Avoid Visiting This Place in Ho Chi Minh City 🙅♂️ Go HERE Instead! SAIGON, VIETNAM 🇻🇳

- Vietnamese visit here instead for authentic local experience, NOT Ben Thanh Market ❌
When in Saigon, you must go to these 2 local markets - instead of Cho Ben Thanh. Ben Thanh was too much like a tourist trap to us. At least 30% more expensive than nearby local markets. 💸
Watch this video and decide which market is for you when you visit HCMC
Tan Dinh Church (aka Pink Church ⛪️) is also nearby so why not visit here?

I thought Vietnam is known for thier dragonfruit. Good video guys. You guys are one of my favorite vloggers.
That’s good to know. We’re getting Dragonfruit the next time we go 😁
You’re so sweet! Thank you so very much 🥹😃🫰❤️🙏
I had visited Saigon last year and I had one of the best time of my life there and I love the food tour by motorbike from all of their Districts, and I always haggle my prices down at the Ben Thanh market in District #1 to my price. And the Durian is the most popular fruit there and their famous egg coffee is also so deliciously good.
Really!!?? Durian in Vietnam!? Didn’t know that! 🤔
Honestly, we tried their egg coffee and we weren’t a fan of it. It’s definitely an acquired taste.
I am enjoying this series on Vietnam. You guys are lovely
Glad to hear you’re enjoying it. Thank you so much for the kind words 😃🫰❤️🙏
As a Vietnamese person I have to say that Ben Thanh market is only for tourists, locals definitely won't buy there and you already know why :)
Right!!!??? Couldn’t agree with you more. We were so shocked after going to the other market. Price difference was huge 😅
Again great video guys I love pho Thanks for the vid Please don’t stop keep it going
Thank you so much 😃🫰❤️🙏
Appreciate the love and support 🫰🫰❤️❤️
Everything in district 1 is expensive due to rents, rent for shophouse cost $300-1000 USD/mth around Saigon, but can start at $10.000 to $30.000 USD a month in district 1. Stalls in regular markets cost couple thousand USD, but A small stall in Ben Thanh market 20yrs ago cost 1-2 billion VND ($50.000 - $100.000), imagine how much they be today. If you bargain 90% off in district 1, they will shut down their businesses.
Wet markets open very early around 6am to 11am, because meats are slaughtered midnights and sold on the same day, no refrigeration, household items are cheap in supermarket vs the typical markets, because sometimes they buy from the supermarket to sell at the markets, but fresh meat, fish, fruits and vegetable's in supermarkets no matter how fresh cannot beat wet markets.
Chợ Phạm Văn Hai market in Tan Binh district, the first concentration of Koreans area in Saigon 30yrs ago, used to be the butcher market early as 3am. so meat are 1 day fresh.
Northern Vietnam known for their lychee and longan, southern Vietnam known for dragon fruits with 3 different colours, white, red and yellow. During the pandemic they couldn't sell them, so restaurants had to rescue by making dragon fruit noodles, dragon fruit bread, dragon fruit rice paper etc...and in VN they have sticky jack fruit "mít tố nữ"
Wow! Thank you so much for taking the time to explain everything 😃🫰❤️🙏
Totally makes sense about Ben Thanh Market and why they have to be priced much higher
Wish we went earlier for the wet market. Next time for sure we’re going early. Really poor planning on our part 😔
Now we’re gonna have to try the Lychee and Dragonfruit for sure next time we go 😃
You should try visiting the CHO LON MARKET - formally known as Binh Tay Market - as it's a wholesale market with a fixed price, without the need for negotiation. It's very convenient for Asian foreigners!
Really!? Oh wow! Thank you so much for the recommendation 😃🫰❤️🙏
Thank you so very much 😃🫰❤️🙏
For me, Tan Dinh Market is the best market for dried fruit and Bin Thay Market is the best market for snack and the clothes
Really!? Thank you for the tip 😁🫰❤️🙏
Omg YESSSS Tan Dinh is the BEST MARKET!!! 🤍👍
Very nice
We are blessed with the biggest selection of tropical fruits out of all the Asian countries! My favorites are logan, grapefruits, durian, rambutan, etc...
Very nice! Thank you so much for sharing! 😃🫰❤️🙏
Next time we go to Vietnam, we’re definitely going to have to try them out 😁
Do both of you come from the America? You both spoke English so well! ✌🤟👍
Yes! 😁 We’re from the states and thank you so much 😃❤️🫰🙏
tbh I agree with the sentiment that if you're a tourist, don't try to buy stuffs in Ben Thanh market as they're kinda expensive and the quality is really not there. Local usually go their to buy whole-sale or stuffs in large quantity generally. It's indeed a tourist trap, you can look around tho it's cool
Appreciate you being straightforward! Respect! 😎
100% Agree! I would still revisit and highly recommend to at least check it out for sure.
good & useful information! 감사해요^^ (from kor)
Thank you so much 😃❤️🫰🙏
Amazing food 😊 looks delicious 😋 best coffeee Vietnamese coffee ☕🌞
Right!!?? 100% Correct 😁
Quality 10% 50% for the media 40% for goverment 😂😅😊
😃🫰❤️🙏
Agree 100% about the markets!
