    Way back in the mid-90s, i was able to attend a day of excavating the remains of an incinerated house that was believed to belong to Theodosia Burr-Alston, digging through dirt for artifacts with Jim Michie. I only found nails and a few old glass and ceramic bottles, but that day was memorable and i will always remember getting to see the old family cemetery, and learning a lot more about the history of the area I grew up in

    Born and raised on the grand strand and have been to Huntington state park more times than I can count. As a child Atalaya castle very much fascinated me and while I knew
    the story to an extent, I’m happy to know the full fleshednout history of it. Thank you for this gift and rip the Huntington’s
