Great price point for a CNC machined razor and more than fair price. For me, it's a good once in a while razor and def my travel razor. Beach Goer is a fantastic scent, one of my earliest acquisitions and will never be traded away!
I've been waiting to hear your opinion on the Henson. Thanks. I bought the wife a Henson and she loves it. I used it a few times and found it to be a fine razor---not my top pick, but a fine razor. I think the Henson would shine as a true beginner's razor that will also deliver for the experienced. I know I certainly would have enjoyed starting with it.
Nice comparison shave today. I also used my Henson this morning. I agree with compensating shaves. You can never tell the true differences between razors, I know I do pick ups until im satisfied with the results. For me, the end results is what matters most ! Enjoy the day Chris
Thanks for sharing this video. As you eluded to, The Henson medium would be a much better test against the timeless. Mild was designed mostly for heads, pits, legs and light, daily face shaving.
@@bradjantzi4452 I don't have a medium sadly. If you'd like to send one I'll certainly give it a go as long as I'm able to speak with absolute candor about the product. Thanks so much for the kind offer.
Still need to try my Henson medium. I’ve been enjoying that straight I revived last weekend. Great video brother. I enjoy blade feel and the feedback as well. I think one of the best in this area is the Blackbird. Steve
For me I found the Henson more efficient but I haven’t used the Timeless aluminum for months and to add not side by side . I do agree it does have more blade feel. I think it’s a .45 gap with positive blade exposure. Great points & comparison
Hensons look well built. Looks like the ‘aggressive’ version might be pretty nice. Timeless makes a really well made razor imo, I only have the brass and a couple ss plates, I really like that everything they make is interchangeable. I have such a hard time with blade neutral/numb razors, I always manage to get cuts or irritation with them. Have an excellent day cdb!
Nice shave CDB. Interesting comparison between the two razors. Definitely not surprised to hear the Timeless feels more efficient than the Henson, but both looked to to a good job.
I ordered 5 of Arsenal's samples in the middle of summer because the other ones were sold-out. I emailed them to ask when they would have them back in stock and they said they were doing the aftershaves at the time, so I've been checking back on their site every now and then, and they are still not in stock and you can't get samples of any of their newer scents either. I would really like to try all their offerings as samples before I pick a scent to go with. Also most of the time you can't get a soap and splash of the same scent at the same time 😑 Maybe the shave soap business is their hobby or something and are too busy to stock up all their scents at the same time? Or they don't want to offer samples anymore and are selling what they have and then that's it? The samples I did try are great scents, I currently have Retro Man in a bowl and I really like it. I hope they stock back up on them! Lol anyways...Have a good one man! Steve
Good comparison. It would be useful to know your thoughts about the Henson medium since it has more blade feel. I like the Henson and, like you, I find myself doing more buffing. But I do enjoy the milder shaves.
@@IAMCDB I think Henson is missing out on an opportunity. They should sell an option that includes the mild and medium plates. In fact, they could add the aggressive plate and have an adjustable :-)
I love that while everyone is doing Winter scents, you’re all Summer!! 😂 Nice comparison. If people start counting razor strokes like MLB does pitches, I’m going to lose my mind!!!!!
No No no. Try it! At least TRY IT. Do not rely on it. You can count razor strokes just to see if you find a contrast in some way, but to do a normal shave, counting razor strokes is not practical and not necessary.

well very nice razors indeed . i find for myself with a milder razor i may have to buff a bit more but as long as you go light i don’t get razor burn . that soap sent sounds very nice indeed . i have to say shaving with the shavette’s has given me a lighter touch with my de’s that’s for sure 👍👍👍
Hello Chris, nice vid on these two razors. I wanted to ask you about the ATT Calypso R1 aluminium razor. A while back you have a vid on it. I was interested in it. What do you think? Should I pull the trigger on it? Is it better than the Lupo aluminium? I would appreciate your opinion. Thank you
I prefer the Timeless Aluminum and the Lupo. Those are probably two of my favorite aluminum offerings. Whether they will be your preference I cannot say:)
Among 3 aluminium versions of Lupo, Henson(medium exposure), Timeless razor, if you rank them according to your preference? I already ordered Lupo aluminium.
Hi Chris nice comparison. Did your preference for more bladefeel changed after you started using straight razors? Or did you always liked a little more aggressive razors? Have a nice day greetings from the Netherlands.
I'd say over the years preference has been a gradual progression. I started out preferring mild razors, then medium, and now at least medium and highly aggressive. Straights and shavettes have had an influence on that for sure I think. Having said that, I can still get a great shave with just about any razor. I can use a mild razor and still get a great shave:)
@@IAMCDB IMHO the thing about wet shaving is variables, if u master pairing variables (in the wide sense of it); i.e. mild razors usually work with progressive cutting / 3 passes, while aggressive razors can settle with 2 passes (my personal preference & maybe that's the reason I don't like milds).. so make the right choice when it comes 2 pairing👍
I'm quite certain that I've tried well over 500 soaps over the years. I'm pretty sure I have a couple of hundred laying around right now and I've gotten rid of far more than I own:) Yes, many of them haven't been fruit scents:)

You have made multiple comments over the course of videos that you don't concern yourself with using summer scents in summer and winter scents in winter, etc. I can understand that sentiment well enough but, it seems like you use summer scents much more frequently. Is that an accident or maybe subconscious, or do you think you just prefer summer scents more so you lean more that way?
I'm in the habit of saying this as fragrance enthusiasts often look down their nose at folks who use scents that are 'out of season.' I typically don't like a lot of darker or earthy scents so I will use any type of scent at anytime. I just want to enjoy scents regardless of the seasons.
@@IAMCDB ok that makes sense. Obviously I am new here so I haven't watched everything yet (although I do watch a few old episodes each day in addition to your newest one). It seems like I've seen you praise scents like you just said you don't really like. Is that then, more of a "trying to be objective about what is a pleasant scent, but not your personal taste" or you do like it, you'd just prefer something else? Another question that is sort of related... Do you wear cologne and if so how do you go about choosing scents in shaving soap, cologne, deodorant, etc. that don't clash?
@@cameronmccoy5051 I don't always wear colognes but when I do I'd certainly work to make sure the aftershave matches or compliments the cologne. I wouldn't want a bunch of clashing.
