This place doesn’t look so bad. I have to admit I think the cookie cutter elevated houses later in the video look like handsome homes and are perfect for the type of person couple with one or two cars maybe a small dog, goes to work comes home and just leads a simple life but still close to the ocean lifestyle.
In the early 80s N. Myrtle Beach was starting to get its first big high rises. This will go that way too, and when it starts it will go fast. There seems to be a lot more multi-unit buildings several blocks away from the beach here.
As a local, I drive around Surfside simply because the cops are ticket happy, that's how the town makes their money. The place is full of a bunch of nosey Karen's. They went on a rampage trapping and killing all the outside and/or stray cats, and now they have big ass rats everywhere. And the police chief blew his brains out during a town hall a few years ago. But for the record, yes, there are less drug addicts. Ya know, if you tourists would stay in the resorts and not venture out into the hoods you'd have ALOT less problems.
Looks like nobody lives there .. I see many buildings that are empty. Who wants to retire to a place with all tourists coming and going then .. dead seasons with nobody around to talk to , hang with when you are retired.
It's small and clean.. now what is going on with the town GOVERNMENT. Police chief .. The forever pier. Seems factions in the gov are making moves _ wheelin and dealing. Someone's brother in law got connections.
Less drama? Meh... maybe watch some of Surfside's 'city' council sessions. What a bunch of loons, one of the consequences of which are their new ordinances re. dogs on the beach, which aren't posted at any of the public beach access areas. In a nutshell, you need to pay the 'city' of Surfside $10.00 for a permit/tag for each dog, and have proof of vaccination. If your dog does not have a permit-tag, it can be seized, detained at the shelter, and euthanized. Most visitors, in an area where you have lots of visitors, aren't going to be aware of this, because it's not posted... anywhere.

When I resided in Fayetteville, NC, Surfside had few houses in the 70s.
I bet
Great episode! I really appreciate the "Chris's Livability Score". I feel it is a lot more accurate than the usual suspects. Thanks!
Thank you!

The "Chris's Livability Score" gets better and better with every episode. Looking forward to when you do the Redondo Beach area of South CA.
That might be a long while away!
@@ChrisHarden LOL If you make it I'll show you around.................

Another wonderful video. Thank you!😊❤
Thanks for the kind words!
I went to Myter Beach with my gr aunt and uncle in 1962. The little beach cottage we stayed in doesn''t exist now and hasn't for some time.

Hopefully not. I like the low rise residential vibes.
No tall buildings due to city ordinances.
Thanks!
!
This area seemed much nicer. Thanks again.
Where is the best property values @ between the 2 ?
Wish you would have shown The BEACH❣️
Yeah… probably could’ve done that.

It was just unusually cold when I was there. That’s all.

What are you trying to say? There's not a zillion dope fiends in Surfside? Yeah, OK that's funny!

Hmm. Maybe I was wrong.
Surfside police suck!
