I love this video, makes me want to move from California to Berlin. What I love most is the vibrancy of Kavita's passion for food! Really makes me want to take a trip to Berlin now! Amazing!
Favorite episode so far and it really made me realize how much I miss living in Germany. Great people from all over the world, great food and I really miss being able to drink in a taxi.
wow this is great, compared to other chef's night outs, these people are really cool, very real and honest, man, i wanna go to germany and see for myself no
was für eine geiles Video. Handwerklich extrem gut gemacht. Leute und ihre Passion für Kochen und das in Berlin... 15 min zum Träumen und Genießen. Daumen hoch.
I kept thinking that the food market at the beginning with all the ethnicities reminded me so much of the West Side Market in Cleveland, Ohio USA. I was born in Cleveland in '57 to a working poor family, and our rare trips to this faraway market (we had become East Siders) was a thrill. If we'd saved the pennies, we could get a Sacher torte! Pierogies! Free range meats! Kirby cucumbers for making our own pickles! Goat milk! But the city, the country, was sliding ... I left Ohio totally in '77 and the States in '94. It had just become untenable. Good comment ... sad ...
I think it's nice to be reminded that there are other cultures. I'm glad you had trouble understanding it. Sometimes it's nice just to see friends speak to eachother and not worry about the content.
I don't care for this episode, but all you have to do is click the CC button for "closed captioning". Get it? So anyone who thumbed up this is dumb. Click the fucking caption button.
oesaone Well he'll probably just stay for a few days or weeks. But I know that feel bro. Been to the Canary islands for 3 months and it was amazing to have empty streets and space haha
one minus of this reporter is that she herself has cleary not a "chef" herself, which is kinda nice that the other reporters are more educated about food culture.
Great episode! I keep hearing good things about Berlin and would like to visit it very soon (from Canada.) My question is do German people look down upon non German speaking people, like if you're speaking English, would you get judged?
No, you won't get judged. In Germany almost all people under 40 speak a very good english - so you can get along without talking one word of english. A lot of people also speak french; these are the two languages most of the students learn in school.
Nah dude, especially in Berlin most people will welcome you with open arms. We love to practice (or show off) our English skills. You'll be absolutely fine.
I dont know if these guys above me are really from berlin.... I can say that you really shouldnt get to confident with the position of only speaking english with berlin guys because most people are angry that there are certain areas where you get greeted in english So just try to learn some words and dont always take advantage of the fact that most people in berlin speak english
We ate a ton of Asian street food in Berlin with Kavita Goodstar for our new #ChefsNightOut episode. Subscribe to Munchies here: bit.ly/Subscribe-to-MUNCHIES
Not really a fan of the overly hipster foodies and that girl was kinda annoying, but I love their food culture pioneering. This needs to happen in more places.
I saw the thumbnail with title of Streetfood in Berlin... I was curious to see what food are in Germany or Berlin. It turns out to be Asian food. Now ,don't get me wrong, I just find it kind of funny... but not in a bad way. The food that they were eating makes me drools.
Munchies needs to do a show where they hunt for Germany's best Doner one requirement it has to be a place where you have to go to the counter to order any sit down order off a menu bullshit don't do that.
Yea bud i can confirm they are. In fact its probably the country with the most horrendous hair styles iv ever come across. Saying that i'm bald so maybe my opinion is just me being envious that i cant join in with the trend.
Once a culture or civilization gets into food big time, you know they're in some form of death throes/collapse/decay. When people use buzzwords such as "hipster," you're sure of it; however, food markets with stalls for "little vendors" are as old as the hills, and where I live outside of Paris, we kind of stay stuck because our market is one of the largest in Europe and dates back to the Dark Ages. And yes, I think they pretty much are.
CuteCatFaith No, its more like there is more intercultural Exchange today than 50 years ago and that transitions into a more diverse Food Culture, Embracing food means going back to enjoying the simple things in life due to the overflowing of information in modern society. Cooking has a direct causal relationship between the work you put in and the "quality" you get out of it. Thats sadly becoming a rarity and so more and more people get interested in it to find simplicity. At least thats my take on it. I dont understand your "impeding doom" interpretation at all and you didnt seem to mind explaining it either so i cant really take it seriously.
Love how much fun they were having, best 'chef's night out' video!
I love this video, makes me want to move from California to Berlin. What I love most is the vibrancy of Kavita's passion for food! Really makes me want to take a trip to Berlin now! Amazing!
i'm pretty sure you have more food variety in ca than in berlin...at least for asian food
the most drunk chefs night out ive ever seen - i love it
one of the best Night Out episodes yet... another vid with this lady!
Favorite episode so far and it really made me realize how much I miss living in Germany. Great people from all over the world, great food and I really miss being able to drink in a taxi.
By far one of the best chefs night out eps so far
Thumbs up for a top quality munchies episode! Lovin these collaborative episodes
wow this is great, compared to other chef's night outs, these people are really cool, very real and honest, man, i wanna go to germany and see for myself no
I'm glad this video was released after I visited Berlin, I'm great with timing
Looks like people can get along. We need to party with the whole world for sure. Power to the Youth.

