One of my favorite things to do for when people ask my sd name is, I trained him with a fake name. So when they ask I say Luke, when in reality he thinks that's just his focus command. So he'll stare at me and completely ignore them lol.

When strangers approach me and my service dog, I never stop to chit chat, I like keeping it a drive-by talk. No one likes “walk & talks” with a stranger. Best life-hack ever lol
when people approach to tell you about their dogs / unwanted conversations i usually just respond with “oh that’s so cool! i’d love to chat, but my dog is working right now / i’m in a bit of a hurry” it usually gets the point across and i haven’t had too many people who have found it to be rude
I've been working on training my dog on my own for Autism/ADHD/Anxiety related tasks and hopefully in the future, migraines. I have been hesitating to put a SD vest or leash on her though because of the interactions. I keep worrying I won't be able or willing to handle them like the traditional professional SD owner is supposed to. She is an exceptionally gorgeous and unique looking dog so people are constantly coming up to us. She also loves attention and will even get depressed without it. But I've also noticed that has its upsides: I'm normally really bad at meeting and talking to people so she has helped to bring me social interactions. I also noticed she's really good at cheering them up or calming them down which then makes me happy in return. My dog is super well-behaved and can still perform her tasks when needed but I get worried the dog-training world will judge me if I let her seek belly-rubs while at the coffee shop.
Talking to strangers with your service dog is a very good training opportunity for you and your service dog! I have selective mutism and social phobia so I get pretty scared but I've noticed that I have gotten a lot better at talking due to that.
Thank you for being realistic with your videos currently working with a trainer for my puppy to become a service dog. I have anxiety which prevents me from leaving the house alone. So watching those helped me understand so much. How a dog can bring you to the present and help you regulate. ❤❤❤

ahh yes I relate so much I get so uncomfortable in the public conversations where you are trying to train, expressly tell someone you're training or have your dogs assistance tags clearly showing - and people still try approach your dog, or let their dog come up, or their kids etc. but I have never thought of not telling people her name.. because I feel like that would be a good deterrent. Also wow astro is AMAZING you are such a dedicated handler, it is really motivating!
Oh my gosh the man was so inconsiderate and oblivious to the fact that you didn’t wanna keep talking. That’s great that he was able to keep the DPT for so long being a first time in public my SD does it with it home but we’re still working on a transfer to when we’re out

When people won’t let up the conversation, I just say something alone the lines of ‘okay we’ll see you later!’ Or at the beginning if possible I just keep walking whilst we ‘exchange pleasantries’ because stopping can give off the vibe that you do want to talk… even though in situations like yours in this videos I personally thought it was clear you’d rather not have the conversation! People just need very clear signals or else they miss them unfortunately! Amazing how the other SD handler caused so much distraction to you and yours ! That’s so disappointing You guys did great as a team as always , and I hope you are feeling better from this trip 💕💕 I’ve had to learn to be more stern with people than I would like to be, but sometimes you just have to or else we’d never be left alone ! It’s really hard to get all the attention that an SD brings but they are so worth it 💕

7:49 i say "we are in the middle of something sorry but we have to go we are in a hurry." then they will usually leave you alone. also give them a fake name so when he will say it astro focuses on you not "who ever the person is calling to"
Thank you so much for expressing how you feel about when people approach you! It helps me to better know how and how not to behave around other SD teams in public. It also helps me to know what I should expect when/if I am able to get a service dog in the future. You are an inspiration to me because you are able to train Astro as your SD, it helps me to think that it might be possible for me as well. I also struggle a lot with anxiety, so it is nice to see that you can train him yourself despite your struggles. You might be able to say," It's nice to hear about your dogs, but I'm busy right now, could you let me go?" I am not sure if that sounds rude or not, but that is a possibility. I loved this video. It really helped me feel like training a SD is within reach. And seeing you do DPT in public was really helpful and makes it feel safe to try it in public instead of just at home.
for the talking thing, i'd respond to the last thing they said and then go 'i really have to go now/im in a hurry", it really freaks me out to have to confront people when they're trying to make conversation but i find ripping off the bandaid and then moving on is easiest (though it feels hardest in the moments). also, dont be afraid to just walk away! one day someone might be adamant that they talk to you so you can just smile and go 'uh huh.' while walking away. usually then they get the memo also, the other SD handler made me uncomfortable lol i could only imagine what it was like for you! the way they were gawking over astro and high pitched 'aww-ing', and then talking to you while he was clearly getting excited? big red flags (personality-wise). ouchh
Man, I’ve hardly ever had to deal with people coming and talking to me and Suki thankfully…. You guys seem to have it happen a lot, and that seems pretty stressful! At least Astro gets good desensitization! You guys did really good as always, and you handled the situations pretty well!

