im pretty late but am glad i found these!! Before I get these though im worried i dont know how to load them :/ Can anyone point me in the right direction toward a tutorial or info on how to load patches into the P08? THANK YOU
There's a note attached to the download that will help a bit. Also, you'll need a way to hook your p08 via midi to your computer (since it doesn't have a USB in like many other Sequential boards do)....some sort of midi interface.
I love that Tonto patch man! It has an organ/strings/guitar pitch bend thing that is so cool. I wish I had a prophet though, I would buy that patch immediately haha.
Do these patches contain two sides, like A and B? Or are the 50 presets counting each as one, so potentially 25 separate presets with two sounds per preset? Hopefully this makes sense. Thanks for your time! Also, awesome patches!!
They all contain two sides, so it's 50 presets with two sounds per preset. On some patches, the B side is merely half of 'meant-to-be-stacked-sound', on some it's an 'alternative version', and on others B is meant to be a performance additive (ex. a bass patch that can be played underneath the main patch). I'd mainly just think of the patch-set as 50 A-side programs, all of which are added to slightly in some way by the B-side.
dude, i heard the Tonto preset and said to myself, this sounds like that one keys intro to the live Cory Henry video i saw once... and then ... what do you know! that's you! haha small world
Ive been struggling to hit the same expressiveness with my prophet 08 as Im able to with my guitar. I feel like the synthetic sound comes very flat when I play. What can I do to improve on this? The way you play sounds so soulful
Sorry for missing this comment! I'd mess around with adding velocity modulation to both the amp and the filter section. With guitar playing, there's "built in expression" because it's going to give you a different volume and a different sound depending on how you hit the string. The same thing can apply to synths, but you have to program the expression in. Hope that helps =)
I've always associated those detuned pads with 8th Grade Science Class too. Perfect name. Is there a software version of the Prophet 08 that I can use these patches on?
I don't belieeeeeeve so, but I'm not totally sure. You'll have to google whether or not P08 patches are compatible with the X4; I'm guessing they're not :-/
@@NickSemrad I know that P08, Mopho, Mopho X4 and Tetra share the same architecture except for the voices. I think I've loaded some patch for P08 in my Mopho but I'll check.
Russell Tunick They should work perfectly in the Rev2, but I’d recommend you pick up my Rev2 pack instead if you have that board, as these patches were originally designed for that board. It’s also available on my site :-)
They’re almost the same. There are slight differences but probably not enough to warrant you getting both packs. The Rev2 has a few more design options, so I got a little deeper on that pack than I could with the 08, but they’re super close.
Hey Eric, let me know if there's a different way I can send the files to you. There weren't designed with the Tetra in mind (nor do I own one), and have only been designed for/tested with the Prophet 08 as per the description. That being said, I'd like to make it work somehow for you. I wonder if they could be loaded via the SoundTower app or something like that? Maybe I can send you a few patches at a time or single patches or something? Let me know your thoughts and I'll do my best!
@@NickSemrad Thanks so much for chiming in. Good news! I managed to get them working. Tetra has the same architecture as the P08, just fewer voices, so every .syx designed for P'08s should load fine... the exception to this is usually if the designer has used a tool which specifies the synth in the syx export. Turns out, this was clearly not the case here, since some of the patches worked great out of the box. The main difference in the ones that weren't playing: Many of these patches require the modulation wheel to be partially up/open (like you have in your video) to make any sound! The Tetra doesn't have a modulation wheel, so testing them out with a sequencer/DAW made them look inoperative. So I'm in action! Just a shout out: It's amazing how good the P08/Tetra can sound in the hands of a good sound designer!
Patrick Boyer Basically, yes; they’ve been adapted for the 08, as some of the Rev2 patches were taking advantage of FX envelopes/wave shaping/other stuff that wasn’t available on the 08. I’d say they’re 95 percent the same, and the remaining 5 percent is 08 adaptations of patches that I made for the original factory stock Rev2 (I made 19-20 of the factory patches).
They will, but if you have a Rev2 I recommend you get my Rev2 set. It’s 95 percent similar to this but I built it to use the features on the Rev2 that aren’t present on the 08. Hope you dig it!
hi, I'm thinking of buying this patch, but I'm not skilled because it's my first time to buy patch .. :< so write a comment. I need sound editor software that I after purchasing these patches?
If you have the prophet 08, you won't need any software except for a free midi librarian program that can upload the patches to your keyboard. I provide all the instructions for that in a readme file that's attached to the download. I hope you like them!

Stevie Wonder vibes with that
Awesome! Thanks for those great patches. Just bought the set :). Take care
