Can someone make him a mod that adds bright pink g wagons to the traffic?
People spam comments
I meant reply
Damn, that's a great idea!!! Maybe import the g-wagon from poly bridge 3.
@@NickorNikEgood idea!
Yes!!
In retrospect, I should have seen that ending coming.
Same. When he started the second circle, I thought nothing of it... we should know better by now.
Same xD @@DarvakSondrath
yes he drew squidward
He would have needed to put a sewerage outfall at the tip for you to see that
indeed...me 2
not matt slowly decending into being an architect. did you see how excited he was to put down an arch
Actually, I see it as a very engineer thing. He realized that nice things to look at make happy citizens and happy citizens make a more efficient city. So he put up a nice thing to look at that's completely separate from every other function of the city. Compartmentalization is *very* engineer.
Hey, arches are used to make strong bridges! No way that's an architect move. An arch will divert the forces perfectly to the anchor points.
Arches are a product of engineering, not architects... 😌
Arch-itects.
He's 69% architect at this point. I knew he could improve from his lowly engineer beginnings.
Can't be. An architect would put in a square, then put the arch in the wrong way, then fixing it on the 3rd go, right before sending three bills for 'customer asked for changes'.
"Not all criminals are architects, but all architects are criminals" -Matt (probably)
Matt needs a t-shirt of this
Matt should be a city layout designer he has the most efficient designs
The moment he put in the second circular (ball shaped) area... I knew it was gonna be efficient design 💪
He should consider becoming a civil engineer or even an architect
Boy, let me introduce the hexagon
Bit lopsided though....
@@YourDadsBoyfriendthats what she said (to you)
It was at this Moment when Matt said, that he will built another circle, and you realized that this city will be very efficient.
Man, I'd love to watch an entire series building a city using the whole map in CS2, like trying to make the prefect city or smth
At some point the game gets so slow it's not fun any more.
@@anlumo1ultra low density using realistic pop mod?
20:43 - Took me until this point to realize just how efficient he was going to make his city. As soon as he started questioning why he built two, it hit me. Well played.
I belive they raise the bridges/raised roads in areas like this so wildlife can travel safely without getting killed. They do the same thing with many pipelines.
It's like the inverse of those grassy bridges some places have put up.
As above so below
But why do the pipelines need to cross the road?
@@Skiman__to get to the other side
Around here, it’s usually because the ground beneath floods a lot.
We had Mountains of poop, Triangle cities, Inpossible take-off airports, poop floods, line cities, triangle cities, *american* oil fields, chaos highways...
A circle city? Normal day
can't forget Atlantis
Efficiently shaped city
Looks a bit like pokeball or cheese city

Okay the efficient layout caught me off guard if I’m being honest 😂
Why not hexagons, the bestagon in place of a circle? You'd get circle like qualities but with the ability to tile like a grid layout.
Because balls are not hexagons
are my balls hexagons? no, they are circles, and how would he make a penis joke without proper balls?
I've done hexagons, and while they look very cool and futuristic, the game does hate those corners.
I felt that milton keynes joke in my soul. It's 50% concrete and 50% 'live, laugh, love' houses but honestly I kind of live for it 💀
same 😂
Live laugh love for it
Watching Matt create the first circle, I straight away thought "he's going to make a second then a long shaft"
Well done Matt, you fail to disappoint
There is actually a city in germany named "Karlsruhe" that has a circular city center.
It looks really nice in Google Maps
That looks cool! All centred around that Schloss.
Circular Cities actually were a popular future city concept; EPCOT for instance, originally the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow, is based on circular layouts.
@@DonaldWWitt Paris also has a circular plan and there's a city in Hungary that's built similarly.
Matt: "Should I make a second circle"... me: It's a knob joke incoming
As someone who lived in Moscow, the rings roads (there are 3) were a nightmare to walk or drive.
Same as a resident of Beijing
Matt wants to build a circular city, builds a semi-circle
Well... he's half way there....
I love how he does all these "crazy" challenges and what I find most weird is the lack of mods he uses. I can't imagine going back to vanilla after years of mods. So much that I'm even worried I wont like Cities 2 at first because I'm worried a whole bunch of things I'm used will just not be there.
Like, after having Move it and the Network Multitool, going back to building without those just sounds painful.
1:00 we have "bridge roads" like that where i live, its mostly on the outskirts of town where it floods every time it rains, i think there might be rice fields there too, so it is technically useful
This circular City reminds me of FrostPunk. This starts Day 1 of me asking the Royal Civilized Engineer to Play Frostpunk
i have to say cities skylines is probably one of my favorite games youve played! i hope we'll get a new series once CS2 comes out...