I definitely end up in conversations like that! Some people are just so focused on talking with you that they don’t realize what is happening. Anyway, I wanted to say that I’m learning a lot from watching your videos, because we are in similar places with our training. Everyone loves to ask if my dog is a poodle or a poodle, and then we’re stuck in conversation 😂
You and Astro are doing wonderful!! Astro did so well. You handled the man outside talking to you as well as the person inside who walked over to talk to you very well. Just a suggestion that my daughter uses when approached by people asking what her SD's name is .. she came up with a fake name to give them. This way the person can use it all they want and the dog completely ignores it. Astro did amazing even though that man was rude to be making all those noises and whatnot at him. That kind of stuff even irritates me when I'm out with my daughter and her SD. Having been personally training dogs for over 20 years there have been times I have had to step in and tell them to stop because it's against the law and my daughter could sue them if she so chose to because distracting a Service Dog is a federal crime. Keep up the good work!

my favorite comment from the general public is "my dog is actually a service dog too" then you would know proper "service dog etiquette". while training in home depot, i have gotten many a comment, "i wish my dog acted like that, he/she is actually a service dog too" 🙄
however you are doing amazing, i cannot get my SDIT pup to down stay for the life of me LOLOL, then again weve only been working on service work for a week or two

I just went to B&N with my SDiT last weekend to do settle training, but they didn't have any chairs for me to sit so that was a bust 😅 Astro did GREAT when they guy was talking to you and distracting him! I know you mentioned you're training, but at least from what I heard in the video, you didn't actually mention he was a service dog. Some people might not be able to see or read that part of his leash, so def don't hesitate to tell them. My pup wears a red vest, and I've noticed as soon as someone sees it or I mention she's in training to be a service dog, they back off. But kinda weird of the service dog handler to approach you too lol

7:45 “how do I politely tell people I don’t want to have these conversations?” GIRL!! I wish I knew 😩 they don’t seam to understand how hard it is to talk to them while timing rewards and corrections with your dog, and for whatever reason a lot of the time the conversation is like really depressing and pointless, (usually talking about the dogs they had that died or something) I just never understood it, it’s like small talk, but 9/10 ALWAYS depressing... 🤦♀️
He is doing so so good I'm very proud of him!!! At the end when he did a anxiety alert and he booped you with his nose how did you train him to do that bc I would love for ivy to alert like that. She paws my leg to alert to anxiety but her claws kinda hurt lol

hey there curious at what point did you feel comfortable using the service dog leash covers? like did you have a specific metric goal to reach before entering more non pet friendly stores? i'm also training my service dog myself and is pretty well mannered as far as the CGC goes minus the grooming reqs. i'm wondering what kind of metrics others are using before using these "SD" indicators to go into public spaces. !! Hi, I had to use the leash covers from day one. Without them, people would constantly approach us! Hmm, I made sure that astro was able to ignore people even if they talk to him. Hello! I'm in the middle of training my service dog, and when I am in a busy/loud area she gets pretty distracted, barely looks at me(we've been trying to work on it, it's gotten better, but I still need some tips on how to train a long watch like what your dog is doing.), And she is slightly anxious by all the movement and sounds (how do I build confidence, and is there a way to do it at home for when it's cold? Basically this video but in more depth?). It would be much appreciated, and very helpful ❤️❤️

