One guitar, One voice, and the crowd in the palm of his hand......masterful, poignant and one reason why he and the band are STILL the greatest live band i have ever seen.... RIP Stuart Adamson
Wow!! Just finding this. I have to share my Stuart Adamson story: I was a lonely 14 year old kid who found a lot of solace and reason to soldier on through BC’s words and music. I was in the front row at the Hollywood Palladium in ‘85 (or ‘84), the shortest and youngest fan up against the barriers trying to avoid the pushing and shoving behind. Stuart gave me a wink and a smile, as if he was letting me know I’d be alright. It was a bright light in my young life at the time. Stay Alive
Legend! Was there this night and on 25 other occasions around U.K. and Europe. Right on boards at the front getting battered. Only disappointment no Mark playing this night. Still a very special evening. Genius at work…..
This is truly one of the saddest and most emotional songs ever written. "As the years hang on me, you will always be young". True poetry and loss. No one writes music like this. Stuart, you will forever be missed and loved.
I will always be here Fading by the day I will wash the bloody hands And cast the bowl away As the years hang on me You will always be young. You will be forever young
"I have your child inside me, but you will never know I never will forget you, while I watch that child grow" What an underrated song writer he is. Amazing lyrics
the one that gives me shivers is "I sat alone in the kitchen, without a fire on the range For I knew this house had lost the cause to ever keep me warm again" also "while tears fell on my cigarette, he handed out cigars"
Come back to me , days are all too long Come back to me, you never should have gone I was so young and full of pride and you were wild and strong. I never knew how weak i was...
This does have to be one of the saddest songs I have ever heard. And I first heard it when I was 17, imagine that. I cried so hard without knowing the hardship of life. I hated Stuart and BC for vanquishing my youth, but I loved them for opening my eyes to the realities of our world and the beauty within it. Thank you Stuart, Tony, Bruce and Mark.
Adamson lived his life on a knife edge: one side euphoric, the other despondent. This tune captures that sublime intensity while also teaching us how fragile each of us is. So, hold onto those you love but don't suffocate them.
This song has so much meaning to myself. I lost my first born son at birth 12yrs past & my mum not so long ago. I know they are in my heart but one day I will meet them where that rose was thrown...RIP Stuart x
It's amazing to see someone so happy and talented and not know the pain Stuart went through. Equally amazing are the number of famous and successful people who suffer the same.
Glen Lucas Not sure if they make that style still , there are plenty on ebay and other sources . Couldn't tell you the model he is playing but , if you go onto facebook and join the Big Country guitar group , Bruce Watson himself maybe able to answer the question for you !! Hope that helps

Big Country were always poetry to music - I know it has been said many times before but they really were under-rated and so good. Still miss Stuart
I will always be here
Fading by the day
I will wash the bloody hands
And cast the bowl away
As the years hang on me
You will always be young.
You will be forever young
Even while smiling and joking around, you can see the sadness in him if you know to look. I wish I could have known you Stuart.
Stuart Adamson. A voice, a guitar and truckloads of talent. Sing it with me.
