I lost it when Mike entered frame on his knees, apologizing for leaving the hob on. 😭
Same! 😂😂
😂
...and then when he pulled up the macaroon with the black bottom. lol
I love how Barry just immediately forgave him too, despite all the shit they always give him about it. These guys are just ❤️❤️
@@lets.get.intoit. They are, but I kinda see Barry saying something later, maybe "are you sure Mike didn't do it this time" when they raz him about it. And the little "hob off" bit was just right amount of sass.
Barry is so smug for finally turning his hob off like a normal person
💃
And the look he gave the camera when doing so was precious!
@@SortedFood Sassy
I loved it 😁
That will only ever happen once though
Mike is the only one who can beat Ben and James and lose to Barry in the same time...
The universe likes to keep things balanced
Barry is really good at making stuff up and somehow getting it to work. Mike does great things when he has time to plan. So, Mike was at a disadvantage from the start here.
@@NerdyMusicChef Barry improvising usually goes either great or terribly, nowhere in between ("cloud eggs" for example)
Corey mike would be the person on bake off who always did the best showstopper but came last in the technical challenge every week lol
Not a hate comment at all, love you all lots ..... but losig to Baz must hurt like hell, i feel like everytime Baz wins a little bit of Me dies horribly :*
This entire episode was golden. From Mike trying to vainly pick up spilled eggwhites, his sincere apology to Barry for his 'hypocrisy' and his 'moment' with the audience resulting in Barry on the floor. Basically Mike at his best!
When Mike clutched Barry and said, 'I am so sorry, I am a dirty hypocrite', I burst into peals of laughter and my grandma looked at me like something had possessed me!
The gleeful look on Jamie's face when he said, "Yay, it's not me!" 🤣 Jamie looked so excited to finally be in the sidelines, and just giggling as Mike tries to pick up egg whites on the table.
Ben just looks exasperated as this happens
Mike's reaction to the hob on:
"You drain me." 😂😂😂
😂
Lost it! 😂😂😂 they're such brothers fighting!
"I AM A DIRTY HYPOCRITE" omg that got me
Hi! Hope everyone is safe and healthy! Here is an Ultimate battle idea: the chefs prepare a dish that the normals are unfamiliar with (maybe a classic with a twist or something completely out of left field). All they get is a time limit, the dish itself served up and a tray with ingredients (including ingredients to confuse them) and no recipe! The challenge is to replicate the dish as accurately as possible using their senses.

Chris Morocco from BA has a whole series doing this, it's great
Yes!! They used to do this on masterchef, but they also had to guess the ingredients by tasting the dish before being given them, although that might be a bit much. Hope they try this!!
@@ailtire2117 This series drives me nuts. He never tastes the thing as a whole. He just rips it apart like there's no information to be gained by taking a bite as it was intended. Dude struggled to identify NACHOS. It's a perfectly valid way of eating, but not of a pro chef identifying an unknown dish.
Sorry for ranting. What I meant to say is that if Morocco can't do it in a day, there's no way the normals can do it with a time limit.
@@adde9506 Oh my god that's so true! I never saw anyone else complain about this, but it bugs me so much that he never seems to take a proper bite of the meal. Maybe he does it off camera at some point and for whatever reason they keep it out.
Come to think of it... What even is the point of doing it blindfolded? It's not like it gets in the way of his dish recreation in the end, it's always pretty similar in apperance. It feels like it just stops him from delving deeper into the flavour analysis and focusing on more interesting aspects of the dish, instead of guessing how much parsley there is on the top. Idk. Guess I'm ranting too.
Ben: "Your time starts now. Straight off, two hours is a long time..."
Mike: "I've already spilt my eggs"
Me sheltering from the world at home: "ah, balance is restored to the universe"
Mike is anyone who has ever cheated off the smart kid in class: "You are moving too quickly for me!" 😂😂
This has probably been all of us at some point 🤣
@@SortedFood Even Ben? :P
Ben probably was correcting the errors on the test and invented a bonus question for himself to try to get extra points.
“Yay. It’s me.” vs “YAY IT’S NOT ME” 😂😂
How about Julia Child's Boeuf Bourguignon?
rated the fourth hardest classic recipe by the Food Network, and well, you've already done Beef Wellington so it's time to go up a notch :)
17 separate ingredients
2 hour cook time
... panic, desperation, and fun :)
Barry: I’m gonna make ice cream
Mike: oh brilliant! Im back in the game
🤣
But the way Mike looks straight at the camera when he say's that was hilarious!
Macarons can go terrible even with a recipe!
EXACTLY! 😂
i would say this is the final video proving that the "normals" arent that far off from professionals anymore and need a new label
@@bagrym totally agree..
@@bagrym Well, they stopped calling themselves "normies" - they are now "foodies" in many intros.
