My instrument cluster failed and red air bag light was illuminated for the last three days on my 98 Cherokee. All the other electrical components worked. I held the trip reset button in and turned the key to the ON position and the cluster worked fine. Freaking gremlins!

Someone suggested resetting my code now and seeing if it comes back on (with this new cap)...I read to just disconnect the battery for either 2 or 10 minutes - one site even said overnight. (I am a bit incredulous that my 2001 Jeep came with the sensor smarts to really zone me in on what my issue is, honestly.)

Quick tip on obd2 read outs you need a reader for the 99 Cherokees and you can get them cheap and they work got mine brand new online for 25 dollars. No lie. Don't need reader for grand Cherokee though
I have put a manual fan replacing the electric fans how do I trick the computer into thinking the fans still on like it needs a current draw from that fan would a resistor of some sort work to kill that code for DEQ

Couldn’t get any error codes on both my 2000 Cherokee & my 2009 Compass. Both have the check engine light on. Both are standard transmission. I wonder if that has anything to do with it. Failed smog test saying OBDII "not ready". When I do this test, it comes up with "done"...meaning there is no problem, right? How am I supposed to get this to pass???
Hey I noticed that the mileage on your test did not match the mileage on the odometer at the end. 79K versus 74K. Is one the ECU mileage versus the odometer mileage?
if your instrument cluster goes through the test can you assume that it is good? I am have the issue of no gauges working. We have done everything but change out the computer.

I have a 2012 wrangler Sahara and I can say with confidence that none of the procedures I have read or seen on the internet work on my jeep. 3 times, 5 times, I don't care which order or key trick you try, no way, no work. the only process that works is to hold the odometer reset and turn the key to run. but does show you the OBD codes. I have tried 50 different procedures over two days...watched 30 videos, read 40 how-tos! dang it!! no way! :) off to buy a plug in reader....

The KEY JIVE way. way: Key on 3 times trick) does not work on CRD (common-rail-diesel), and on some cars outside, USA, sorry! this is a USA web site , for USA cars, only. (and GAS engines) It does not show all possible DTC errors. This key method is easy on old Jeep but is more tricky on the newer Jeeps. Starting in or about 2007, the key must be turned on , then off fast, before the yellow and read ICONs glow and for sure the DING, or the key on 3 times test fails to activate (2008 JK fact) Simply said, keyon see green VFD glows green, then off fast. the back on 2more times., the all things glow, and the ------- dashes show up in right side VFD, takes 10 seconds to get DONE, message on VFD 2008 JK
I have a 99 vw vr6 and i get not trouble codes and no CEL at ll even when i start the car or turn the key! The car isnt running good so there should be a code coming up! I had a guy a couple months ago hook up a vagcom and he read codes that were stored in the ecu! when i hook up my obd2 it scans and says no codes for some reason.Can my ecu be bad? Also when i turn my key on auxilery the throttlebody just buzzes and does not align but the car does start! I also noticed lower voltage around 3.93 to 4.62 volts when i test the engine bay sensors!What is your opinion i need help!

+Brian Nelson yes disconnect the battery for 30 minutes and see if the light goes off, if not try overnight.
Did you ever figure out how to remove the p0456 code? I been doing about almost everything but still no luck.
