    Great explanation on the process.
I’ve chased this many of times over the last few seasons, and it’s frustrating.
The tripod downrange tip is excellent - I honestly never thought of this approach for a plumb line.

Great troubleshooting process dude. I also had scope issues this season during the IWI gas gun series. My vortex razor lht 4.5 22x50 lost zero after I knocked it over while working at home 2 days before match 3. Sent back to vortex. Went with a meopta optika 6 3-18x50 with the DLO mrad reticle for rest of season. Looking forward to your update. Next season can't come soon enough!

Thanks Kite! I knew something was up, and didn’t have time to troubleshoot until now. I can’t wait for next season too! How does the meopta glass compare to the vortex?

@Working Man Tactical the meopta lens engineering is such that it's materially brighter than than the razor. It's even brighter than my tract toric 4-20x50 which has Schott glass. I'm a huge fan of the meopta optika 6 line. They are sub $800 and are robust, clear, track perfectly, wonderful eyebox and eye relief (3.9" throughout mag range) and the DLO reticles are great for gas guns. Field of view is better on the razor lht vs the meopta 3-18 and the meopta could be a tad shorter in length-- its 14.6" compared to 13.7 on the tract toric 4-20x50 or the razor lht. Check out the review by C Does on the meopta optika 6 3-18x50. Nothing compares in their price point.

Bushnell Optics, even with still under warranty, I do hope that Bushnell repairs your scope. I sent Bushnell a spotter that cost me around $1000 new Bushnell Elite that was still under warranty but Bushnell would not repair it. Bushnell said cost too much to repair.
Additional: Wheeler Engineering scope leveling kit from Midway USA; it's a better deal for leveling rifle scopes. It is two pieces for the scope top and attachment to the barrel.

I hope so too! The wheeler kit is nice, but it looks like the turrets/caps are used to level everything. I purchased the Bushnell 3.5-21 HDMR2 from Midway on sale for a price too good to pass up. What happened to your spotter?

Today is Nov 28th ,. I watched a professional scope shop show how to level up the rifle and scope for a perfect vertical plum,. They discovered the same problem I discovered tonight with my own, my reticle is not plum inside of the scope , the problem is you can't dial straight up or side to side windage. My'n is only 2 or 3 degree's on Primary Arms 1x6 24 ACSS RETICLE ,. According to the video I watched this is more common than you would think ! I don't know if there's an acceptable deviation other than perfection I'll be calling Primary Arms tomorrow. ! DAMNIT. Here's another method to check for vertical plum of your reticle at home on your bench with your rifle perfectly level and your turrets level , flashlight backwards through the scope it'll show your radical on the wall at the rear of your rifle , I put a plum line on that wall and of course your Shadow of Your radical should fall on that plum line , that's how the shop showed doing it to double check the plumbness of the reticle inside the scope. ( My'n was the same way for now I split the difference). I'm not shooting that far , like you are

thanks for the response! I wouldn't be as concerned with a BDC reticle as much- Once you're zero'd you're just holding over, not dialing shots. Thanks for an alternate leveling method I'll try it out!

What's that rail you attached your rings on? I just ordered a cantilever mount yesterday and i could have just got that kind of rail on rail system

That’s a PRI 3 hole riser. It’s a rock solid mount making full contact with the upper receiver rail.

I have to believe 99% of people mounting a scope have no real clue as to what they are attempting to do. Much less knowing how to verify reticle position. Scope rings must fit and grip the tube. There’s a tool for that for every scope tube diameter. Just slapping the scope on and cranking down on the little bolts is asking for trouble most of time. Don’t buy cheap mounts/ rings ever. You will regret it. That’s just the beginning of doing it right.

There are many videos on the effects of scope cant. the easiest way to discover that is shooting 22lr at 100 yards. I like the MDT precision rifle rings. I think they offer a lot of value for the money.

Once again, seriously expensive kit set up with a el cheapo bubble level. I once bought a pack of 3 from a well known online store and non of them were even close to being accurate.

    • @workingmantactical
      @workingmantactical  Рік тому

Thats why I use a plumb bob to verify the scope. The small bubble level to verify the receiver works well enough, and is better than just eyeballing it. What level would you recommend?

@@workingmantactical Hi Working Man Tactical I now use a Moore and Wright ELT001X mini level (around £15 UK) the small plastic levels can be several degrees off. To check place the level on a flat surface and note the position of the bubble, turn the level 180 degrees and the bubble should be in the same position. Please note that check is only a basic check of accuracy as a high precision level can cost several hundred pounds. Cheers from the UK

@@paulmatthews2035 That's a great point about turning the level 180* to verify it! Moore and Wright make excellent precise tools!