At first I was like, why is that little boy in the hat getting drunk? Then I realized I am more of an idiot than I thought I was.
You mean the lesbian that looks like ET?
+Thurl Bailey Yo're not an idiot, that lesbian intentionally looks that way...like a little boy......or she should take her barber to court!
So weird seeing Asians speaking german and not broken english.
Back home in Serbia they speak Hungarian and it's so weird hearing our mother language coming out of their mouths. Quite alien'ish heh.
Ha yeah pretty weird but good on them for assimilating to the country, language and culture.
Ignorant probably. Still fucking weird lol.
RedSkin SanDiego
he may be ignorant but is better than being racist by using "redskin"
Um... lol You will be surprised if you go to San Francisco or even California then... Fluent as can be
ugh thanks for making me miss Berlin, Munchies...
Great episode. Thanks for uploading!
Good job with the subtitles, guys.
Wow all looks so good. Great one Kavita :D
Thats soo cool at the end of the day you get to chill with your co workers and kick back with some drinks. Sign me up
Haha, Cool! I'm convinced xD I'm going there this Saturday xD
Awesome!!!Wunderbar guys!!
Good episode of Chef's night out
Germany is what America wishes it could be

You'e wrong.
best episode yet, and I've seen them all several thymes
went there on my berlin trip after seing this. great hall there at the end with all types of streetfood. GREAT!
hahaha loved it when he went "yeah buddehh, lightweight babehh"
Really great food scene in Berlin. I knew they have great food & great beer, obviously. Didn't realize it would be this diverse.
I believe 7:00 is kaoliang, "a strong distilled liquor made from fermented sorghum".
they really had fun!
Great episode, Berlin is just such an amazons city!
love your work sister
berlin looks so diverse an fun.
I tasted a slice from this pizza man. It was heavenly!
Love this concept..
Awesome episode! Kavita should feature on all munchies videos she was so funny!! Love Berlin!
this was crazy entertaining
Don't worry Munchies,I'm totally fluent in German.
There are subtitles.
I always check the captions or whatever for help with subtitling or explanations. A lot of people put them there, you just have to try.
I think it's nice to be reminded that there are other cultures. I'm glad you had trouble understanding it. Sometimes it's nice just to see friends speak to eachother and not worry about the content.

This one was a good Berlin episode! Keep it like that Munchies and always include an American, they know how to entertain.
We're all devo!
Just out drank all the other Chef's Night Out episodes!
It was an awesome experience there last thursday.
she rocks , berlin rocks , real !!!
Damn it I was just in Berlin last month, wish I had known about this. Amazing city.
Come again :D
no DONT COME HERE EVER AGAIN.
Have you guys had some relationship going on that didn't end well? haha
its just to full of people here. please dont come here.
oesaone
Well he'll probably just stay for a few days or weeks. But I know that feel bro. Been to the Canary islands for 3 months and it was amazing to have empty streets and space haha
Best Chef's Night Out yet. God Berlin is cool.
Nice video! There was kind of an Alice in Wonderland 'rabbit hole' moment after the 65% shots...fun night!
Hahahaha even the Germans know Ronnie Coleman @ 10:58 "yeahh buddayy...liightweight babeeyyy"
Love my Berliners! The most artistic city in Europe, if you haven't visited Berlin yet, you should.
Kavita is awesome
i want a new chefs night out every week!
one minus of this reporter is that she herself has cleary not a "chef" herself, which is kinda nice that the other reporters are more educated about food culture.
Is it just me or did all of the internet trolls call each other and meet in the comments section of this video?
Peter Duran aka the American's 👌.
So maybe I missed the street food in that video.
Other than the Turkish food there was no street food. At least I would not call it that.
Love diversity off food! That's just amazing! Just amazing...I'm always educated...
Vice needs to do a follow up segment called "the morning shits after",
I sometimes wonder if the modern chef knows words other than traditional and authentic to describe food
wow, i so long for food from germany again...reminds me of hessen 01-05
At 3.33 I was elated to see my favorite rum - Old Monk
hahaha die waren auf jedenfall gut dabei xD
wait... proper shots and proper beer??? THIS HAS TO BE IN EUROPE!!
I like how she was saying its a korean dish but handed them Japanese chopsticks that said arigatou on it lmao
Great episode! I keep hearing good things about Berlin and would like to visit it very soon (from Canada.) My question is do German people look down upon non German speaking people, like if you're speaking English, would you get judged?
no, most like to show off their english skills, don't worry

