Hi Tim! So I had a TKR on 4/19/22. Following surgery, the pain meds could not be adjusted, as I was getting sick and very lightheaded where I couldn’t participate in any form of therapy while still in the hospital. I was transferred to a rehab facility where little to no P/T took place, not even while lying down in bed. I developed my first bout of diverticulitis while in rehab, so was given IV therapy for a week, and again, little to no P/T was done. I was released from rehab, still with diverticulitis symptoms and about a week later, was rushed to the hospital with either a continued bout or 2nd bout of diverticulitis. Until it fully cleared up, I could not participate in any other form of P/T other than “home” therapy where the therapist stayed with me for like 5 mins and did hardly anything. I began outpatient therapy on 6/16, (a long way off from the surgical date) and went 2x/week until covid hit me on 7/12. My therapist asked me if I had access to a pool and with research, I found an aquatic facility that took my insurance, and I’ve taken 5 sessions so far. My insurance approved me for 5 more visits with more pending, but they won’t approve both “land” and pool therapy at the same time. So, I’m going to continue with aquatics, my surgeon approved it with my commitment to continue with home exercises. Enter Tim Fraticelli! I love doing your exercises at home, I’ve combined it with the MedBridge Go program my last therapist sent me and I’m hoping beyond hope that I will soon begin to heal, walk, and be without pain. I know this has been a long saga, but any additional help/videos you can lead me to, would be greatly and is much needed. Thank you for all you do!
I 70 yr old woman, had a total knee replacement on July 24th Doing my PT, I’ve had him at my home 2 times since I’m out of hospital, starting new week tomm Monday, for 3x’s a week, I’m doing ok . Pain is not terrible, I do feel stiffness when I get up in morning but I do my ankle pumps and knee slides in bed whatever I can do lying down. Then proceed with the standing exercises. Had a bit of swelling yesterday and today not too much, I’ve been elevating my leg and icing it when resting feels better. I’ll be seeing PT Tommorrow morning. He will evaluate it. I feel I’m going ok course we want things to happen sooner but this is a process each day, each week. Lots of patience. Good luck yo all that are going through this surgury and process too.
I had a total right knee replacement 3 weeks ago. It has been one of the most painful operations I have ever had. To add to this I had a total left ankle replacement and left toe fusion at the same time 10 months ago. This was a total different exercise program which interferes with my right knee replacement exercises. Your video has helped me move along. I will admit doing the exercise and pain is overwhelming sometimes. I like your video.I am 71 years old and the stress and pain is incredible but you just have to keep pushing forward. I found your video helpful as there are so many bad ones out there. Thank you so much
Just came across this short exercise routine. Total knee replacement nearly 4 weeks ago and the exercises given from 1st week by hospital were nearly impossible, overly long and complicated while they tried to cater for everybody, so I was struggling. Your bite sized exercise routine is wonderful. I am on day 3 and it’s getting easier and easier and I am walking much more easily. Thank you so much for your clear instructions, your gentle encouragement. You are a star!
I’m into week 3 post op and have just found your channel. I have been doing the exercises but getting through them with a ‘personal trainer’ is so much better!! Thankyou!!
I'm 1 week out from surgery. And just found your channel 1/2 hour ago. I have a PT coming to my house but he's filling out paperwork, rushing me through the exercises and then he's gone. I appreciate your encouragement and explanations. Thanks Tim
I just had a full knee replacement in January. I really like your 10 minute video of exercises for after knee replacement. I find it very safe and easy to do. Could you make a video for three months or longer after the surgery? Thanks Tim for this video!!!!!!
Wow, this is extremely helpful. Tomorrow is 3 weeks since my total knee replacement and the visual instruction you provide is straightforward, educational and therapeutic. It validates the how to do of this exercises that I received in paper form, watching along with you has helped tremendously! Than you for such insight, it is greatly appreciated 🙏🙏🙏
Very helpful, just going to have right knee replacement next Monday. I will certainly follow your exercise regime along with the one prescribed by my physiotherapists.
