    At 56.00, you give me such joy. If Anekyn does it, I don't have to beat myself up so much when my lines are mixed up. 😉You DO really communicate well the principles of track laying

    Nah, I think most of us watch to the end, to see what next 'grand idea' you have! (Although sometimes the execution is less than ideal! ;-) And then we get to see you trouble-shoot. Oh shoot!)

    I think when you ended the Ostend passenger route, you had Lille - Ostend - Ostend - Brussels. That might not work as you intended!

    I'm trying out your separate mail and passenger station, and I have to say. I'm really starting to dig it. My mail I'm running into a single platform in each city, saves money to start since i don't need mail to go through cities like passengers might

      Not convinced on this strategy, myself. One less space in a goods station which could be used for a warehouse or maintenance depot. Assuming you need to separate mail and passengers onto separate trains given they run at the same speed it would seem easier to have then running to the same station. After all, we’re not running short of tracks with these 8 track stations! :-)
      I get that there’s a benefit to more ability to include post offices market halls and restaurants but by the time those percentages make a difference I seem to be rolling in money anyway!

      Agree with mja- a bit skeptical of this. It also results in more platforms being used, which is a big expense early game that will take a long time to pay back. And you don’t have to keep platforms separate-I tried not doing that-but then I ket having freight lines leak over to passenger lines and slow things down without a frustrating amount of micro and waypoints. About a third of the way into this campaign I abandoned this method, blew up the frt-pas line connectors, and did separate mail and pas trains on the same express stations.

      @@chad31415 i just look at how much mail/passengers there are and spot check trains, are they full? Click on the little 3 coin money on the rail line and does the untilization have "!" on it? hover over it, it tells how many more train can be loaded. - add more trains :)

      It is absolutely definitely most definitely worth the extra platform. I just finished the gold rush scenario using this method, along with a rapid expansion start, got 796,719 score for 8th place at the moment, on the Xbox leaderboard, and it was making bank, like 2 million in the second quarter. Made scaling up to cover passenger and mail much easier as each had it's own set of trains. Like 4-5 each between each city making 200k per line

    • @stevegooch1776
      @stevegooch1776 Рік тому

      So I finished growing Bodie to 120k and got up to 809k score. Oh, and even having the spilt station I wasn't even over 75% on mail and passenger fulfillment

      Yeah and the train route viewer isn't the same thing as the track direction viewer. They look the same but the train route just shows the direction it will take.

    is it possible to touch an industry in restricted area by placing a station on a closest distanse to border? maybe make there intermediary warehouse so ai will deliver there something

      I've played around with this a bit. I think the map design is such that the catchment area for rural businesses is always outside the growth area of a city so there is no overlap and a station cannot be in a city and attached to a rural business at the same time.

  • @grokashrimp
    @grokashrimp Рік тому

    Thank you. I've been setting the trains at 4 cars min instead of full and I'm getting way less yellow "x" on the map. Anyone have thoughts? Am I limiting the growth that way?

    • @chad31415
      @chad31415 Рік тому

      Not limiting growth at all. Might even help it a little, though probably not much. Just spending more on crew and increasing traffic a bit with more half full trains.

    • @grokashrimp
      @grokashrimp Рік тому

      @@chad31415 But they still run full if the demand is there. I just couldn't handle seeing all the yellow "x" all over. This way if there is an issue I can try to fix it. Not sure what the optimal solution is.

      @suleo9955 Рік тому

      I've also been doing the same, for various reasons.
      1. It helps with demand satisfaction when the scenario calls for it (you get it done faster).
      2. It helps if the resource station has a gridiron. If you have trains waiting inside the gridiron it creates bottlenecks. Without trains waiting you can increase the throughput to the station. The alternative is to have dedicated separate tracks but this gets hairy quickly if you need to serve more than 2 locations at once.
      3. Similar to the above, it helps when you have a resource station that also has a warehouse. You don't want any trains parked on tracks in that case.
      4. The extra cost is negligible, especially given that you mostly need this at the beginning. The benefits (save in track costs, increased growth at first) are superior.

    • @chad31415
      @chad31415 Рік тому +1

      For the record I agree with all this. It also helps later game when you start getting production-limited for your factories. Uneven distribution of big loads isn’t as helpful as frequent delivery of small loads. But that’s also the same time when I start having traffic issues so Im thinking it’s just going to be a preference thing. So far I’m like 50/50… mostly doing half full on factory-feeder lines and full for warehouse feeders.

      @Adekyn100  Рік тому

      My guess: lack of supply or demand or transport frequency. It could be bugged and working erratically, but I suspect it's more likely one of those three things.

    The Ostend Dilemma: Too clever by half. You were wondering why you couldn't build the grain line to Paris. You pondered the question as to why it wasn't working to be shocked in the end that it in fact was good for connection. The game is finicky. You rush it and you will get these misclicks and errors. This was further demonstrated with Ostend. Whilst reconnecting the lines after moving the station you missed the connection several times before taking your time and hitting your mark.
    I understand your desire for speed but when you couple it with your desire to build a complex system such as the Ostend Passenger/Mail Exchange, exponential growth in errors occurs. Every time you click something, create a rail line, and/or build a station/building/track you might make a mistake. More clicks, more rail lines, and more buildings your have the greater chance of committing an error. This is your dilemma. Speed or complexity.
    In the end, Ostend could have easily been just a single station with a restaurant and Post Office. Old school as is Mission 4. One train from Liile to Ostend to Brussels to Ostend. You have never seen what this weird station actual does. Come back near the end of the Video to see what's up. Are all the Trains packed or are they nearly empty? We are here to learn.