😁
Wondering, what model of your guys microphone your had?.... looking good & clear voice.. thx
Rode Wireless Pro but it didn’t capture it so it was just GoPro 😅
Thanks.....!!
Np 😁
i love pho it so good just a friendly headup you have to be careful some of these restaurants will put MSG in it i had one back in the state and it gave me headache and numb lip. Anyway travel safe.
I know! It’s amazing 🤤🤤🤤
Wow! Really!? That’s crazy
Thank you for the heads up 😃🫰❤️🙏
Total BS about MSG being unsafe, created by the west known as the "Chinese Restaurant Syndrome" in the 50's. Google it and chk FDA. Glutamate is a natural compound (amino acid) found in cheese, mushrooms, meats, tomatoes, etc... In case u don't know, a bag of Dorritos chips contains lots of MSG, chk the label.
I do love Doritos 😁. Crazy part is they’re flammable. Perfect for a snack and to start a fire 😅
Making bargain at the market is normal. You negotiate from 50% of the given price then up gradually till the vendor agrees:)
Thank you for the correct strategy to negotiate 😁❤️🫰🙏
What name is this market
Thanh Dinh I believe it’s in the description. Check it out!
Best fruit in Vietnam is dragon fruit
Really!!?? Wow! Thank you for letting us know 😃🫰❤️🙏
I thought Malaysia and Thailand had the best Durian 🤔
Durian too!!??
Icic. Thank you for letting us know. It looks like Durians expensive in a lot of countries 😃🫰❤️🙏
HI, Which market is that you bought the mango candy? Thanks,
I believe it’s Tan Dinh Market 😃
@@ChovyTravel thanks
Np! 😉
Pho Hoa Pasteur is also a Michelin selected star restaurant. The plaque is on the wall. Probably in one of your shots.
I've been to every single Michelin recommended pho in HCMC. Some are good, others not really, Pho Hoa is the latter (They used to be decent a long time ago, but it got into their head after Michelin rating, a bit overpriced, and broth is too sweet (typical pho Nam style, I prefer pho Bac style). My top 3 from Michelin are Pho Viet Nam, Pho Chao, and Pho Le; but my fav is actually not on Michelin, a local joint in D4, Pho Mong. BTW, no pho in HCMC is a Michelin-star restaurant; they are either Bib Gourmand or recommended. Currently, there is only 1 Michelin-star restaurant in HCMC, AnAn Saigon.
Really!? They’re both delicious either way 😁
Oh wow! That’s crazy! Thank you so much for sharing your top 3!
Next time we go again, gonna have to check them out 😁🫰❤️🙏
@@benquach3127 Thanks for the recommendations. Gonna try to make it back again next year for the Khmer New Years in Can Tho.
😃🫰❤️🙏
Really!!?? We do want to visit Da Nang in the future too!
Luckily, we didn’t have that issue eating pho 😅
Thank you for the recommendation 😃🫰❤️🙏!
You’re right! Korea still raise and eats dog but not a lot anymore.
Can’t wait to visit Da Nang in the future 😁
Original Pho
Phở mùi thịt chó ?😅 thịt chó ở việt nam mắc lắm đó.😂
So good my friend
Thank you so much 😃🫰❤️🙏
For me, so tired in bargaining there.
I think very excite🤣🤣🤣
It can be but it’s been awhile so it was kind of fun for us 😁
Right!!?? 😁
@@ChovyTravel
I used to work there for many years. Beginning with fun and ending with boring. 😅
😂 Totally understand
You guys only travel for food? No sightseeing?
Pretty much 😅. We will do some more sight seeing in the future once it cools down a bit. Really hard for us dealing with the heat in Bangkok Thailand 🥵
Banh mi in Vietnam is the best ❤
Right!!?? It’s Amazing! We love Banh Mi!
Hi man this is my advice for you If you are real honesty yourself you should do the otyer bussiness
Sorry, I’m not quite understanding 🤔.
Mangosteen is best in Vietnam ❤❤❤
Really!!?? Next time we go, going to have to try it. Thank you so very much for the info! 😃❤️🫰🙏
If not Ben Thanh, where can you buy fake goods?
That’s a very good question 😅 The market we went to in the video besides Ben Thanh might be a good one.
Try Bo la lop and bun Bo hue before leave viet nam
Btw, it's "Bò Lá Lốt"; And yes those two dishes are amazing, way better than Phở. And try "Bun Rieu Oc", "Banh Canh", "Bun Cha Ha Noi", and if u r super adventurous and can handle "mam tom" (Shrimp paste), then try "Bun Mam" and "Bun Dau Mam Tom"
Thank you so much for the recommendation 😃🫰❤️🙏
We left already but we’re gonna go back for sure and try them both 😁
Next time we go, we’re definitely gonna try all of them for sure. Thank you so much for the recommendations 😃🫰❤️🙏. We’re always willing to try anything at least once 😁
Very Delicious 🤤🤤🤤
pls beware vn..recheck the price before ...!!