Hi, I've just come across your video, it's been 3 weeks since I've had my revision surgery for total knee replacement, I'm sure it's worse second time around, just want to thank you for showing how to do the exercises properly,l shall certainly be following up on any future videos you do.
I just had total knee replacement on both knees at the same time and it is awesome to have you walk me through these exercises. Thanking you in advance for your help and kind consideration in this very important matter.
Oh my god poor you. I think one knee is bad enough I was in so much pain with one. You are so brave. I'm.5months in since I got my op done. Now my other knee needs done. Waited 2 years for the 1st one. It's getting better but not fully bending yet. Less pain. Hope you are not in too much pain.
So happy to have found your videos as others have said much easier to do with someone to watch … ten days out from my second knee replacement so gonna work harder with this one to get to 110° faster end goal 120° 👍🏼👍🏼🤞🏼
I had TKR 3 weeks ago. These are a a better discription of the exercises then I’ve gotten from my pt and are stimulating to do they 20 times a day with someone. This is a tremendously helpful series. My deepest thanks.
Right knee done in February and the left knee 25 July. Exercises same as my doc/PT prescribed. I am doing a number of exercises additional to what you are showing. Nice to do the exercises with you. (From South Africa)
I have arthritis in both knees but I have not had surgery due to having hip replacement 2 weeks ago ..are these exercises good for me to strengthen my knees plz??
I am 12 days out from having had a TKR. This video is so helpful, as it makes it very much easier doing these exercises with you. I am now doing them 4 times a day and see daily improvements.Thank you so much. Would like details of the follow on video.
I just had replacement 4 days ago. Went to 2 PT sessions already but yesterday i couldn’t do a leg lift at all. Listened and followed your video and managed to do all ten. Wow, i will be following you in the future, thank you so much!
Tim I am 5 weeks post operation so lucky to have found your TKR exercise video, it definitely has inspired me to be more motivated by doing these exercises along with you. Would love to know if you have follow on exercise. Thank you.
Thank you 🥲 I had a TKR in 2015. 3 days ago I sat on floor going through some papers packed away. While I didn't feel like I was exerting my TKR knee, I was in that position leg stretched out for quite awhile. Once I got up, I felt nothing. The next day I couldn't even walk. My knee hurt too bad to bend backward or forward 😢 it feel like when I had the surgery. I couldn't remember what exercises I had done. I found your channel and thanks to your exercises, I am getting back my range of motion and movement again. Still hurts a little but pain is lessening. I don't know what I did that hurt my leg after all of this time but your channel is helping. These were the exercises I had to do in 2015 but couldn't remember. Thank you so much.
Thanks for putting this video together-I am 3 weeks post TKA and am using this in addition to my PT sessions. It is helpful to have someone to follow along with. Thanks again!
The one I just had done was a revision, I'm rocking it at pt. They couldn't believe how fast I did things the day after surgery. I enjoy doing these exercises.
I'm so pleased I found your helpful video today. I'm 7.5 mnths post TKR (including MUA) and haven't had the easiest recovery. This is most helpful video I have come across. Thankyou so much.
Love these exercises and how well you explain how to do them and what they are for. I had my second knee replacement 6 weeks ago and can incorporate these exercises into my current program. You are a delightful young man.
Hi Cathy! May I ask what other program you’re doing? I have searched endlessly for more videos and have even asked Tim as well, but nothing that even comes close to Tim’s. I want to add more on to this, but can’t seem to find any others that I already do. Please help?
Hi, just curious if you are still experiencing knee tightening/ swelling I'm 2 weeks post and doing everything I'm told but the swelling and stiffness is extremely painful
@@melissaa2639 I’m not sure who your question was meant for, but I’d like to say I had mine done in 4/19/22 and still have a lot of stiffness/swelling and pain. I had some other medical issues that pushed my therapy way back, so I’m trying to catch up on it as best I can. I go to aquatic therapy 2x/week, just hit a mini peddler and 2 dvds from growyoungfitness but it’s not like Tim’s at all ☹️. I wish you all the very best and hope you’re feeling better real soon!