I think she means that over a long period of time you have to build your value in your dog's eyes. The way you do that is by transferring the value of different things the dog likes to you. So when you ask your dog to do stuff then give him a treat, then the value of the treat is transferred into doing what you want, and doing what you want becomes valuable to the dog. I can't remember what the concept is called or the exact wording, but I think basically it says that in order for that value transfer to occur, doing the thing he's less likely to do normally has to predict the thing he's more likely to do. Like if he's super likely to eat a treat if you hand it to him, but not that likely to idk tapdance randomly, but if he does randomly tapdance, and if when he tapdances it predicts that you will hold out a treat and he will eat it, then that will make him more likely to tapdance in the future. So a common way to train dogs is to arrange a "coincidence" that makes the dogs accidentally do what you want, then you can give him a treat and it will make it more valuable to do that thing. And she is right that it has to be more valuable to do the thing you want than it is to engage with the environment, or the dog will get distracted. So if you've adopted a dog 2 weeks ago and you only just started training, then when you go somewhere busy, the environment will be wayy more rewarding to the dog than listening to you will be. After like a year of training though, and after you're past the learning curve and your commands have become super valuable to your dog to listen to, then maybe a busy environment will be less valuable to the dog than listening to you. Your instincts about jumping around and making noise are right, because lots of dogs get really excited about movement and noise, they think it's super fun, and that will make you more valuable to the dog sometimes! But sometimes it's not good because you're trying to get them to do a calm behaviour like a down stay. When you want to hype your dog up, you can act hyper, and when you want him to calm down you can calm him by moving slowly and talking softly and slowly. So in order to build up a calm behaviour, you have to pick an environment where you are the most interesting thing there, like maybe the bathroom with all the garbages and toilet paper taken out so there's no distractions. Once he's good at that, he will be able to do tougher environments like the whole house blinds closed, then whole house blinds open, then front yard, then parking lot, then hardware store. (pet store is s tier, probably the hardest environment, so you might wanna leave that until he's an expert.) While you're climbing that staircase, you're building the value of doing the calm behaviour all the time, and it's all feeding into more value for being with you and listening to what you say 😊 @@arishartman3881
hey ! i get that it could be annoying to you when people comes over to talk to you about astro especially since hes a service dog but maybe you could just straight up say to the person that you appreciate it but he is a service dog and he is actually working right now so you don't have much time you may know this but when people talk to you about him or their dogs, it's in a good attention, maybe they didn't clearly saw the leash or maybe they did lol, but i get why people are coming over, astro such a pretty dog and seems so well behave so people are interested in him and want to have a talk about dogs you know, so if you don't want to have this convs just say that to them, it's not because you refuse something that youre mean ! anyway still sch a good video as always loved it, love seeing him progressing it's amazing !❤
Unfortunately alot of times even if you do it nicely people get an attitude and just won't go away or will go to the manager or an employee and tell them that your service dog did something inappropriate out of spite when that didn't even happen. I literally had a 12 year old try for a good 30 minutes try to get my service dogs attention only to fail and then go tell a librarian that she jumped up on him which she didn't. This has happened with adults as well unfortunately. Ppl mess with SDs of all sizes but let me tell you they think it's sooooo cute to see and mess with a toy breed SDs even more like they're hoping it messes up so they have that excuse to mess with them.

This happens to me way too often. I say sorry we can’t talk right now because we are training. If they continue, say it again and walk away. It’s just like training the dog. If they don’t listen the first time, they get a correction the second time, which is loss of the conversation and being rejected by you walking away. I know it takes away from what you were doing, but it’s best for you and the dog mentally at that point. You can always go back to the car, drive for a couple min, and then try again at the store later. In this case he was at the store so I honestly would have not done the training. I’ve been battling with anxiety and PTSD most of my life and used to be like you, staying in uncomfortable situations to not be rude to the other person. I’m 33 now and a psychologist now and have finally been getting more comfortable with being assertive with people even if it’s rude to them, and sometimes just letting it go and leaving situations and trying again another time. He was feeling entitled. He knows what he does. He does this regularly so as much as he gets away with it like he did this time, he also does experience people telling him off and walking away while he is talking. So it wouldn’t be his first time and he should expect it honestly. Your dog did amazing by the way, but staying in the uncomfortable situation retraumatizes you nervous system and can hurt progress you are making. Great video and keep up the good work ❤
Oof I feel ya! I have a 1 year old Australian Shepherd and I am now having big struggles with mediating people around her. We are around my family the most and I never really thought having full access to them so early would cause problems. I since realized it's becoming a problem and have tried to create boundaries with them, telling them over and over again ( please don't great her by flailing your arms around and having a high pitched voice) be calm and collected. Because she then gets excited, b lines it to them & jumps on then right away..( I try to leash her before this happens, but doesn't always go as planned) I've restated, restated this and it's always an excuse. " Well I like it when she jumps on me" " you try to control what she does to much" " she jumps because she doesn't have enough freedom" No it's because she doesn't know boundaries with people anymore. BECAUSE she had too much freedom. It's hard sometime too when you're out in public and somebody is walking up to your dog before they even open their mouth to ask permission. I am at the point where I am done being nice, it's exhausting and it wasted time to stop the action.
Usually I say "man I'm so sorry but I'm on a tight schedule today, i have to *i make up something mildly important*, good talk tho, see ya!" And then I actually just leave 😂
I know this is hard to do specially as a new sd handler you can always say to the person if that are trying to distract him you can tell them please don't talk to him he is a service dog or say please don't make noises at him he is a sdit

