Source of Randomness I don’t think it was. Michael is far from successful, but he’s happy with where he is. He’s telling Jim the same thing. And Jim embraces it, and by the final seasons, he’s very happy with a wife and daughter. They both know they’ll never live the best life, but what makes it so great is their making lemonade out of lemons and living a happy life in Scranton, Pennsylvania

How people's faces light up, when Michael joins in singing, how the mood instantly gets from awkward and depressing from light and happy.
This is probably the nicest scene of the whole show. It shows how difficult it is to be a manager and that Michael actually might be a great boss. And that he actually cares about people and there's more to his jokes than just wanting to be funny and liked. Wholesome.

This moment and the "Co-manager" saga are some of the most important character studies in the series. Because for one, it shows being a boss is hard, but, more important, people will hate you no matter how cool and good you are at being a boss, because you have to decide for a lot of people, and it's real easy to criticize when you are on the other end. And what this shows us is that Michael is not a complete moron, he is just the boss

I really like this interaction and acting between Jim and Michael, you can see Jim contemplating life choices as he's wondering if he's really gonna be stuck at this job for a decade, only for Michael to clear the tension and remind Jim why he enjoys working at Dunder Mifflin, all while Michael acts a bit more mature and honest when he says he never knows who he's actually referring to with "That's what she said", makes Michael feel more human and sane when he's even able to admit his mistakes/quirks

I like how in the later seasons, there are moments like this where people get to see how smart Michael actually is. I'm well aware this is not real life. However, Jim tends to be the level headed guy who typically thinks along the same lines as the viewers (us). And throughout watching the office, we judge Michael for his stupid comments and absurd antics. But then later, like in this episode, we find out that he's already tried the over professional and mature approach, and learned that it didnt work. He's tried everything, and has found that the tactics he currently employs work best. Episodes like this where Michael gets "real", and we as the viewer learn something as previously explained really shows the genius writing behind "The Office".

I loved this show when i was younger. Now as an operations manager.... this scene really hits differently. Having to listen to the petty squabbles of 34 people, pretending to care, while saying something basic enough to assuage their concerns, while not saying anything concrete enough to cause more issues to deal with. Attempting to make everyone happy with schedules, days off, hours, breaks, lunches.... Complaining to my manager about all the bs, and realizing he's in the same boat as I am, pretending to care about my petty problems, while saying enough to make me contented, without actually saying anything that solves my problems. Then Michael says "Just wait, 10 years, you'll figure it out."
    Just a very surreal scene....