@@jo-annegreco9885 I think I am feeling anxious because my PT guy told me that if I don't move and do exercises scar tissue will develop and could lead to corrective surgery. I thank you for taking the time to reply. And hope you have a speedy recovery 🙏
@@melissaa2639 yes, the first PT person told me I may have to have what’s called a revision or something like that, I asked my surgeon & he told me I don’t need it. I think the PT.s tell us that so they can guarantee we continue to come to them but it scared the hell out of me when the PT told me that! If you can, try to massage the incision and surrounding areas, especially where the swelling is the worst, as hard as you can stand it, to move the scar tissue around, ice & elevate and feel better real soon!
I’m almost three weeks post op total knee replacement. Your video will help me focus and push through the pain and do the work to restore function to my leg.
Hi Tim I had a total knee replacement two weeks ago after having a high tibia osteotomy 12 years ago Working through these exercises with you has been wonderfully motivational, I saw my hospital physio today and she was mega impressed , im already walking without any canes or crutches and am doing one mile walks everyday All this is down to following your on line exercises, well done you have helped me enormously
That’s fantastic Richard! I’m creating a full total knee course to go with a book I’ve written. Would you be interested in having access to it right now?
I am 4 wks post op m feel so much better doing my exercises with you, I live in Uk so post op is up to the individual, we are given a sheet of exercises to do , very confusing when you are on your own, so great to see someone do them with you, you see exactly how to do the exercise and how much pressure or extension is required thank you very helpful I’ll be using this for my exercises from now on. ♥️
I just had TKR 3 weeks ago and, I am glad I found your channel. I can do the whole leg lift quite easily but the lower leg with the foam roll is very painful at my knee. I am seeing a slow progress though, thank you for your help
Tim, thank you very much for taking the time to do that. It is a fantastic encouragement for the days between physical rehab. I do these twice each day 👍…. Thanks again. I have certainly subscribed.
I'm heading into my 4th week post surgery, full replacement. You do a few additional things to what I have learned. I like the additional pull with towel to increase flexion. I'm a 77 yr. old gay male and your youthful voice and personality are refreshing. I'm aiming for a full recovery because I have a brother who, despite an additional surgery still has pain. Another much older friend had the same experience, though I don't think he was in great shape before the surgery. It was getting very difficult to walk before the surgery and now I can carefully walk without the cane, though I carry it nearby. Thanks for the shared video. I will use this again.
thank you 18 weeks and after prednizone withdrawal I'm back with you and feeling better cwhew long recovery but meditations giving myself ok to feelings I've been following you since jan10
Excellent and well explained excersises I had my surgery on 02-16-23 and I’m doing good so far now I can add those to schedule and keep going. Thanks so much.Blessings.
I will have knee replacement this year on September 13 ,I will definitely make this exercise they seem to be simple end helpful, thank you so much for the info.
Thanks so much, Tim. I'm doing my pre-hab, 6 weeks out from TKR surgery date and I love that you gave us this set of exercises in real time and so nice to have some company! I'll be using these up to date of surgery and well beyond.
Well, I feel like we are in a little group here. I have had both hips replaced 4 years apart, and now I've gone through a right knee replacement as well about 1 month ago. These exercises are very important. We all go through those times when we aren't in the mood, hurting at the time, and / or are too stiff to motivate yourself to do the exercises at home. Especially when you are alone with nobody to hold you accountable. Please trust an old veteran of joint replacements. The reason you are feeling stiff has something to do with the scar tissue in the surgical area. Most of these initial exercises help break up the scar tissue and allow for better movement and restoring your flexibility. "Motion is lotion," a nurse once told me... Gotta allow yourself the time and encouragement to get these done on a fairly consistent basis. It will not be the most pleasant part of your day, but I would like to reassure you that it will benefit you considerably more if you are loyal to these exercises. Good luck and a speedy recovery...
