    Honestly, you're my favorite SD channel. There's no judging, no always fake spotting, your training is honestly on point, it's focused on training and loving your dog. Can tell Astro loves you and "Daddo". 😅
    As for the barking when alerting, that's a handler preference. I personally don't allow barking or anything, but that's just due to my anxiety and wanting to keep a low profile. If you don't mind the barking, you could always get a patch that says "May bark to alert".

    • @NeverSilenceLove
      @NeverSilenceLove Рік тому +6

      I agree! The barking in my opinion depends on the handler as well. For instance he nose bumps to alert at first but when you don’t respond he barks to get your attention - depends if him barking to alert would be helpful to you. Would there be instances where his nose bumps don’t prompt you to stop the shaking and tune into your body? If so perhaps the barking as the shaking continues or escalates would be helpful to you. It’s all about you as a handler in my opinion!

    You two are doing soo well, your hard work truly shows!! Personally, I allow my sdit to vocalize when alerting me if I don't respond the first few times - kind of like training to be persistent in alerting? Though my sdit has learned that pawing my leg works just as well as vocalizing, so there are plenty of options based on preference. As humans, we tend to get distracted in certain situations, so sometimes to vocalizing can help remind us that our sd's are alerting. Just my personal preference, please train the way that works best for you and Astro ❤

    I was looking at a video from one year ago to now and the progression is amazing👏👏 from the heel to the dpt to the leaving food on the ground his progress is amazing and he is learning it very quickly and I love the the way your motivating him, just know that your hard work and dedication is paying off!❤❤ You can even see it in his face he looks older if you compare a video from one year ago to now!

    I love watching your videos, I think if the vocalization does not bother you and it’s only during tasks then I would say it’s not a big deal, some dogs bark to alert and his complaints still seem fairly quiet 😂❤

    My fav food is broccoli soup in bread bowls for dinner. It is all homemade and delicious. I like seeing your progress with the outing. It really is cool to see how chill he was when in the store and how nicely he heeled. I too am working on not treating my dog after every ten seconds. We are doing it so we don’t always rely on treats, but also so that she can build more focus in that time, generally not when in a heel. For example we took her to a local dog friendly plant store last week. She was working in the store on being off leash and calm. When we were checking out she had a down. She still got treats but it built her focus that I wasn’t rewarding so often. Also we stayed at check out talking to the very friendly owner for a couple of minutes so she got lots of chill time in a down.

      @@AstroFromTheBlue mine is just a personal dog. She could be a service dog behavior wise but since I don’t have any disabilities she is just a companion dog I take places with me as much as possible. Sorry for the confusion.

      @@AstroFromTheBlue yes. People always mistake her for a service dog tho especially since she wear an ‘in training do not pet’ vest. They always ask what job she does lol. For me tho it just shows how well trained she is. I love well behaved dogs in public because they are better doggy citizens.

    You guys are doing great! I think it's okay if he gives a small bark if the shaking behavior doesn't stop after his first or second alert. I met a gentleman with a PTSD dog who was specifically trained by veteran PTSD service dog specialists to give a small bark if someone was approaching him from behind

    i love enchiladas they are so good. Its amazing how much Astro has changed in the past few months! For the barking its up to you if you like it or not, personally it makes my anxiety sky rocket but many people have barking as an alert, you should get a patch for it so that people know that its an alert and not him being disruptive! i love your videos as always! your doing amazing Astro is doing amazing i cant wait for the next one!

    So I’m the Ada a service dog cannot bark in stores as it is a disruption to other customers so I think maybe some more training with shaking before practice shaking in public 🫶🏼
