There are small glands under the front "armpits" of a woodchuck that you want to remove. They impart a funky flavor, as does the skin itself. There's plenty of fat on the meat itself and it is much more palatable and even pretty darn good, if you skin it and remove those glands. Speaking from experience. Growing up on the farm in western PA, we actually ate woodchucks regularly. It is like a fatter, rabbit and much better eating if you follow those 2 steps.
I loved your point that factory farming for vegitation is as bad as the meat industry! Homesteading and hunting and not depending on any big industries is the ultimate key to our future!
38:07 "Someone's getting a crunchy surpriiise" Omfg, I love it. These guys are true legends. This is legit. So legit. Amazing in so many ways, Real men.
Just a tip from a lifelong avid fishing fanatic, your spinning reel needs to be filled to just about the edge of the spool, that way will give you longer, smoother casts.
What do you think with bait casters? I have a cheaper one and a very nice one, I've tried every combination of pound test, line amount, etc. I can still only get a clean and far cast with a heavier lure such as whopper plopper. Worms are hopeless even with weights.

Recommend you be careful when eating stomach especially if it still has it's contents. Cook it well, because you can get worms/parasites that burrow into the stomach lining.
The minnow soup might’ve been the culprit but if you don’t thoroughly cook wild mushrooms it will have the same effect. Great video, very entertaining!

Im guessing these guys are what would be called "professional" foragers/ wild food gatherers, or whatever. I think the film shows just how difficult it would be for a "normal " everyday person to live off the land. It's said , in a SHTF scenario, all wildlife, ie deer, foxes, rabbits etc. would be depleted within 6 weeks❗️So again, living off the land is NOT cracking a beer and eating a huge steak, having a good old time in the woods. Its a scenario we do to want to ever have to face.😳 Thank you for making this important video.
I have watched all of the Wilderness challenges. Jeremy and you have the best chemistry. I enjoy the longer videos for sure. So always come back and rewatch them. Bonus to Jeremy for the Primus reference 😂
I love watching your videos, it reminds me of my childhood growing up on Leech Lake Minnesota. Love smoked white fish and bear meat is my favorite red meat. I don't know if you ever heard of going sucker grabbing but we used to do it annually when they are spawning and you could just reach under the bank of the river edge and stick a finger in their mouth and fling them up on the shore. We would end up smoking 500 suckers in our closet sized smoke house and there is nothing better than fresh hot smoked sucker right out of the smoke house. And they have a lot of fat for a fish. Keep showing the younger generation how to live, you guys rock.

When it comes to tiny critters it's recommended you fry them and add spices post or near the end of trying. Boiling is usually a bad idea unless your are making a strew which would brew for a long time. It's always good to have lots of spice or seasoning on hand hence why the trade was so popular back in the day.

Find 100 % alcohol or as close as possible enough to submerge your camera completely. Soak for 20-30 minutes then let air dry for a few days. The alcohol will remove all moisture from the camera as well as desolve any minerals left behind from the water. It is not the water that does the damage but the minerals in the water.
