Suggestion for a new type of head-to-head battle: Find a recipe with a bunch of either/or options in it (like in this one, where they could either shape the crust on the inside or the outside of the moulds), and show all those choices to the competitors before the battle begins. The two take turns picking categories where they want to make the decision, but they don't reveal which option they want to go with right away. @@PokhrajRoy. Idunno, it makes me think of eating shredded cheese straight from the bag (Not that I've ever done that, cough cough...). Maybe #ShreddedGinger?
I have only eaten it once and did not know it was supposed to be cold, so was disappointed. I would like to try again now that I know what it is. I had a ploughman's lunch at a pub across from Windsor castle and had the best ham in my whole life and great cheese. A memory I will never forget.
Ive never made these before. But seeing Jamie cook his filling as opposed to the raw traditional way made me think of a chinese bao bun filling. So if i ever make these, i would cook half of the pork to develope flavor and get more browning in there, then add it to the raw seasoned pork before putting it in the pastry.
Good effort by both and I do like a good pork pie. Not a fan of the jelly though. I know its in there as a form of preservation for the meat from the days before refridgeration, but I don't see it as essential these days. It's the texture I don't like, sweet jelly is okay, but savoury jelly and aspic just give me the shivers. As to filling I like a little cheese mixed through the pork, sharp Cheddar can be nice but things like feta also work well. And of course a little pickle, relish or piccalilli either mixed through of a dollop on top before you seal it with the lid. Heaven.
I don't know why, but seeing a cooking battle happen with both chef's in the kitchen at the same time was so nice. And having everyone at the table too. Yes!!!!!! Another battle!!!! 😁 I love battles!!!!!
I like the fact the jelly was throughout Jamie’s as the worst part was always the jelly in my eyes, so I think (if I ate pork still) I would enjoy Jamie’s more 😋
I think if you’re getting jelly in your eyes while eating a pork pie there are other issues to deal with ;)
Matt T 😂😂
Just amazing recipe! I must try this! 😍
Pass it on hero ingredient Rhubarb
If pass it on has taught me one thing it's that these five cannot handle rhubarb with a time limit
Any chance of getting the chef-made Pork Pie recipe in full? Hearing the reactions from Jamie and Barry trying it at the beginning made me really want to try it!
Sorry but 29 seconds in, James immediately caught my eye. He's hella fine today. Like extra fine.
Also watching Baz and Jay work like this must be really painful and stressful for both Ben and James (hope u guys are ok)
James is so twitchy and finnicky here it's too funny
Lalaine Sarno I’m using the hashtag #ShreddedSnacc
@@PokhrajRoy. Idunno, it makes me think of eating shredded cheese straight from the bag (Not that I've ever done that, cough cough...). Maybe #ShreddedGinger?
A Smidge of Boise I’m not a fan of the word ‘Ginger’.
Barry is amazing at these recipe-less battles.
please bring back ultimate battles
Good effort by both and I do like a good pork pie. Not a fan of the jelly though. I know its in there as a form of preservation for the meat from the days before refridgeration, but I don't see it as essential these days. It's the texture I don't like, sweet jelly is okay, but savoury jelly and aspic just give me the shivers.
As to filling I like a little cheese mixed through the pork, sharp Cheddar can be nice but things like feta also work well. And of course a little pickle, relish or piccalilli either mixed through of a dollop on top before you seal it with the lid. Heaven.
Pass it on challenge: American biscuits and gravy
Such a great idea. We love biscuits and gravy 🤤
Except that it literally takes 13 minutes to make biscuits and 5 for gravy. You'd need something else to fill 32 minutes for a pass it on.
Great... now I am getting out of bed to make buttermilk biscuits. Thanks a hell of a lot Nick.
I don't know why, but seeing a cooking battle happen with both chef's in the kitchen at the same time was so nice. And having everyone at the table too. I appreciate you guys setting a good example of social distancing by doing things very separately lately, but it did make me a little bit sad sometimes. Haha. But this was a nice little refreshing change! Socially distant battles, I'm here for it ^.^
Also, I really REALLY want a Pork Pie now.
How about a Vegetarian Recipe-less Indian Challenge? They have to make chapati, saag and samosa with references.
Tough challenge... love it! 🤣
I believe those are called samosas
Best episode in a while! Thank you guys!

I always come back to this video. I love it