So glad you found it! I’m releasing a series of videos for total knee rehab. Can I send them to you for free? Email me at Tim@PTProgress.com and I’ll send them over :) I just need additional feedback from more people who are going through a knee replacement!
Thanks Tim and it is a Great video indeed. I am scheduled for a simultaneous bilateral UKA. What are the most effective pre hab exercises as I have only two more weeks to go? Thanks Fromm Germany
Very good video and appreciate the video very much! I had a TKR surgery scheduled in February 2023 and during surgery surgeon uncovered a torn ligament in the lower part of my leg where the TKR was performed. Surgeon indicated this was the worse leg in his 30-year history. My leg was placed in a brace for about 8 weeks to limit movement in the leg to limit bending. During these 8 weeks, I had very limited rehab such as ankle pumps, ankle circles, ankle moves left to right, marching, gluteal sets / buttocks squeezes, forward/backward leg swings in the brace, walked with a walker using the brace and then without the brace (about 10-17 steps). Now, working on strengthening the surgical leg and performing your 6+ exercises 2 - 3 times a day. I have the following questions: 1. Just started to lift leg into bed without using a foot leash loop / strap. So, I'm still experiencing difficulty with straight leg raises as I'm only able to lift the leg with the help of a foot leash loop / strap. Wondering if you may have any further exercises to help strengthen the leg muscles in my situation? 2. Performing the short arc quads with the assistance of the foot leash loop / strap. Wondering if you have any further exercises to help me eliminate the foot leash loop / strap? 3. Noticed a dimple indentation just above the kneecap. Wondering if you may have any further exercises to help eliminate this dimple indentation. 4. Unable to make any progress with walking with a walker without the brace (about 10-17 steps) but limited to this distance as I'm experiencing problems with my other leg giving out on me as a TKR is needed in this leg but not yet scheduled. Next appointment is mid-September 2023 to discuss direction and next steps. Wondering if you may have any further suggestions or actions to discuss with the knee surgeon? 5. Rehab being performed from home myself. Wondering if there is any further exercises to help in my situation? Any suggestions, thoughts, direction or additional exercises would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!
Hi I had a full knee replacement in Jun 15th of this year. I want you to know that I love your 10 Minute work out. Since I found it last week I do it 2 or 3 times a day.Thank you. I have been trying find the previous video where discuss the 6 most important exercises for knee replacement. Could u help? Ty
Am Carolyne. I had TKR on both knees. Your clear demos have helped me so much with the 2nd Painful R knee done on 11/17/22. I am getting there though still very tight esp at night @90° Thanks so much.
I just had Total knee replacement about 3 weeks ago, the exercises are so difficult, because the knee feels so tight on the inside and the outside, the inflammation has gone down somewhat, I am icing it as much as possible, but it's very frustrating that I don't have any more than about 85° of bend. I'm currently going to physical therapy but struggling to do some of the exercises I'm hoping that this will get easier. My fear is that I'm developing scar tissue. Thank you so much please workouts, if there's anything you can possibly add to help me I would greatly appreciate it
I'm in lots of pain starting week 2. I just did my exercises but will use your video the next time. I've been doing these and more with PT. It's rough.
Thanks Tim I'm in a process of my exercise both of my knee replacement. Found your exercise is very helpful and very well to follow .your new subscriber.
Thanks! i had my partial knee replacement last week and am using these exercises three times a day to work te knee. i have the idea that the bandage on the knee prevents easy stretching as it is tightly attached to the skin and therefore does not easily give in when stretching the knee. Other than that, all is well. thanks for this clip!
I am 1 week out from right total knee replacement. I want to thank you for making this PT video. This is actually what I was looking for. What diameter is that roll? Thanks again for your help.