I mean the ingredients were preweighed for them. All they really needed to do was remember the process which isn't very complicated
I DO care!
Can we get a Ben's Deleted Scenes, where all the random bits of info, geekiness, and Bennuendos you cut out of normal videos will be there in all their glory?
I'm down with this. It would be fun to listen to while I'm cooking.
Agreed
Yes!!
No
@@Pschokid then don't watch it, I'm sure as hell going to
Barry is the unspoken hero of Macarons and Recipe-less Challenges.
I would not have been surprised if Barry tried to put the pineapple in the macarons 😆
It wouldn't surprise us either.
Now I'm kind of curious where a pineapple macaron would go. He could perhaps have swapped out lemon with pineapple (so ginger+pineapple?) - couldn't have done a cream filling though.
That might be good actually. A fruity macaroon. Or grown up with rum and coconut :)
Coconut filling with the pineapple would be good
@@CircleTheSkies Whole pineapple between 2 halves, before bringing out the actual plate.
mike picking up egg whites is my mood trying to pick up my motivation to do things this quarantine
We think this is everyone right now.
The look on their face when Ben says macarons. XD
LOLLLL
ua-cam.com/video/p4k-6EjLvGk/v-deo.html
Sorted is the only channel I turn my adblock off for.
Why thank you!
Ben: 'we have plenty, you can share'. Such a dad to these boys 🤣
Nah, James is Dad. Ben is Mum. XD
@@greenqueenjp as a mum... yep that's so what a mum would say.
I can't imagine how much the team must be missing the studio because even I miss it knowing these were recorded back in february/march :(
Episode idea: One Normal remote controlling a chef vs. One Normal remote controlling another Normal. Same recipe but the chef cannot do anything unless the Normal tells him to do so. No sneaky chefy moves!
Poncho - what if the normal says let’s do some sneaky chef move
@@PriyankitaPant the rule is they can only do what's written in the recipe
That but one normal controlling a chef vs one chef controlling a normal. Can innate technique and timing and tasting win correct instructions?
Ben: "Wouldn't normally cut a... but I wanted to show a cross-section".
*scrunched blurry mess on the cutting board*
Mike after seeing Barry leaving the hob on:
"You drain me."
Also Mike: Leaves the hob on
I died hahaha
Mike was priceless this episode 😂 Him telling Barry that he drains him then doing the same thing later was all thirteen years of my marriage in two mins!
Barry: I’m going to make ice cream.
in a macaron battle.
Standard Barry 😂
I was reminded of the ice cream sandwich battle. I think Mike won back then with a Macaron one.
I can't wait until you can get back to making Pass It On videos. I'm sure you guys are REALLY looking forward to that, too.
We can't wait to get back in the studio!!!
4:32 a physical example of "cheeky" lmao. That was the cheekiest eyebrow raise I've ever seen
I don't know the science involved, but to make something a bright white, I've heard if you add a tiny drop of blue food dye in the mixture it makes it a lot whiter.
So my mum is a hairdresser and she uses violet and blue toners to get yellow and orange out of blonde hair because violet tones neutralise yellow and blue orange because they're opposites on the colour wheel. It's how you get platinum hair.
@@violetskies14 That's really interesting! Thank you :D I wish I could've gotten into food or hair science, it genuinely intrigues me. At my place of work we do paper making demonstrations and to make the paper a cream colour we use green (I was shocked to find this out) and to make bright white we use the blue!
we need a recipe-less croissants version!! 😂
Yess and i want jamie in that one
Not gonna lie...it made me SO happy to see Barry win for once!! He deserved it!! 🤗
The way Barry just panics and looks at the crew for help when mike dumps the sugar syrup in the mixer
Mike is like me during a test: panicking and constantly doubting myself, freaking out for no reason and hoping I know what to do. Barry is my friend, doing whatever he wants hoping it works. And yet Barry still wins 😂😂
pearl ramos like a what?
Jamie: "Macarons"
Ebbers: OUI OUI LE MACAROHHHHHN
Barry is aceing the recipeless dessert challenge and i'm so happy for him! Im always rooting for him and his crazy ideas 🙌
Loving Jamie as a judge - Silently listening to Ben's advice with quiet 'Hmmm...'s as though he's the quiet genius.
'Tis wise to be silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
The eggs look greenish, surprised they weren’t tasked with making green ham lol
I wondered why the egg whites were egg greens too 😁
This is what our lighting and cameras do to the egg colour.... it's always been the case. They are normal egg colour, promise 😂
😂 thank goodness for that. I'd have noshed Barry's - send him round when COVID'S over 😉
@@SortedFood I was thinking had they added food colouring to them
“WHY IS THE MASH GREEN?!” - Mike in English Breakfast v2 video
Does anyone else love Ben’s random facts? I like being informed and learning random new things. Bring on the linguistics/ history/ science/ math (even though I don’t understand it)
So greatful that they still posting and giving us the best content even during a pandemic!
