    The side by side door closing comparison really shows the difference and makes the MX5 door closing almost 911 sounding, which has the best sounding door closure I have ever heard. You have convinced me to buy a set and fit to my new MX5, just based on how much better the door closing sounds LOL

    I installed these things on my otherwise stock ND2 right after I bought it. Their position made sense: Together with the hinges on the other ends, they anchor the two HUGE doors (relative to the car's size) to the chassis. The result should be increased overall rigidity. My car is a S
    Sport model with canvas roof, so it already has one strike against it in the “flexi-flyer” department. I got these red bushings and they were substantially firmer in the hand than the OEMs. They were nicely finished, had a quality look and feel and heft, and they fit perfectly in place of the OEM ones. I followed the instructions and fitted them loosely then closed the doors so they would nudge the bushings into the perfect position. Then I tightened them up. The result? A VERY firm and authoritarian door close, better than any other roadster I've owned. When I’m drifting in the twisties or hammering over a beat-up railroad crossing the car feels solid, like a billet. How much of this chassis firmness can be attributed to these bushings? I don’t know. All I can say is, the car feels fantastic and there’s no way I’m going back to the OEMs.

      Definitely, my car handle MUCH better since I installed these. As you said, structural rigidity has been improved

    Too expensive. I just put new front brake pads and rotors in my 99 Miata for $45. I’m going to spend $65
    for 2 small plastic pieces? No.

    I put a set of stiffer door bushings on my 2017 rf launch edition and i noticed that when hitting uneven pavement the doors seem to stay in the closed position and not flex like they did with the stock ones. It seems like it stiffens the body.

  • @baltod4978

    They make ND Blinker fluids as well. Can you make a video on how to do that?

  • @joshp2542
    @joshp2542 4 роки тому +3

    It has a similar effect to the doors as a strut tower brace has to the hood in that it prevents body flex. Its a cheap but necessary upgrade in my opinion.

    I have wondered same. Yes, stock door closing is flimsy to me. I would get them just for that. But if increases chassis rigidity, say at an autocross?? Wow!👍👍😎 More road feel or tighter feel?👍👍😎 16 Club owner here. Yes. I need these.😁

    Hi, I bought them from you a few days ago, I installed them today.
    On the passenger side everything is perfect, but on the driver's side the door needs more force than the standard one to close, it seems that it can't fix it like the passenger side.
    (I followed the instructions)
    the bushing need to be trimmed?

    Hey - am from Sydney Australia and have the identical 2016 'Mia' to yours, 2.0 litre manual ceramic etc. This specific video caught my interest as when I first closed the drivers door in the showroom the roof was down and it sounded very 'tinny'. The 'door close' action sounds much more solid when the roof and windows are closed. So from my aspect It would be interesting to hear how the Cravenspeed bushings sound with the roof and windows down. Thanx for your awesome videos mate!

      AVPOnTheRoad I was told that firmer bushings could have a bad effect on the door hinges. I just wanted to know is this fact or fiction.

  • @miketheyunggod2534

    I wouldn't replace them unless you have a NA. After 20+'years, the doors do get louder when you close them.

  •  6 років тому +5

    I'm conflicted here; for such a new car, wouldn't the engineers put something in like this to prevent such a 'problem'?
    And the whole 'its not cost effective' argument; can you really justify that when the NDs are pushing 35-40k prices based on brand and trend? Because the price-to-product ratio is mildly unbalanced with these cars.

    • @cooperp6429
      @cooperp6429 6 років тому

      Kind of depends. They might have shitloads of these door bushings left. Or they spent this money somewhere else. Or they thought that it doesn't make a big enough difference.

    I just found your site today. Awesome. I have ‘16 GT same colour as you. I am Canadian. Is the ND a European version? Same as GT?
    Also I just bought the scuff plate and have not installed yet. I’m a bit nervous.

      Hello, My ND is a Belgian 2016 sport which is almost the same as a club spec but without the brembo brakes. I also installed the scuff plates myself. It is pretty easy and the instructions are clear. So there is not much to worry about, just go step by step and you'll be fine :-)

    I see you got some stickering on your car. Did you make sure it's specifically designed for the ND?
    Seriously.. if the design of parts attached to the bushing is the same, it's just a marketing trick to state it's specifically designed for one version.

    • @AVPOnTheRoad
      @AVPOnTheRoad  6 років тому +2

      Well Cravenspeed only has an ND mx5 to use for product development. So all there parts are designed for their mx5 shop car. Their is a chance the bushing could also be fitted to different models but they were designed for the ND generation of the mx5.