Question. Am I able to get a dog to train to be my service dog? (I have anxiety and get stressed when ppl get to close also I have social anxiety and most of the time when I get yelled at or talked to by someone I also start shaking and get super stressed )
My go to line is "I apologize. I do not mean to be rude but I am in the middle of his/her training so I would greatly appreciate it if you don't distract us."

In the us not all of the states allow sdits in public but in most states they do. Also in Canada they don’t allow a sdit in public. They need to take a PA test and then they get a certificate/a piece of paper that says they’re a service dog unlike the US papers for service dogs do not exist and they are scams
It's so aggravating when every person who passes you wants to spend half an hour talking when they wouldn't give you the time of day if your dog weren't with you. On the other hand, you dont want to be so standoffish that people feel they can't approach you at all. We need relationships too! It's a crazy tightrope dance! 🤔
I feel so much for you!! I'm thinking of training my Aussie to be my service dog for my anxiety. Do you think it helps? I get anxious in social situations. It's bad enough that I will sometimes get tunnel vision when I know I have to be in an awkward social situation. And as a dog trainer, by the way, you are doing so so well with Astro! Im adopting a puppy for service. People who interrupt my day can trigger episodes so im going to train her to bark on command no doubt. People don’t respect the handler smh
I personally just ignore folks who try to come up and talk to us unless its a staff member of a store or something in case they want to ask the two questions. You can also try giving them a weird stare with out any other cues. People tend to feel awkward at that point and wander off. For people trying to pet my dog with out permission I very loudly say "No Touchy! Thats a felony." and then ignore them trying to argue with me, unless its a little kid and then I do the usual "Please dont touch! " I just dont have time to be dealing with the general publics invasiveness and I am hoping by just straight up ignoring people flat out I can try to make people understand some handlers would really rather not be bothered. We are also getting some leash wraps that say "Do not approach, Handler needs space"

I’ve had to learn to be more stern with people than I would like to be, but sometimes you just have to or else we’d never be left alone ! It’s really hard to get all the attention that an SD brings but they are so worth it 💕

Thank you so much for expressing how you feel about when people approach you! It helps me to better know how and how not to behave around other SD teams in public. It also helps me to know what I should expect when/if I am able to get a service dog in the future. You are an inspiration to me because you are able to train Astro as your SD, it helps me to think that it might be possible for me as well. I also struggle a lot with anxiety, so it is nice to see that you can train him yourself despite your struggles. You might be able to say," It's nice to hear about your dogs, but I'm busy right now, could you let me go?" I am not sure if that sounds rude or not, but that is a possibility. God bless you and help you along your life's journey!

for the talking thing, i'd respond to the last thing they said and then go 'i really have to go now/im in a hurry", it really freaks me out to have to confront people when they're trying to make conversation but i find ripping off the bandaid and then moving on is easiest (though it feels hardest in the moments). also, dont be afraid to just walk away! one day someone might be adamant that they talk to you so you can just smile and go 'uh huh.' while walking away. usually then they get the memo
also, the other SD handler made me uncomfortable lol i could only imagine what it was like for you! the way they were gawking over astro and high pitched 'aww-ing', and then talking to you while he was clearly getting excited? big red flags (personality-wise). ouchh

Man, I’ve hardly ever had to deal with people coming and talking to me and Suki thankfully…. You guys seem to have it happen a lot, and that seems pretty stressful! At least Astro gets good desensitization! You guys did really good as always, and you handled the situations pretty well!