6:27
My favorite moment is Ben talking to Jamie who has absolutely no idea what's going on and why they shouldn't do that, but trying to pretend he is interested in the conversation and knows what ben is going on about
Barry is so impressive in this episode! He really shouldn't be underestimated as much as he is
Mike spilling the eggs in the first second is so me!
Barry has been doing so well. His flavour concoctions and plating have been on pointe lately.
mad points to mike for saving his macarons from being a complete disaster to being a bit chewy. wish we could've seen how you went from total wreck to passable. recipe recovery, sounds like series, yeah?
4:31 Barry turned a hub off! He turned it off after he was done with it! It's the end times, people! End times!!
Barry reacting to something funny will never fail to crack me up. His sort of slow spin as he crashes to the floor without making a sound...I'm wheezing
Sorted is one of the only things to look forward to during this lockdown... been binge watching sorted not series
We're glad we can help you out in some small way, you got this! 💪
The best Mother’s Day gift ever for me.
karissa matson happy mother’s day !! 💕
Hahahahahaha mike: "I am a dirty hipocrate"....
Samantha du Preez The one from the oath?
I think Barry has found what he is good at. Making pastries.
You guys are the best! Haha. Flustered Mike and Barry is gold 🙌🏽
Also, Baz turned off his hob. Yay!🎉
I hear you Mike. Always learn from other people's mistakes, because you don't have the time to make them all yourself.
Wow this is really awesome cooking challenge.
I'm honestly really impressed with the creation of both Mike and Barry (Barry's especially) since I've failed to make macarons several times even while following a recipe.
Hahaha Barry calling out Mike for not turning off the hob is the best thing ever.
Once I made macaroons and I placed a tray one on top of another in the oven, and the ones on the bottom tray ended up looking like Mike’s and the top tray turned out pretty nice so it might’ve been because of how it baked in the oven, not Mike’s inability to make macaroons :)
That's exactly it. I've had many trays of "Mike" macarons, learning my oven's temp areas, and that's exactly what you have to do, unless you've got an industrial convection oven tucked away. Macacrons are fiddly, having to get hot enough to rise and form the foot, but not enough to start browning.
So, Mike actually handed Barry the win by accident, then?
AdraicStarks yeah potentially
I would have LOVED to hear Ben talk about the spelling of macaron.
I’ve just realized this now as Barry throws all the things in the processor without hesitation while Mike freaks out over it, that Barry is the youngest child, Mike the oldest, and Jamie is the middle child wild card. Ben and James are of course the parents. And Kush the crazy uncle.
Anyone else consistently root for mike in these? Like I don't care who he goes up against I just want him to do well. Even if it doesn't go well. I will always be loyal to Mike, because at least he gives an effort, whether it's 100% or not is up to debate
Wow! Very impressive Baz! So cool to see how far you have come. No freak out from you. Now maybe the placement of the cookie sheet in the oven gave an advantage too? Nice try Mike I was rooting for you, but looks like Baz was the winner. Great vid guys! Keep up the awesome work! 😁
I don't know which was more precious - Mike trying to scoop up eggs with his hands, or Jamie's giggles.
I am crying after watching the blooper!!! My stomach hurts! Ben is the cutest nerd ever! 😂
This is another person’s suggestion that I think is wonderful.
From Cameron Webster
“Interesting recipe challenge idea:
Give normals a cookbok they haven't seen before, lead them to believe they will be reviewing it.
After ~10 tell them it's actually a recipe battle, and they have ~5min to pick a recipe from the book and write some notes before taking the book away. Give the normals 3-5 post-its to discourage copying the whole recipe.
Have normals switch notes with each other.
Normals cook recipe with the notes provided, and chefs judge them.”
Let's see a recipeless Croque en Bouche just for the hell of it !!
I know I shouldn't laugh at other's misery but I was laughing like a maniac seeing the burnt bottom of Mike's macaroon and his face and Barry saying Mike has only got five.
Also Mike saying Barry doesn't know what diameter is was hilarious.
Ben: *explains chef things to jamie*
Jamie: yes, yes i know some of these things...
5:30 To make the batter look whiter try using a tiny tiny bit of blue food colouring - it cancels out the yellow beigey tones! Works for icing too
So, Mike has beaten Ben, James, and Jamie, but lost to Barry. Does that mean Barry is the best at cooking?!?! Everything is so Topsy Turvy 😂
it's macarons and if i remember right Barry's done macarons from memory before, so in that case I think Barry has the upper hand going in.
Recipeless recipe next: some Kind of soup maybe?
