Next up for safety is building a rope and board ladder for the upstairs, emergency fire escape. Every 2nd story bedroom should have one. You have plenty of lumber scraps for that project.
So happy the railing is finally up and i must say it looks absolutely lovely. I know everything takes time but in the end you got there. When you buy a bistro set, it will be fantastic, sitting up there having a glass of wine or morning coffee with those awesome views. I know Freddie had to be away for a few days but she will be back before you know it. Looking forward to your next project.
The shirt she is wearing is University if South Carolina and we we are the gamecocks that’s what’s in the middle of the shirt, our mascot. I am a student at USC and I love seeing her wear the shirt❤
The railing looks so good. I wish you would have gone with the standard height for a railing because of Sadie and guests that may visit you. Sometimes just standing and looking over the land is nice. You could make it higher by adding small spacers in-between and another railing on top. With no wires of course that way sitting you can still look through it. I think it could look really pretty. Just a thought. But anyway you both work so hard and everything is coming together. I couldn't be happier for you. 🎉🎉🎉. I think the wires look really nice with the system you're using.

If you the cable thread continuous from top to bottom then maybe only 2 cable locks are needed I'm not sure only a suggestion

Your balcony would look boss with a small round Cafe table and two chairs for morning coffee/tea? Put a flowering plant in the middle of the table. I would string the lights overhead ... Over the balcony not on the new railing. Like lights over a little mini Cafe table.❤❤
Once you get the ceiling done, you should definitely put some ceiling fans around the whole house upstairs and downstairs. I’m sure you’ve been thinking about that.

Rodrigo, the fence cables will vibrate when it's windy and, where they pass through the holes in the uprights, the plastic sheath will wear away. Ideally, you need plastic grommets in the holes (larger holes). Maybe you can just use caulking compound.
Whoop!, The railing makes a huge difference and so much safer for you to use the "balcony". You are all such hard workers on Lola's Farm🌻
If you have an extra turnbuckle use it to tension your clothesline so it doesn't sag in the middle.

I’m so glad you are putting up the railing. It has worried me this whole time, especially every time you go out and sit on the balcony. I love that Freddie has come to Lola’s Farm. She fits right in! I understand that view. I hung out clothes all my life until around mid 20’s. Then it was suburban life. In 2015 we bought a homestead. And I again appreciate the simple things in life again. Current we have a homestead for sale in Tennessee. And soon a little mini farm. We are relocating to Florida. To a homestead of course. I look forward to be living near my youngest daughter. And she is a doctor now ! Yes my baby is a doctor! So proud of her. And I’m a bit not well. Been disabled since 2010 with a spinal injury and psoriatic arthritis. So I’ll be able to get good help at the hospital where my daughter works. If you come to the Carolinas definitely visit Tennessee. And Florida. Disney world ! We love Disney we go a few times every year. It feels like home. Epcot is my favorite. Very fun & educational. You guys would love it. Epcot is a Disney park. Disney has 4 amusement parks and 2 water parks, all are very fun. And Disney has packages at a good discount. You can plan a trip a couple years in advance and just pay a little each month until it’s time to go. Definitely a bucket list trip for your future. Y’all take care! LA

Great Video! One suggestion: have a section of railing in front of the double sliding doors that is removable...just in case you want move heavy bulky furniture up there on the 2nd floor. One day... it will be soo handy!!!
Nice appealing railing - both in the design and in the execution! Altering the turn buckles (from Ivan I suppose) was a brilliant trick. And “hiding” them at the end was something I did not see coming either. Some things to consider; add a large flat washer where the turn buckle rests against the beam to spread out the tension force, yes the railing is a little lower than requirement, the stainless of the cables will not deteriorate but the plastic coating will yellow/crack under the sun’s UV rays (cut it off later), the drilled holes are a soft spot for rust later as others have said.
