This was a great list! You gotta do more of these...I feel like I'm watching one of those infomercials for buying a cd collection of the greatest hits of a decade...I love those😂

Awesome as always. Break out takes me back to spending time one summer afternoon in Santa Monica with my friends driving around in a Suzuki samurai just having careless fun. I also love the song Heaven Help Us by Deon Estus with back ground vocals by George Michael I believe it came out in late 89. Check it out!
Good list....I remember most of these. It's weird that you have no Rock or Metal type songs. Most of them are Pop or New Wave types. I'd love to see another song list.
"Lessons in Love" by Level42 is also highly underrated, but i love that band entirely. As you did, after loving this song and "Something about You" i fell in love with the band when i finally went further and heard one of their entire albums. I freaking love them!
Awesome choices, Kurt! You really had to search for these! I think D-Nice is my favorite from the list. You said it didn’t get much attention, but up in the Bay Area, it played all the time on Wild 107 and KMEL! It pops into my head every now and then, so I’m really glad you brought it up. I didn’t know he was doing all those livestreams during quarantine. Keep up the great work dude! 💯💯💯
Wow. This is so wonderful to see all these songs featured. Couldn't agree more with your 15. Shell Shock is such a fantastic song. I had the maxi single for Kon Kan back in the day and saw them perform live in San Francisco.
In the early 80s, my family didn't have a VCR. The video store would rent them out in these huge plastic cases, so we'd have to set that sh!t up whenever we rented videos. By 1985, we had a VCR, but I remember before that. Dan Hartman died young, it breaks my heart man.
Yep nothing like the plastic smell of video tapes when you walked in to your local video rental. Back then, before the internet, most of the time you would pick a movie based on who was in it and the description on the back of the box. Then my mom would pay with her credit card and the employee would put it in one of those manual credit card machines. The ones where it slides back and forth to make a carbon copy receipt. Hop in the back of the station wagon, get home, and pop it in the VCR. Ah nostalgia!
Absolutely....They have amazing music. "It's Over" is a song you should check out if you haven't heard it. It's a really sad song....pulls at the heart strings. Level 42 is incredible.
My pick of a really good New Order song is "Confusion" Also another good 80s song is "Salt In My Tears" by Martin Brilley, "All Come True" by World Party, "Gotta Let Go" by Lita Ford, "Square Dance Rap" by Sir Mix-A-Lot", "Jam On It" by Newcleus, "Make A Circuit With Me" by The Polecats, "Wood Beez" by Scritti Pollitti, there is a lot of great 80s music also can't forget about "Anything, Anything" by Dramarama, "Erotic City" by Prince, "Be Your Man" by Jesse Johnson's Revue & "Ice Cream Castles" by The Time and so much more. Your list was great.

I always loved that song, specially when the Dj’s at KDAY mixed it on Friday nights.
Underrated '80s songs:
Dance - ESG
Beat City - The Flowerpot Men
I Still Believe - The Call
What Difference Does It Make - The Smiths
Warriors of the Wasteland - Frankie Goes to Hollywood
Mirror in the Bathroom - The Beat
Teen Age Riot - Sonic Youth
Bonzo Goes to Bitburg - Ramones
Don't Sweat the Technique - Erik B & Rakim
Lunatic Fringe - Red Rider
Frank is Goes to Hollywood - Two Tribes is another good one that was overshadowed by Relax. The song is totally relevant today!
Anything from OMD other than “if you leave,” the group “strawberry switchblade” “the Cocteau twins” rnb soul group “loose ends,” “Roxy music” “Japan” “theater of hate”
I have a lot of those songs in my main playlist. from late 1986 to 1990 I was into hair bands like Motley Crue though.
This list $ucks! I only listen to Motley Crue and Journey!
A'me Lorain - Whole Wide World
80 Remember Cyndi Lauper Girls just Want to Have .Fun Love my favorite one fan BIG music 🎶 CD 💿💖💖💖💖💖
Hey Kurt love your videos.if you ever do 80's rap video I liked me,myself and I.also liked my mind keeps on playing tricks on me.if you ever do alternative music I liked weird al and crash test dummies.that guy from crash test dummies had a great voice.
Just realized crash test dummies was early 90's so they are. out, only song I liked anyway was superman.
With recent events, Russians by Sting comes to mind.
Was so creepy then and creepier now. Great album, great song. Glad to see someone with intelligence here. 💙
Good list! I would add Breakfast Club's Rico Mambo and Holiday Rap by MC Miker G and DJ Sven to mine.
5:50 Free Ride was the first ever record I bought way back in 1973.
“I have an alcohol problem” “I smoke too much weed” “I eat too much” 80’s guy “I fail to listen to bad songs by one hit wonders”
I thought their band’s name was Scrotum Polotum. Thanks for clarifying!
Dan Hartman wrote 'Instant Replay' too😜
I had this on a compliation album lp
Here a some hidden 80s gems:
Rupert Hine - With One Look from Better Off Dead
Tim Freehan - Where There’s Fire from The Wraith
Tangerine Dream - Go to the Head of the Class from 3 O’Clock High
Tangerine Dream - Love on a Real Train from Risky Business
Lightning Seeds - Pure
Right on with Level 42 by the way!
Rupert Hine was a huge producer back then and later I found out that he actually has his own albums.
From someone who grew up in the 80s, some of those songs should stay hidden.
Just started the video, but "They Don't Know," by Tracy Ullman (Kirsty MacColl cover) is one of my favorites. Hope it's on here.
Tribute (Right On) - The Pasadenas, 1988
Twist In My Sobriety - Tanita Tikaram
Remember the song New Gold Dream? Can anyone guess who performed it?
Also Tears for Fears - Pharaohs was superb. Never knew about it until I heard it on AccuRadio’s A Flock of 80s channel several years ago.
Mental Hopscotch was another great song by Missing Persons.