I'd also really Like to See another language barrier cooking Challenge. Like the ones with the Italien mamas.
OMG THE FILMING SET IS BACK. I missed it so much. The videos didn’t feel the same without the kitchen I’m so happy.
Filmed before the lockdown.
Love the blooper. Today's video has so many epic moments, Mike's grovel, Mike's picking up egg white, Barry's hot ice cream, Barry actually turning hob off, roasting Jamie.. omg!! I can go on & on! You're channel is the best!!! Bringing so much laughter during such dark times
I care....... I love Ben's little info bits. Any bit of random knowledge is something I will eat right up.
Can we get a Ben's Deleted Scenes, where all the random bits of info, geekiness, and Bennuendos you cut out of normal videos will be there in all their glory?
This is literally the greatest UA-cam channel ever
Any chance you'd consider an Ultimate Surf and Turf Battle?
I care! I love Ben's insights. I value knowledge.
TY to all Of You For the excellent Video's
Mike asked the wrong person on the sideline to find him an ingredient with an alcoholic component 😂😂 Ebbers is renowned for loving a drink of any form at any time of the day on any day of the week 😂😂 I say this because when someone makes a joke about Ebbers being an ‘alcoholic’ a Sorted clip that immediately comes to mind is when Ebbers tested out the vintage ice crusher and made a cocktail to use the crushed ice and the camera panned to Jamie with a face of disappointment and concern and just said ‘that’s exactly what you want at 9:30 in the morning on a Tuesday…’ 😂😂 as much as Jamie did have a valid defence for his error I would have been in uncontrollable laughter at the Huttlestorm that would have ensued if he actually added the soy into his batter 😂😂
"Cold Cream" The second Barry said that, all I thought was when you leave ice cream that has just melted completely but it is still cold.
You all make me love sundays just a little more!
Except...no Dad Joke!! :(
I’d love a recipe-less drinks challenge. Like just a load of alcohol and mixy thingies for the boys to throw together. Maybe having to make 10 in an hour or something?
Barry and Mike stressed out. I’m all for it! 😎
did not click on this video expecting mike to be on his knees asking barry for forgiveness but here we are lmao
I love how calm this seemed
Can we all take a moment to appreciate Barry turning the stove off ?!?
Having that said for the next Recipe-Less challenge : Tarte tatin aux pommes please.
Surely if they have a recipe-less espresso martini challenge, Mike will take the win with ease!
5:44 Mike mouthing, “He doesn’t know what diameter means.” 😂
Between the glitter and the green and purple flowers, the lemon ones looked like something that you'd get at a mardi gras party. Those come around on one platter, other things come around on others, and Champaign comes around most of all, and all of it covered by the exorbitant cover charge.
Been a while since I been to that kind of party.
Also I was interested in Ben's Macaron/Macaroon thing.
It's still a miracle to achieve something macarons-like without a recipe, good job guys, I hope I'll be able to bake macarons one day
I learned how to cook from a mom and dad who never used recipes for most cooking. They didn't use measuring cups or spoons, cutting boards or whisks. They eye balled everything and used there hands. You should have seen my sister bake a cake as a child. She never cared if she didn't have all the ingredients she made cake. And with all her confidants she made it work.
Can we just admire for a moment the organization of SORTEDfood to have pre-made videos ready to publish for this far into lockdown? Kudos on your planning.
I ADORE Ben but Jamie, that blooper cracked me up!!!😅😅😅
So wouldn't putting the shock bands on Barry and shocking him everytime he leaves a hob on work to change that behavior?
And maybe Mike too lol.
as much as the lockdown is under these awful circumstances, it’s fascinating to see how prepared you guys are, the amount of stuff you’ve got prefilmed is amazing to me, feels like Ben was involved - always be prepared 😂
I never thought we’d see the day when a hob is left on and Barry wasn’t the culprit, instead actually calling someone else out on it when he’s been reprimanded for it for so many years and only moments before in this video 😂
what about a recipe-less Ramen soup or Ravioli, Tortelini or other Dumplings. they are complex dishes but the broud varaity of options gave the boys the chance to shiny with their creativity with the soup, toppings or filling
I'd love to hear from a chef why mike's burned so we really can learn from his mistakes. they both put them in for the same time at the same temp so could it have been there was more sugar in mikes so it caught easier? or maybe because his was on the bottom? seriously curious what people think.
I make a lot of macarons - it’s because it wasn’t on the right level in the oven, which means it didn’t get the right ratio of heat
It's simple, bottom of oven cooks bottom of food, top of oven cooks top of food, so place it according to where you want its insides cooking faster
The fact that you got me to laugh at the beginning is already a good sign of a good video.
I would say Mike's "failing" maybe could be accounted for because of the eggs he spilled, the flour Barry changed, and the (possibly) -10º in the meringue.