:44 bridge is in a flood plain. Raised for the 500 year flood. As a former drainage engineer, I expected more from you :P
That's what I thought, too. That's a flood plain bridge.
Being raised like that might well make it a flood evacuation route too
Ok... i did not see that coming. Well played!
I was actually impressed for how long he built a circle without making it a pe**s. Love ur vids:D
People: "Great Brittain has too many roundabouts"
RCE: "Shut up and hold my schematics book"
Matt you should have used the hydroelectric dams since the are curved and fit the circle
Matt never amazes me how he insert most efficient design everywhere.
Right when he said “I’m gonna build another” you knew what was coming lmao
It looks like a frostpunk city but before the endless winter.
Also, quite a good game
Man i just cant stop watching this guy well done for maki’g this entertaining videos about cities skylines
17:32 this is literally the same thing as in a region in my area called "azoty", there are some chemical plants and next to them is a "medium school" a Polish school before collage
You should do a hexagon city next cause Hexagons are the bestagons. (They’re my favorite shape also I’m studying to be an Engineer. Not a civil engineer, but an engineer nonetheless.)
As soon as he started to build a second circular city, I knew what was coming. 😂
I damn near spit my glass of water onto my keyboard seeing that efficiency
The second you mentioned ypu were making a second round city i was waiting for the shape, it never came. Then BAM! it was all in my face.. never doubted you for a second
The best time off the day is when rce uploads and I have a tea it’s just magical
I've been watching so many Cities Skylines videos, I literally had a dream about RCE doing a collab with City Planner Plays, RT Game, and Biffa Plays...
They were each doing one step of building their city and then reacted to the end result. It was complete and utter CHAOS lmao
There was like. an alien invasion. and dinosaurs came back to life. one of the most entertaining dreams I've had
This video is the one I finally wanted to play this enough to wishlist it on my Steam and Epic stores, already was a big fan of Engitopia and all the awesome content of this game. Hoping it comes on sale and able to buy it, but keep up the great work in this game Matt! (And Engitoptia could use more work to the pokeball to expand on the circular idea, just thinking for content that I know you'd enjoy actually doing the work on.)
But the ending layout....I should've never doubted this was where Matt was going to begin with. Typical Engineer. But great vid! Kind hoping you do more with that concept at least!
You know it's a good day when RCE uploads. (which I think is almost every day)
Amen
One thing right off the bat I can see a benefit that with circular roads is that people can’t speed to fast of they have to turn constantly
Yep, the moment Matt said “I want another one” I knew what he was up to
I was watching this, fully expecting it to be made in the most efficient way possible. Matt, my friend, you did not disappoint. Cheers!
Please keep this as a series its so fun
Matt is showing potential to be an ice-apocalyptic city planne. All he needs now is to put a large generator at the very center
That is a rare architecture type bridge.
Now that you've started with circular cities, you might as well start a Frostpunk playthrough.
Yes, and main story in Frostpunk is also about London people,
I'd love to see this city continue. It looks very strong. ;-) I've been playing with mods more lately, now that I have a mod that lets me continue to earn Steam achievements. I was wondering if anyone who reads this and is currently playing the original Cities Skylines knows if there's a mod that lets you go beyond nine tiles that works with the latest update. All the "more than nine tiles" mods I can find are non-functional with the current version. Thanks!
81 Tiles 2 works afaict
I say this often but I hope you know how much joy these videos bring me 🖖♥️
The bridges for no reason would probably be either wild life or flood planes
The very moment that you said you were making a second circular city... I understood what has happening. You should have used the water for an additional effect.
Love you enthusiasm with you're videos, always puts a smile on my face
These circular cities work great for pedestrian areas.
I always love RCE cities skylines and Timberborn videos! They are some of my favorites
Thank you for doing a Cities skylines Video! I love the cities skylines videos the best on your channel!
you should get the plazas and promenades dlc for the the pedestrianized stuff and also high capacity service building so you don’t have to keep placing them
20:55 jajajajajaja I didn´t expect that xDD
I would love to see you build a brand new city that only runs in renewable energy if its possible at all and that someone will one day use it as a reference
18:46 This is beautiful chaos.
10:19 "rich people pay more taxes" oh my sweet summer child...
Day 69 (nice) of asking Matt to play Mindustry.
