There is no indication of how much time passed from the first scene to the last. It could have been hours, days or weeks. He is wearing a different coat/undershirts in the two scenes.

I can kind of agree. I love how they made Boyd such a interesting character. He was such an intriguing and complicated character that is hard to pin down. His morality and ethics were twisted and all around the place, but he had a solid backbone and was fun to watch.