I definitely end up in conversations like that! Some people are just so focused on talking with you that they don’t realize what is happening. Anyway, I wanted to say that I’m learning a lot from watching your videos, because we are in similar places with our training. Everyone loves to ask if my dog is a poodle or a poodle, and then we’re stuck in conversation 😂

You and Astro are doing wonderful!! Astro did so well. You handled the man outside talking to you as well as the person inside who walked over to talk to you very well. Just a suggestion that my daughter uses when approached by people asking what her SD's name is .. she came up with a fake name to give them. This way the person can use it all they want and the dog completely ignores it. Astro did amazing even though that man was rude to be making all those noises and whatnot at him. That kind of stuff even irritates me when I'm out with my daughter and her SD. Having been personally training dogs for over 20 years there have been times I have had to step in and tell them to stop because it's against the law and my daughter could sue them if she so chose to because distracting a Service Dog is a federal crime. Keep up the good work!

my favorite comment from the general public is "my dog is actually a service dog too" then you would know proper "service dog etiquette". while training in home depot, i have gotten many a comment, "i wish my dog acted like that, he/she is actually a service dog too" 🙄
however you are doing amazing, i cannot get my SDIT pup to down stay for the life of me LOLOL, then again weve only been working on service work for a week or two

Astro did GREAT when they guy was talking to you and distracting him! I know you mentioned you're training, but at least from what I heard in the video, you didn't actually mention he was a service dog. Some people might not be able to see or read that part of his leash, so def don't hesitate to tell them. My pup wears a red vest, and I've noticed as soon as someone sees it or I mention she's in training to be a service dog, they back off.
But kinda weird of the service dog handler to approach you too lol

I wish I knew 😩 they don’t seam to understand how hard it is to talk to them while timing rewards and corrections with your dog, and for whatever reason a lot of the time the conversation is like really depressing and pointless, (usually talking about the dogs they had that died or something) I just never understood it, it’s like small talk, but 9/10 ALWAYS depressing... 🤦♀️

hey there curious at what point did you feel comfortable using the service dog leash covers? like did you have a specific metric goal to reach before entering more non pet friendly stores? i'm also training my service dog myself and is pretty well mannered as far as the CGC goes minus the grooming reqs. i'm wondering what kind of metrics others are using before using these "SD" indicators to go into public spaces. I'm in the middle of training my service dog, and when I am in a busy/loud area she gets pretty distracted, barely looks at me(we've been trying to work on it, it's gotten better, but I still need some tips on how to train a long watch like what your dog is doing.), And she is slightly anxious by all the movement and sounds (how do I build confidence, and is there a way to do it at home for when it's cold? Basically this video but in more depth?). It would be much appreciated, and very helpful ❤️❤️

I think she means that over a long period of time you have to build your value in your dog's eyes. The way you do that is by transferring the value of different things the dog likes to you. So when you ask your dog to do stuff then give him a treat, then the value of the treat is transferred into doing what you want, and doing what you want becomes valuable to the dog. I can't remember what the concept is called or the exact wording, but I think basically it says that in order for that value transfer to occur, doing the thing he's less likely to do normally has to predict the thing he's more likely to do. Like if he's super likely to eat a treat if you hand it to him, but not that likely to idk tapdance randomly, but if he does randomly tapdance, and if when he tapdances it predicts that you will hold out a treat and he will eat it, then that will make him more likely to tapdance in the future. So a common way to train dogs is to arrange a "coincidence" that makes the dogs accidentally do what you want, then you can give him a treat and it will make it more valuable to do that thing. And she is right that it has to be more valuable to do the thing you want than it is to engage with the environment, or the dog will get distracted. So if you've adopted a dog 2 weeks ago and you only just started training, then when you go somewhere busy, the environment will be wayy more rewarding to the dog than listening to you will be. After like a year of training though, and after you're past the learning curve and your commands have become super valuable to your dog to listen to, then maybe a busy environment will be less valuable to the dog than listening to you. Your instincts about jumping around and making noise are right, because lots of dogs get really excited about movement and noise, they think it's super fun, and that will make you more valuable to the dog sometimes! But sometimes it's not good because you're trying to get them to do a calm behaviour like a down stay. When you want to hype your dog up, you can act hyper, and when you want him to calm down you can calm him by moving slowly and talking softly and slowly. So in order to build up a calm behaviour, you have to pick an environment where you are the most interesting thing there, like maybe the bathroom with all the garbages and toilet paper taken out so there's no distractions. Once he's good at that, he will be able to do tougher environments like the whole house blinds closed, then whole house blinds open, then front yard, then parking lot, then hardware store. (pet store is s tier, probably the hardest environment, so you might wanna leave that until he's an expert.) While you're climbing that staircase, you're building the value of doing the calm behaviour all the time, and it's all feeding into more value for being with you and listening to what you say 😊 @@arishartman3881

you may know this but when people talk to you about him or their dogs, it's in a good attention, maybe they didn't clearly saw the leash or maybe they did lol, but i get why people are coming over, astro such a pretty dog and seems so well behave so people are interested in him and want to have a talk about dogs you know, so if you don't want to have this convs just say that to them, it's not because you refuse something that youre mean !

