    SO crazy how something so simple ( of course with some nuances) took me so long to grasp...The idea of trying to "cut" calories use to give me such panic and past dieting screwed me up so bad. But with this all in mind, and now knowing how to do this while still eating high volume, and abundantly its seriously been such a game changer. Thanks Chelse :)

    Excellent description! So many have the mindset they don't need to count calories when eating a plant based diet, but then wonder why they aren't losing weight. Until you the understand caloric density of the foods you are consuming,, you need to count calories. They are plants, they are healthy, but its not a free for all.

      my problem is how much am I allowed to eat? How many potatoes, oats, rice, whole wheat pasta am I allowed to still keep my calories low? How many calories in carrots, beans, peas, corn? 1 cup raw brown rice = calories? 1/2 raw oats = calories? 500gms potatoes = calories? 1 cup raw pasta = calories? 1/2 carrots and peas and corn and beans = calories each. This is what I am looking for

    The videos that really help me, are the ones where you show, what you eat in a day, with easy, fast, no fuss, good tasting food. It is allways the same with me: On some days, I know what to make myself to eat and there are so many of those other days, where I seem to have a blanc and can`t come up with any good meals. This is when I binge the whole day long on foods and have no more controll over the calories. I am a very busy mom of three boys, widowed and self imployed. Two of my sons are grown up and still live with me every now and then. All my kids eat the standard western diet and I have to prepare it for them! The SOS foods are everywhere!!!! The house/ kitchen is stuffed full of food-traps. I am desperate! Because I know I won`t have time during the day to prepare myself good meals, I have started last week, to prepare my foods in the evening and then put them into the fridge. The trick is for me to eat those foods and not grab the other foods which are for my kids!!! Usually they taste better, but they also make me sick and fat. :-( So: easy, good tasting foods and what-I-eat-in-a-day-videos are allways a winner with me. There can`t be enough of those!!!!! Because once you get the hang of it and it becomes routine, all the other problems, like eating out, will fall into place. Habbit will take over. But until we change habbits, we have to get it into a routine and do it long enough I guess. :-) Huggs, Christina

      Maybe they could eat what you make. It's not bad food, it's healthy food that they could benefit from eating as well. If they don't like it, it sounds like they're old enough to cook for themselves. Best wishes.💕

      @christinaheesakacowden-wut3809 3 роки тому

      @@jillt.3195 It is way more complicated than that. The subject was also discussed with Clint Paddison of the Paddison Programm for rheumatoid arthritis in "Christina and Family considerations." Check Clint Paddison`s UA-cam channel if interested. I had a Skype interview with him in 2017 - I do suffer from rheumatoid arthritis since 2015. Hey Jill: Those men folk are not allowed in my kitchen, haha. They will make more mess than a herd of barbarians. And no, they do not eat my food, not if I would pay them to eat it. Stubbern they are :-) So I do have to get tough and tougher if I want to survive.

    My issue with the calorie density approach (and others have mentioned this) is that you cannot trick your body. If you eat tons of low calorie dense vegetables, etc. your stomach may temporarily feel full, but your body says, "Hey, that was only 200 calories. We need more calories!" So, you feel starving again in an hour or two.

    • @ChelseaMae
      @ChelseaMae  3 роки тому +13

      You’re not meant to trick your body. You’re designed to eat food and know how much to eat because you can stop when full. I will never recommend to someone to eat 200 calories in a meal. You should be eating about 500-600 calories per meal as an average women and you achieve this easily using the 50/50 veggie and starch method and eliminating processed foods. 😊

I know I'm loosing but not sure how to get away from weighing in daily. It's such a dieter thing I really want to stop that it's not accurate . yep that's how it works. I got a tanita measurement and finding out that I had to eat 200 cal less then I did to get into that deficit. I was like dang that's so unfair but that's what PCOS is. your BMR can be much lower and it's not east but finally dropping some weight slowly after a few weeks of trying it. I eat a lot in volume but not so much in calories and sometimes I frick up but I look at it like, oh well just enjoy this extra snack and get back to it again. In the past, I would have been like okay I fricked up now it doesn't matter anymore and I would go to town. allowing yourself to make mistakes and just let it be and continue with healthier habits forward. Changing your eating patterns and lifestyle habits can be though sometimes

  • @Maria-db9yb
    @Maria-db9yb 2 роки тому +1

    Huh. I literally thought that everyone knew what she just explained lol. The tricky part is figuring out what your maintenance calories actually are…because you need to know that in order to adjust how much to cut out from food. Unfortunately, everyone’s metabolism is different so the only way to accurately figure out your maintenance calories is just to eat normal for a week (while tracking all your calories) and if by the end of the week you are the same weight, then you know what your metabolic needs are. There are websites that can help you estimate it based on your gender, age, current weight, etc, but it’s not very accurate.

    • @ChelseaMae
      @ChelseaMae  2 роки тому

      The other alternative is to start reducing calories from your starting point.... providing you're maintaining now you don't need to find the number, you just need to reduce until you start seeing results. I share how to do that in this video ua-cam.com/video/VszfVR1M37M/v-deo.html

    I'm not vegan, but I don't eat meat. I have been struggling to keep my weight down and to loose weight. I am active every day walking for about three hours a day, sometimes running for short runs. I've been so so tired and I've been eating unhealthy for a while, eating mostly French fries, triggering my sweet tooth. I don't drink alcohol, smoke or anything like that but I've always been addicted to candy. When I went from a safe place eating low carb (eating meat) to now eating high carb everyday I found it hard to keep my strength up and loose weight, not gaining weight. I think I should quit buying French fries all together, but what should or could I eat as a quick meal instead? Fruit doesn't seem like anything other than candy to me and dont give me the nutrients I need to keep me sharp like I'm used to when I was eating low carb.

      I think it's common to not feel full if you're only eating veggies, you need to add some whole grains and some healthy fats to feel full. For losing weight my go to vegan meal is beans and rice, baked tofu and steamed or sauteed veggies. I also eat snacks like apples and mandarin oranges because they're easy to peel. Sometimes if you crave sweets fresh fruit helps. You can cut potatoes into wedges and bake them if you crave potatoes but limit the amount of oils in them. You sound like you're active so I would try and add proteins after runs and walks to keep your muscles strong. I like orgain vanilla bean protein powder. That can also help sweets cravings.

      Caloric deficit… the first two weeks are typically the hardest. If you try fasting for a day or two and the. Doing caloric deficit it’s makes it a bit “easier”

    What about when people say if you cut calories your body will go into starvation mode and burn less 😐

    I tried "vegan" thoughts before but after I ate that beyond meat It tasted really bad I never thought about it again until now because I see vegan people have the best skin

    I'm vegan, fat, in my menopause and have severe sleep apnea, so loosing weight is very hard. 🙈 Just reducing calorie intake is not nearly enough.

      You may need to increase exercise and make sure you are eating NO processed foods for 5-6 days a week. This has been the trick for me. Potatoes are the base of my diet ( as opposed to rice or pasta).

      I find sometimes it might be helpful to track calories for a day to see how many you really are eating. I thought I was just eating carbs and going to lose weight, but then I counted and realized I was eating 2,300 on average a day and gaining. Now I'm just trying to not eat when I'm truly not hungry- snacking when bored was my weakness!