2rockiossi
lived in berlin for more than a decade and in different districts and never heard of that
Hipster overload!
Please do more munchies in germany! Do one in Frankfurt! :)
Kantstraße ist schon geil. Mag den asiatischen Einschlag, mit den Restaurants und kleinen Dekoläden.
Btw if you visit Berlin and visit the Kantstraß she mentioned, you have to go to Udagawa. Very nice Japanese imbiss/restaurant!
Nice night out episode & really fun watching indian girl speaking german//
We ate a ton of Asian street food in Berlin with Kavita Goodstar for our new #ChefsNightOut episode. Subscribe to Munchies here: bit.ly/Subscribe-to-MUNCHIES
She looks like the brown version of Elaine on Seinfeld
From my experience many US Americans waching this will be surprised by the lack of Lederhosen, Bretzel and Weisswurst :D
Not really a fan of the overly hipster foodies and that girl was kinda annoying, but I love their food culture pioneering. This needs to happen in more places.
whats in the sauce for wonton ? One of it must be MSG
A bar on the street where you just walk up and order shots? If your old enough to ask then you're old enough to drink
So weird hearing people casually speak German on Munchies
Love her laugh...
I saw the thumbnail with title of Streetfood in Berlin...
I was curious to see what food are in Germany or Berlin. It turns out to be Asian food. Now ,don't get me wrong, I just find it kind of funny... but not in a bad way. The food that they were eating makes me drools.
whats the name of the song at 1:20 ?
Hardcore devoted foodie galore
Man. I am seriously in love with Susie Patten.
I always thougt the comment section of vice wasnt that stupid and ignorant...but then I realized mostly americans are watching it, so it seems fine...
i wasn't expecting the only sausages to be eaten on this episode were from a esan thai place
does anyone know the name of the track which is played when they arrive for their pizza?
does anyone know what the song is that plays throughout the last 2 minutes?
Munchies needs to do a show where they hunt for Germany's best Doner one requirement it has to be a place where you have to go to the counter to order any sit down order off a menu bullshit don't do that.
This video made me feel super drunk and full.
why do they keep quoting ronnie coleman "lightweight baby, yeah buddy..."
Coming to Berlin...
Funny fact: no Berliner will ever go to this place, tourists only
UA-cam captions work alright, kinda strange that they didn't include subtitles with this one though
They did.
***** I think he's referring to subtitles included on the rendered video, it jarred me at first but the YT captions work well.
CuteCatFaith I think he's referring to subtitles included on the rendered video, it jarred me at first but the YT captions work well.
So interesting to see asian folks with a german accent. >
i thought i was watching can't pay we'll take it away for a second there
Guys shashlik is pretty much a Turkish a dish.
Huge Turkish presence in Deutschland since the early '70s ...
it's more of a typical dish of eastern eruope from moscow to kurdistan including balkan and every region has their own style
***** You've been able to get it in Amsterdam for decades ...
Dude that shit is in every cetral asian themed restaurant and greek place in the US....
Xavier Toussaint .....and most other Mediterranean and middle eastern places
Are bowl cuts for hair bangs popular in germany?
no....horrible haircut
Yea bud i can confirm they are.
In fact its probably the country with the most horrendous hair styles iv ever come across.
Saying that i'm bald so maybe my opinion is just me being envious that i cant join in with the trend.
8:05 yo wtf kavita is adorable..
are these german hipsters?

oh yeah the world is definitely fucked up.
thanks for the info
Josh Cook
Ha ha ha ha!!! :)

red stuff is rice wine infuse with herb aka yadong
This was one of the coolest, friendliest groups of people I've seen on Munchies. You see a lot of stuck-up, douche bag 30-somethings, but not here.
LMAO why does UA-cam's closed captioning work so well translating german to English, but doesnt work for shit when just going english to english???
Because youtube isn't doing it you halfwit, that channel owner has added them, ie vice.
my name is Mr Susan and now it is time for you to do the choosin'
This video won't load anymore.
Finally. someone who wears gloves.
How did that pizza at the end feed all those people?
They sure can drink, I lost count pretty soon
lol they cannot drink, wait till you go way up north in china, where they only drink that 65% shit and beer lol