Unfortunately alot of times even if you do it nicely people get an attitude and just won't go away or will go to the manager or an employee and tell them that your service dog did something inappropriate out of spite when that didn't even happen. I literally had a 12 year old try for a good 30 minutes try to get my service dogs attention only to fail and then go tell a librarian that she jumped up on him which she didn't. This has happened with adults as well unfortunately. Ppl mess with SDs of all sizes but let me tell you they think it's sooooo cute to see and mess with a toy breed SDs even more like they're hoping it messes up so they have that excuse to mess with them.

Personally in france service dogs aren’t that common i think, ive only saw them with blind person and people respect that but can’t talk on service dogs for anxiety for example…

This happens to me way too often. I say sorry we can’t talk right now because we are training. If they continue, say it again and walk away. It’s just like training the dog. If they don’t listen the first time, they get a correction the second time, which is loss of the conversation and being rejected by you walking away. I know it takes away from what you were doing, but it’s best for you and the dog mentally at that point. You can always go back to the car, drive for a couple min, and then try again at the store later. In this case he was at the store so I honestly would have not done the training. I’ve been battling with anxiety and PTSD most of my life and used to be like you, staying in uncomfortable situations to not be rude to the other person. I’m 33 now and a psychologist now and have finally been getting more comfortable with being assertive with people even if it’s rude to them, and sometimes just letting it go and leaving situations and trying again another time. He was feeling entitled. He knows what he does. He does this regularly so as much as he gets away with it like he did this time, he also does experience people telling him off and walking away while he is talking. So it wouldn’t be his first time and he should expect it honestly. Your dog did amazing by the way, but staying in the uncomfortable situation retraumatizes you nervous system and can hurt progress you are making. Great video and keep up the good work ❤

Oof I feel ya! I have a 1 year old Australian Shepherd and I am now having big struggles with mediating people around her. We are around my family the most and I never really thought having full access to them so early would cause problems. I since realized it's becoming a problem and have tried to create boundaries with them, telling them over and over again ( please don't great her by flailing your arms around and having a high pitched voice) be calm and collected. Because she then gets excited, b lines it to them & jumps on then right away..( I try to leash her before this happens, but doesn't always go as planned) I've restated, restated this and it's always an excuse. " Well I like it when she jumps on me" " you try to control what she does to much" " she jumps because she doesn't have enough freedom" No it's because she doesn't know boundaries with people anymore. BECAUSE she had too much freedom. It's hard sometime too when you're out in public and somebody is walking up to your dog before they even open their mouth to ask permission. I am at the point where I am done being nice, it's exhausting and it wasted time to stop the action.
Or I should say mediating her around people

In the us not all of the states allow sdits in public but in most states they do. Also in Canada they don’t allow a sdit in public. They need to take a PA test and then they get a certificate/a piece of paper that says they’re a service dog unlike the US papers for service dogs do not exist and they are scams
It's so aggravating when every person who passes you wants to spend half an hour talking when they wouldn't give you the time of day if your dog weren't with you. On the other hand, you dont want to be so standoffish that people feel they can't approach you at all. We need relationships too! It's a crazy tightrope dance! 🤔

Im adopting a puppy for service. People who interrupt my day can trigger episodes so im going to train her to bark on command no doubt. People don’t respect the handler smh
Kinda disapointed in Zulu's handler. They understood you were training but continued to interrupt you.
I personally just ignore folks who try to come up and talk to us unless its a staff member of a store or something in case they want to ask the two questions. You can also try giving them a weird stare with out any other cues. People tend to feel awkward at that point and wander off. For people trying to pet my dog with out permission I very loudly say "No Touchy! Thats a felony." and then ignore them trying to argue with me, unless its a little kid and then I do the usual "Please dont touch! " I just dont have time to be dealing with the general publics invasiveness and I am hoping by just straight up ignoring people flat out I can try to make people understand some handlers would really rather not be bothered. We are also getting some leash wraps that say "Do not approach, Handler needs space"
