    Wow, I didn't realize Jamie replaced Kurt, and Kurt replaced Jamie. This sport really does come full circle.

    Jaime has always struck me as one of the most genuine guys in the sport. If there’s a nicer guy I’m surely not aware of them.

      I agree 100%. H's such a class act. Even when he was racing he wasn't my favorite driver that I always pulled for, but I was always happy for him when he won.

    The Matt Kenseth quote at the end made me LOL. That is exactly how I felt about a lot of covid time-period related things. Nobody around, just getting to do my thing.

    What a great interview with a great statesman for the sport. What's really impressive is his delivery of his stories and i don't believe i ever heard a single "UHM"!

    One of the best podcast guests so far. Don't get me wrong, others were great, but this one was like sitting with 2 friends talking about old times. And being so honest and sincere with it.

    Jamie is pure class, he's top of the nice guy with class list in the history of the sport. He's pure human and his emotion shown during his win at Daytona showed me how great he truly is. No Ego just pure honesty and Integrity. We need more Jamie's in positions of Power so we can turn this disaster around

    He's a good dude. I knew Jamie from his time in the sport and being a fan but knew little about him. Ya know. So, for me this was a great discussion. To loop back - Super Speedway his or any prowess...you seriously have to go in with a lunatic mentality to drive a car to that insane edge. In typical fashion that mindset of "don't f'ing care" was downplayed but the reality of mashing the throttle and running insane speed in bumper-to-bumper traffic is something few can fathom. When you add in the fact that you're probably going to crash and get jacked...upper echelon of lunacy. Even today with all the safety - that sh!t hurts, bad. I'd guess if Jr calls Jamie with a CARS opportunity, he'd go for it.

    I remember being on summer vacation 2010, and I was watching the Brickyard 400, and I thought JPM had the car to beat, and when Jamie Mac pulled through and won the race, you saw Jamie's class and respect..... I sure as hell miss Jamie Mac out on the track (say that last part 5 times fast), but I certainly am happy to see him on TV

    I think most peoples careers are like that where when you look back you only enjoyed a very small part of it. I am a retired carpenter and had to retire early and never for a second thought that I missed it . I wouldn't mind playing around in shop making what I want but all of the rest of the BS ,back stabbing ,bosses blaming everyone for their own incompetence , grinding out deadlines mostly because the owners didn't put enough labor on the job to begin with.........

  • @TechnikMeister2
    @TechnikMeister2 9 місяців тому +2

    This seems to only apply in the USA. In Europe a truly professional career driver does not confine himself to only one form of motorsport. The other thing is that its a given that a driver gets the sponsor, not the team owner. That way you have leverage that does not depend on your winning in just one genre. You look at the great, long term sponsors of motorsport, like Gulf Oil and Porsche. They signed up becuse of the drivers.
    So these days, drivers have to bring the sponsors and it's the sponsors who pay their way.

    The drivers are miserable for the same reason that the loyal NASCAR fans are, because the Playoff System has sucked the fun out of NASCAR racing. The late 1990’s through late 2000’s were so much more fun times to be a part of the NASCAR world. Boy were those fun times, and with better decisions, NASCAR could return to that again, but it needs to stop the bad decision making.

    As a former local short track racer i know alot of other racers that would love to have millions of fans and sponsor events and anything else to be able to drive a racecar for a living. Maybe Nascar needs to find people who are thankful for the opportunity and not hassled by it. I love the interviews but very disappointed to hear this.

      Lmao, not the takeaway most will get from this video. It’s just two genuine guys from the same career, who did it simultaneously, reminiscing about the good ole days.
      They aren’t crying about anything, I saw more laughs than tears shed in this. Just talking about each other’s experiences on how some things went well and some didn’t.

      As an old super modified driver…yes I wasn’t too bold, that’s how I got old…raced tracks in Canada and US. It was like being in the circus…race, pack up head for next event. Fun,fun,fun. But eventually it started to feel like a job, and with sponsors events and hype you began to feel like a show-dog. No disrespect intended to anyone in other professions; I get what they are saying and they didn’t walk away from the sport they are enjoying another aspect of it.
