The funniest part is the comments, where people seem to think that Maude was a documentary and not a sitcom. I guess people in 2021 are so used to "reality" TV that they can't tell the difference 😂😂
Did age matter then like it seems to now? I was only a child in the 80s so I missed out on Maude and such but was Maude all about age? I don’t even see the Golden Girls as being about age so much as 4 women trying to live their best life regardless of their age. Today age is all anyone ever chats about.
it was never about age . it is only recently that i have noticed it . younger actors , younger musicians , younger youtubers . the moment producers decided they could make money off the young , is when age became an issue . it also keeps generational conflict going so we don't get a chance to focus on the issues that these two shows have talked about .
The interesting part of the scene is Florida pretending in the presence of the officer that she doesn't know Maude to avoid "throwing herself under the bus".
....I ONLY loved this Episode because of the "...you're a Baby!" part (which has been cut off)....She goes on about he's got the cutest 'babyface', and offers him Milk & Cookies, and he's like, "...YEAH!" ..ha-HAA!! (cont.) ...This Ep gives a veiled account of how Maude wants a "fair" trial to claim her innocence, and shows us viewers how 'privileged' People 'do favors' for each other, within the jurisdiction...without even REALIZING they're bucking the system...Maude CLAIMS to be liberal, but, her 'privilege' stretches further than she KNOWS....
Maybe things changed since then but no cop would let himself get pushed around like that today. The proper police protocol for dealing with a refusal to handover a license is to return to their car and notify dispatch of the situation and request backups. He would have told her at the start to stand still. Failing to comply is a class 2 misdemeanor.
A fan of Bea Arthur and Esther Rolle, but clearly you can see white privilege in Maude not taking police seriously compared to how Florida reacted… Although it’s 2021 it seems some things have never changed for many people still.

Leave it to Gen Z/millennials to bring politics into a classic TV show. These comments are borderline satire. Not everything has to be about race, you know. Saying the actress (Bea Arthur) has "white privilege" because she's Jewish and therefore wealthy is racist and irrelevant. Why? _Because she's playing a character on television._ Some of you people are so obsessed with skin color and identity politics. You're chronically online in your political echo-chamber and it's sad. Lighten up and STFU. Not everything is so black and white (pun intended). ❤
Dear precious one, please repeat after me with your whole heart, "Father God, I'm a sinner and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe Jesus Christ is Your Son. I believe in the Good News that Jesus died on the cross for my sins and that You resurrected Him from the dead in order to restore my relationship with You. Through my belief and faith in Jesus death, burial and resurrection, I am saved. I want to trust Jesus as my Savior and follow Him as my Lord from this day forward. Please guide my life and help me do Your will, Your way through the Holy Spirit. This I pray in the powerful, loving and glorious name of Your Son, Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior. Amen!" 🙏 Dear friend, may Father God our Creator, through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior bless you, lead you, guide you and keep you in His abundantly loving care now and for all eternity! I actually got the box set of Maude and it’s the best, no commercials and little clip that get cut out of episodes due to the commercials
Wow!! Florida and Maude act differently around cops. Look how Maude treats cops!! 😱😱😱😱

Maude was 47. She looks like she is 60.
How tho
They made her look older on purpose, like they did with Vivian
Hysterical

That's pretty long hair for a cop. The 70's were wild man.

It also shows that Black people are worried about being arrested even if they’re totally innocent.
That’s the whole point of Maude. It’s a satire of white middle class liberals
