Back in the 1960s, we used to walk family members right up to the gate at Love Field. There was no security, and no one reviewed the luggage. Also, back then, the Dallas area was a much less populated area. The airport supported a much smaller passenger base. A few years ago, I showed up at 4:45 AM for an early flight and I was astonished to see thousands of people at the airport already. The airport is getting utilized a lot more than I think the planners ever imagined.
hi! i have a 50 min layover at this airport. would you say that’s enough time? i don’t want to miss the connecting flight lol. any insight will be much appreciated.
There is a history about how DAL Love Field dominating the domestic flights when Fort Worth used to have GSW Int'l Airport (Greater Southwest International Airport) when it struggled before it was shut down and was replaced by the world class DFW Int'l Airport.
Will be flying into DAL next week for the first time & I like to know the airport a little before flying in. Thank you for sharing this tour! Also…if there’s any advice that anyone would like to share, please do so! Again…THANK YOU!!!
I'm so glad it was helpful! DAL is a pretty small airport size-wise, and as such, there's not much to do to entertain yourself here, but it's a great airport to use for easy, convenient travel!
Went here for training some time ago(guess which company). Though while I didn't enjoy my tenure with SWA, they were one of the better airlines and Love Field one of the better airports in my experience. It's an overall much more "chill" traveling experience than others imo. The job wasn't for me, but I think I'll still fly with them when I can.
I enjoyed the video of love field becauses I’m gonna be flying out of Dallas tx instead of my home airport in Jackson ms I have a friend that lives in Denton tx and he’s gonna be going back to Denton and I’m gonna be going back with him and be flying to San Antonio tx to visit my cousin for a week before flying back to Jackson ms thru Houston hobby airport
From what I found in my modest research, DAL's imposed gate limit is as much political as it is practical, but it's also not uncommon with airports close to city centers, either. When I was there, there were still several empty gates, but in the heat of travel season, it might get kind of cramped!
Well I was hoping for more how to get around the airport. Parking, check in and boarding. What I got was a well done mostly useless tour guide history and sales brochure of the airport.
I appreciate your feedback; our community watches airport-related videos for many reasons! As a small, single-terminal airport, all check-in counters for all airlines are located in the same place, just inside the terminal to the right. DAL has three parking garages, A, B, and C. C is the closest and most expensive; it's attached directly to the terminal building. Garage A is across the discharge lanes from the main terminal. Garage B is beyond Garage A away from the terminal, and is the farthest and cheapest garage.

Alaska has since stopped flying to LAX. Delta has now started flying to LAX nonstop from Love, making it its 2nd route after ATL.

Dallas Love Field 20 gates cap should be removed. The airport should be allowed to have as many gates as it needs it.
