    I'm four days after TKR, right leg only, this is a good summary. Too much pain to do much yet, but I'm trying.

    Excellent group of exercises thank you, very similar to the ones taught by my physio team here in the UK, I couldn’t do the bridge exercise for a few weeks but slowly got there but the team encouraged me because of the importance of strong glutes as well as quads as you indicate. Great to have this video reminder to watch and to do the exercises alongside yourself😁 now at 8 weeks and I’m pleased with the daily small wins I’m achieving and I’m still focusing on these exercises 2 or 3 times daily if I can. Many thanks for your time and expertise.

      Thank you for your kind words. It sounds like you are working hard and have a great team on your side. Your hard work and consistency will continue to pay off as you continue to rehab and recover after surgery.

    big help, are most of these right after surgery or a few weeks out

      Most all of these I have patients start within the first week out from surgery, Some, such as the bridging may need to be modified due to pain or range of motion limitations initially.

    had two tkr this year- have done these plus all the ones from my pt- and ride my stationary bike-(doing 5 miles a day now) first leg is perfectly straight and an 131 degrees on the flex (8 months post) second leg at 8 weeks - extention 100% flexing at 123- still have fluid so that will get better- my advice to anyone- do some every day and if have a tkr scheduled- do these pre op- I did made a huge difference- - make your quads as strong as you can before surgery

    Have you got a video of exercises/stretches 10 weeks post broken patella surgery? Still only on 80 degrees. Tried the bike but ended up with lots of pain and inflammation. 🙏

    • @KneeReplacementTherapists
      @KneeReplacementTherapists  7 місяців тому

      Hi, I don’t have anything specific to patella fracture and surgery but essentially all exercises and stretches can apply to your situation unless you’ve been provided specific precautions from your surgeon or healthcare team.

      I recommend consulting with your personal healthcare providers as I don't fully know what you are describing. What you can try, though are ankle pumps moving your foot up and down to encourage blood flow and reduce swelling.

Pain sometime will be less. Walking I m doing morning and evening almost 40 mnts then I don't feel any pain. Only when I slide or sit or get up . Doing all my house hold work. Pls can you suggest something. 🙏🙏

      It is difficulty to specifically tell you what is causing your pain without a personal assessment, but it may be secondary to some persistent muscle weakness in you quadriceps of your thigh. I recommend trying some strengthening exercises you can fit into your day in addition to continue your walking program, that's great! Some exercises you can try are seated knee extensions, sit to stands from a chair, supported squats, partial lunges, and step ups. It will take some time to build up your strength, but as you do hopefully you will tolerate these things better with less pain.

    Extremely helpful set of exercises. However, how an one do hip strengthening exercise if one has not achieved a proper knee bend, say 3 weeks after surgery

    • @KneeReplacementTherapists
      @KneeReplacementTherapists  2 місяці тому

      Thank you for your question. You may have to modify your technique with those exercises. For example not bending the knees quite as much or performing through a small amount of motion. Hope this helps!

      @KneeReplacementTherapists  11 днів тому

      You're very welcome... this is not uncommon, especially early on after surgery. Stick with it and as your leg heals and you regain strength you will start to see improvements. Best wishes to you!

    Absolutely impossible! 😢 im at day 6. I can barely bend by leg to 70 degrees, and that's with pain. I cannot lift it up off the bed at all. If I strain, i've sometimes managed a fraction of an inch and the pain under my kneecap is excruciating.

      I'm sorry to hear about your struggles. Understand it is only the first week after surgery and these days are the toughest. Little by little it will get better and each person progresses at their own rate. Stay the course and best wishes to you.

      Sorry to hear about your continued difficulties. At this point the best thing you can do is figure out what physical activity and exercises you are able to tolerate and can perform consistently (ideally multiple days per week). This can be as simple as walking, swimming or pool exercises, using a recumbent bike or something else. Physical activity / exercise will help build strength and mobility, decrease stiffness, and long-term will help with pain management. A light to moderate intensity is perfectly ok, it's the consistency that is most important. Hope this helps!

    Why would i be having so mych pain/ uncomfort trying to push leg str8 doung that knee extension excercise 3 mnths after surgery. Stuck at 115 ish degrees

    • @KneeReplacementTherapists
      @KneeReplacementTherapists  9 місяців тому

      It is hard to give a definitive reason. It is not uncommon to still have some pain at 3 months out from surgery as everything is still healing, you have inflammation and scar tissue setting in, and all the soft tissue around the knee is still adapting to the new replacement, too.

    • @KneeReplacementTherapists
      @KneeReplacementTherapists  9 місяців тому

      You can think of early on meaning approx. the first 4 weeks after surgery. Many of these exercises you can and probably will continue to do past that point, but also you'll probably start incorporating some more functional and dynamic exercises into your routine.

    Hello sir, My mother had Total knee replacement surgery recently (2 days ago) but she rejects every food we give(she will reject to take food or eat in small amount)
    She says that whenever she eats food she gets vomiting sensation. Please tell me a solution

      This is a better question for your personal doctor. Sometimes trying simple foods like saltine crackers or toast may work. Nausea and loss of appetite can be caused by the anesthesia from surgery, pain medicine or other medicine, or pain and discomfort in general.

    I truly feel like ill never get to 120° bend let alone more. It just wont continue to improve

    • @KneeReplacementTherapists
      @KneeReplacementTherapists  9 місяців тому

      The good news is most people can accomplish everything they need with 115 deg, so gaining more bend will be beneficial but not absolutely necessary.

  • @SheilaEnglish2
    @SheilaEnglish2 7 місяців тому

    Bridging? That wouldn’t be for several weeks surely. You have to be able to bend the knee enough to go it

    • @KneeReplacementTherapists
      @KneeReplacementTherapists  7 місяців тому +1

      It certainly is variable person to person. Many people may not have enough range of motion or just not feel comfortable with the knee bent in that position, and this is normal... usually the first weeks the patient will not have the knee bent up as high and perform more of a modified bridge, a point I should have made in the video! Thank you for the good question / point.

    Why does the knee feels like it’s jumps is that just reflex

    • @KneeReplacementTherapists
      @KneeReplacementTherapists  10 місяців тому

      It could be a reflexive muscle reaction or muscle spasm. It can also be caused by nerve irritation as the leg heals and recovers after surgery.