Fantastic video extremely helpful and with you doing the pt with your followers is why I enjoyed your video - I'm 4 weeks po and on road to full recovery but my pt just seem to push me a little to hard and I'm down the next day. You video allows me to still do the full pt workout at more my own pace to strengthen my knee and I can pause you too work my other knee too since it is being replaced in a few months. Which when I go to therapy they will only concertatre on the one surgery knee and my other knee is buckling. So now I have the best of work outs fir both my knees in the convience of my own home.. Overall thank you think you and your videos are amazing......keep us the good work - you are highly appreciated
Hi Tim. I have found your 10minute workout really helpful. I am 4weeks post total knee op and need to progress. Can’t seem to find your follow on routine. Have/will you do one? Many thanks Tim.
Do you have more videos with exercises for the knee ? I am 4 weeks out and unsure if I just keep doing these or if I should be progressing to other exercises. Ty for a clear video.
I’m 2.5 weeks out from having had TKR. I did 5 full weeks of pre-PT I’m now doing my home PT. If I may suggest music. As a baby boomer who teaches movement classes to baby boomers and seniors I know how motivating music from back in the day can be to completing an exercise without even realizing it.
I’m going to be having TKR in April, because of my height and weight my Dr. has turned me over to a “high risk” Dr and he doesn’t have openings any sooner. Anyway having just found your UA-cam channel and a couple others with MDs answering lots of questions I’m feeling less afraid about having this done. Can you go over what exercises I should work on to prepare my knee for surgery.
Thank you. This is very helpful. My husband is 3.5 weeks post op. It’s his second knee replacement on the same knee. He is experiencing a painful thigh with the flexing and extending exercises. Given that he is 84, do you have any tips for the thigh
I had replacement four days ago and it's three in the morning and I watch the video to be honest with you if it's great to have somebody that just had a knee replacement and use them as your subject so folks will experience or how painful it is. You obviously make it look so easy. I'm 64 years old and can make it through but the leg pickups are almost impossible this point in time. I use my good left need to help lift the leg up that works.
@@PTProgress very much I showed it to my PT guy and he said the only one I shouldn't do so early is the towel under the knee and lifting the legs. It's been 5 days and he said I'm over 95 degrees and I can go straight. I'll save the link and do it a couple times a day

Hope you were able to find the other resources at totalkneebook.com as well! All the best!
Tim
I am 5 weeks post operation so lucky to have found your TKR exercise video, it definitely has inspired me to be more motivated by doing these exercises along with you.
Thanks a million it is painful but worth it 🙏🏼❤️
The one I just had done was a revision, I'm rocking it at pt. They couldn't believe how fast I did things the day after surgery. I enjoy doing these exercises.
Great video! Would you please add a video for week 4-8? Thank you!
Yes I have pt this afternoon this exercise you doing this good thank you
I'm so pleased I found your helpful video today.
Hi, just curious if you are still experiencing knee tightening/ swelling
I'm 2 weeks post and doing everything I'm told but the swelling and stiffness is extremely painful
Easy for you to do Tim. :)TKR Mar 5th.. Will be putting your workouts to the test. TY
Thanks for this advice, great doing the exercises with a PT. Very motivational
Hi Tim
I had a total knee replacement two weeks ago after having a high tibia osteotomy 12 years ago
Working through these exercises with you has been wonderfully motivational, I saw my hospital physio today and she was mega impressed , im already walking without any canes or crutches and am doing one mile walks everyday
All this is down to following your on line exercises, well done you have helped me enormously
Just found your channel it's helpful that you are doing it with us. I'm 12 days post-op
Fantastic! You’ll find even more videos and resources on my site: www.totalkneebook.com
Tim, you are a rockstar. Day 15. So grateful to have found your videos.
I like doing these exercises with you. I just had my knee done a month ago. Great video dude.
