Thank you Amelia for beautiful poem! So articulate, honest and inspiring. The confidence building is so timely. I'm riding this weekend after a 2 year hiatus and a couple of unfortunate encounters. Thank so much!
Thank you for your beautiful heartfelt poem and inspiration, Amelia. To my horse I promise to wonder first and use a questioning observational stance when we are having struggles getting something correct together; I promise to give you the benefit of the doubt, and to always remember that tomorrow is another day.
Thank you for for your thoughtful poem. I printed this (with reference to you and your website) and posted in my small dressage barn I own. I'm sure others will find this peaceful and beneficial as do I.
I admire you, Amelia. Your passion for horses, riding and pouring your knowledge and experience into others is impressive and appreciated. And sharing a poem in any setting is brave - you’ve taken this to a new level. Bravo!🥰
That was so beautiful Amelia. You are so right about getting hurt if you have ridden for years. I have been badly hurt-air lifted one and last summer broke all my ribs (my big girl Scarlet spooked swiftly and widely at a trot near a corn field) and I flew in the air and landed hard. I broke all of my ribs and was hospitalized. I couldn’t wait to get out of the hospital and ride again-why is that? Yesterday I had to cross a road twice to get to a trail. Each crossing, just by chance, a huge truck with come by with round bales and another shiny silver car sped past me and my older quiet mare just lost it but even tho I was panicked inside, you have to stay so calm, comforting and reassuring in these moments. But we still get on. We still continue to learn. Ty for sharing ur wealth of knowledge! I so appreciate you!
I am always afraid. I think that is a good thing because it makes me more aware. The fear arises as soon as I get near a horse because I am aware that I can spook him or her. The moment I mount, I get nervous. I am aware that the horse could bolt as I am adjusting my stirrups. I am glad in a way that I am afraid because it makes me cautious and more aware - safer for the horse too, I like to think.
My horse can get pretty hot and anxious. I know that is when she needs me the most. I try to use whatever is in my environment to get to her feet. I want her to be thinking about other things. I keep my legs moving so I don't tighten up on her, and I take slow deep breaths.
Great poem Amellia. I truly appreciate your channel with your instruction, I feel it is mindful, sincere and based on experience. Thank you for the time and energy you spend to help all of us with our riding. If you would send me an address to send you money to help you with it, I would contribute. The last sentence kind of went bad sorry. I would like to contribute to your channel. I really wanted to do the clinic you had but had no way to pay for it.
“Tools in your tool box” - I have used this term for so many years. I love the visual :))
Thank you. The poem made me cry because I’m dealing with a bit of lack of confidence. Need to print it out and hang it in my tack locker!

What techniques do you use to manage your fear?
I breathe deeply
Tell myself this isn’t you other people

Setting up a positive confidence in Mindset and relaxed breathing.
I sing out loud, which keeps me breathing regularly. People around me think I’m nuts of course.
Love it😍🤩🐎