Did yall really think im stopping? Im not im continuing this until he plays it, its literally a tower defence and builder game, literally perfect for Matt, Matt please play it or just ask me to stop, anyway, im continuing if he doesn't do anything. See you tomorrow guys. :)
Fun Fact: today is my birthday.
Matt knows the ideal shape city is 2 circles with a stretching length with lakes at the end
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! I've been waiting for a new Cities Skylines video from you, Matt. You just made my day!
Such a strong city design!
Should've put either circle(eye) on either side of the river, so that the "face" is split in two, allowing him/her to drool.
You know its a good day when Matt posts a cities skylines video!
I should have realized how that was gonna end from the title, but I was naive and it flew completely over my head. Well played Mr. Engineer man.
That is absolutely brilliant!
as soon as you said you were gonna make another circle, i immediately knew you were going to build an efficient city...
I can’t wait for your CS 2 videos!!!
this is one of my favorite videos of yours
Awesome vid matt!!!
Oh, that reveal had me in stitches
Its 5pm, time to do the washing up whilst watching RCE
The bridge starting a long way from the water is something quite common on the European mainland, because rivers generally overflow during specific seasons. Not sure why you don't know about this concept.
This immediately bring Black Rock City (Burning Man) to mind! Very cool!
I want to say I totally agree about the MK reference as a local lol
When you made the second circle I already knew, you can't keep getting away with that!
Saudi Arabian Government taking notes to announce new city.
Bro nice
Welp the citizens are crying again😅
Hi
the setup to the final was so perfect I did not see it coming ! I dont know why I built it it from the corner.. me thinking yeah stupid matt you should have built it from the center... IT WAS ALL A SET UP !!
That's a bridge design to stop the road from flooding during certain times of the year. A good example would be the bridges on the Mississippi River.
YES MORE CITIES SKYLINES
The answer to title is yes. Single direction roads, each layer flips direction, single direction roads that connect the layers. Every single connection is either a split or a merge.
The busses have two modes, 1) around each circle in a loop, 2) from the inner to the outer in a loop.
Secondly, public transport everywhere, make it free. *No* *congestion* because there are no personal cars on the roads because nobody needs cars.
Thirdly, put districts close to each other, make sure people can walk to the shops no matter where they live and most can walk to their work.
I was able to get to a _million_ population back in 2015 or so. The only chokehold I had was the lack of a port.
Also don't waste precious land area on power plants, use water based wind turbines. Just hundreds of wind turbines, if you cover a big enough area then you'll _always_ find wind.
15:30 The size of that cat OMG!! 😂
You stole my idea! I just made a circular city a few weeks ago that did amazingly. You were the reason I played city skylines again in a long while and figured I should challenge myself like you do so I chose a circular template and it worked well. Great video even though I feel robbed. 😂
My biggest city ever was a circular city! On that same map too!! Crossing the river and continue the circle wasn't easy 😂
Man i knew it lmao. As soon i saw you start building the second circle, i knew it.
Tip: remove zoning from roundabout and busy junctions and sharp corners. It really helps with zoning where you actually want to.
Next time Matt is going to build a city in Frostpunk
0:57 there are plenty of examples of bridges/causeways that seemingly go over nothing... like a grass field and you might wonder why they do that... there are many reasons this could be the case.. like flooding... the region could be prone to rare flash floods... ie its a flood plain. if it doesnt happen often, it might look like a desert or a green field... maybe only once a year it floods.. but u dont want the road to be underwater.. then, there are regions that in tundra areas become boggy and marshy in warmer weather and are solid in winter.. it might be a wildlife migration route for protected species... there might be 2 bridges one needing to be higher, so maybe they thought.. just connect them both at the same height, having the road be more level in general.. this happens more with train tracks than roads... but lets say its a nation where it gets a lot of ice.. maybe a level road is better for fewer accidents? rather than a steep incline to the bridge.. the bridge might need to be high for specific tall ships to pass under.. im sure if you thought about it there are many reasons why this might exist...
Brilliant city design!
the ending is Complete INSANITY.
This is how cities were originally constructed; from the center out in a pseudo circle. It is perhaps the best way to construct
The 20 random minutes was worth it for the great last minute reveal!
We really should have caught that from the beginning, fair play matt, very efficient city, matt for PM
WHat a perfect design twist... I was oblivious until the last second 🤣
Matt builds circle, but ends up building the most efficient shape that architects will never dream of.
The ending we all saw coming, yet still enjoyed
21:00 Well I didn't see this one comming. 😂