Thank you so much. I have total knee right replacement. I love ❤️ your channel I will be using this three times day. Thank so much
thank you 18 weeks and after prednizone withdrawal I'm back with you and feeling better cwhew long recovery but meditations giving myself ok to feelings I've been following you since jan10
Excellent and well explained excersises I had my surgery on 02-16-23 and I’m doing good so far now I can add those to schedule and keep going. Thanks so much.Blessings.
Two days after knee replacement surgery. Thank you
Great presentation!!!!❤
Thank you so much tim for this video. it really helps me alot to recover. God bless your fab work to help people.
Great presentation very helpful
Just found your channel ,I am 3weeks post op and wish I had found it after op . Excellent video ,so helpful yo do exercises alongside you
So glad you found it!
Hi again Dr Tim, PLEASE add some more TKR exercises 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thank you. I have been using this video as I am just over a week post op. I look forward to doing them with you. It brilliant. I am in South Australia
You got this!
I have the following questions:
Thank You!
Just had meniscus surgery 4 days post op and find these exercises & your compAny helpful!
I had my left knee replacement one month back.your vedio is very helpful .
Ty
This is so helpful. What a difference it makes. Thank you.
Thank you so much please workouts, if there's anything you can possibly add to help me I would greatly appreciate it
Thanks so much for the exercise. It really helped me a lot. Though it was difficult to do in the beginning.
thanks so much its a good exercise video and helps motivate me with small results adding up one day at a time!
I'm in lots of pain starting week 2. I just did my exercises but will use your video the next time. I've been doing these and more with PT. It's rough.
Today is my 7th day. I had a complete knee replacement surgery. Just wait to be glad I did this right now it’s like I am thinking what have I done
Thank you 😊
Thanks, Tim! Could you make a video for a hip replacement HEP too?
Thanks Tim I'm in a process of my exercise both of my knee replacement.
Found your exercise is very helpful and very well to follow .your new subscriber.
Thanks! i had my partial knee replacement last week and am using these exercises three times a day to work te knee. i have the idea that the bandage on the knee prevents easy stretching as it is tightly attached to the skin and therefore does not easily give in when stretching the knee. Other than that, all is well. thanks for this clip!
Really helpful. So clarity. Thank you very much 🙏🙏
I am 1 week out from right total knee replacement. I want to thank you for making this PT video. This is actually what I was looking for. What diameter is that roll? Thanks again for your help.
Thanks for your work it does help me . I’m just 4 weeks tkr still very stiff .
👏👏 I’m 2weeks post TKR Very HELPFUL VERY
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for sharing! I wish you the best with your recovery!
better that your PT pushes you, and not just sticks you on a piece of machinery
Makes it so much easier to follow someone thanks
Had bilateral total knee replacement. Done with PT after six weeks and doctor released me.
Thank you so much for this video. It’s been very helpful I’m I 1 week week post op.
Very helpful thanks😊
I’m 2.5 weeks out from having had TKR.
I did 5 full weeks of pre-PT
I’m now doing my home PT.
If I may suggest music.
As a baby boomer who teaches movement classes to baby boomers and seniors I know how motivating music from back in the day can be to completing an exercise without even realizing it.
Thank you! I'll see you in the morning!
Knee replaced 5 weeks ago, fully recovered and running around again, no worries.
Excellent, now if I can just find the motivation.
I just get my knee surgery thanks for sharing I'll do all this thanks ❤
Great video, 6 days post, yesterday was the worst day ever. no pain just swollen and no motion.
Hi Pat - good luck with your recovery! Hope you found the video to be helpful
@@PTProgress very much I showed it to my PT guy and he said the only one I shouldn't do so early is the towel under the knee and lifting the legs. It's been 5 days and he said I'm over 95 degrees and I can go straight. I'll save the link and do it a couple times a day
I did all those exercises with my inhome PT…these quickend my recovery…
Thank you!!!! Great. I’m pre surgery 😊
Thank you! At week five; glad to have found you.
This so helpful, thank you! ❤
Thank you
