Listening to the addiction to horses voice instead of the procrastination voice is defo the voice to listen to - we only live once and have to make the most of every opportunity. So fortunate Ash has you Alicia for support and encouragement as fear can be paralysing, so much easier said than done! 🥰🤩
I think we all became invested in Ash's story after your video of her first ride back, post-injury. At the time, I thought "OMG, that's huge!!" & was surprised that she mentioned that fact like it was of incidental importance! And she didn't appear to be tentative or holding back at all. Very brave, I thought!! A great demo of how proactively dealing with rider fear, can really help one, get back in the saddle & move forward again, with confidence! So great idea to reveal the full story, Alicia, especially now, in the lead up to the Rider-fear Masterclass!! Cannot wait for the full story! Good on you Ashie: Fearless Riders United!! And thankyou for sharing, Ashlee, Alicia & The YRS Team! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🐎🐎❤🙏
So, so good to have found this, and grateful to Ash to have shared her story...I broke 4 ribs a year ago, stupid fall in the arena!! Then 8 weeks later…just getting back into it and my horse tripped in canter and I went over his head…and got a crush fracture to my vertebra! Then….bought a really sweet wee horse when I was recovering, who needed lots of time off….now here we are a year on, aaaand….time to get back in the saddle on the new horse…and all the fears are there! I still have the old boy btw, he has arthritis in his hocks which is what caused all the trouble. So I’m doing lots of work on managing anxiety, and fear and working on my fitness and skills!
Thanks for sharing! A huge takeaway for me is to break down the fear with theory and deal with your mind first so that doesn’t interfere when it’s ride time.
I am so glad I am not the only one having these thoughts while riding! I love the sport and spending time with the horses...but that fear is constantly holding me back and weighing heavy. Like ash, I also constantly make excuses as to why I can't ride even though I want to so badly!!
This is by far the most relatable video I have seen on your channel. I'm currently going through this for the second time and this time its a very similar story to Ash. Thank you for doing these videos and showing that we are all in thr same boat! Sitting in tears watching Ash tell us what it felt like trying to get back on. So familiar to me ❤️❤️❤️
Aww you are so good! So encouraging and I wish I had someone like you in my life to help through my problems. Ash is a very fortunate lady to have your support and help. X
Such a big difference in your position and seat afterwards! Thank you for sharing your experience, so we can all learn from it. Congratulations for surpassing your issues and getting back on :-)
I soo love your 80/20 rule! Especially in the canter it’s such an awesome feeling to stand in your stirrups and let the horse canter underneath you. Now I’m starting to get the hang of it in the trot too. Thank you Alicia! And what an awesome job Ash.
I can totally relate!!!! My horse spooked on the way back from a trail ride and I corkscrewed off her back and landed on hard ground, breaking my L4 vertebrae and transverse process. The next 3 months allowed that fear to hook me like a fish.
Oh my God! I had a fracture at my vertebra because of a similar situation. My coach suggested me not to ride again, but my doctor said it was ok to get back on a horse after six months... What about you?
Ash is such an inspiration and I admire the bravery and willingness she shows us every time we see a video with her. I have a misaligned pelvis and still have minor wobbles with my confidence but I am working very hard to try and over come those and my social anxiety issues that crop up sometimes when faced with new people in my weekly group sessions. Like Ash, I do not own my own horse, nor am I able to be horsey as often as I dream to but I am stubborn and refuse to give up on my horsey dream as being around horses, not just riding them, helps my mental health in huge ways, just wish I was closer to London so I could have an Alicia hug too! And ofc to smooch that lovely black Wes nose! Love to you all ❤️❤️❤️
My biggest takeaway was the 80/20 rule and that you shouldn’t sit on the horse , but have control of how much weight you have in your seat verses your legs. Thank you so much for sharing your story, you’ve improved so much! I can’t wait to see more of your progress!!❤️❤️🐴
I have really been focusing on 80/20 and realize now it isn't just to improve my riding but to secure my safety. Seems obvious but this makes me a lot more confident that I won't be in a situation where I'm "sitting" on the horse and thus taken wherever they decide to go if things go sideways. Thanks as always! - Anne
Learning that I have the power myself to get back to the FUN of riding after an accident a few years ago leaving me with a broken leg. Will definitely be doing more research on TSMG and NLP. Thankyou so much for sharing, this resonated with me so much it was like hearing myself speak about how I feel when I think of my riding.
Thank you Ash for being vulnerable and real with the world. You are so brave on and off the horse. You should be so proud of yourself! Looking forward to learning more about fearless riding on Sunday in the masterclass!! Mwah xx
Thanks Alicia. I’ve been slightly nervous to ride my stallion in a few months since he got a bit silly out on hacks and would take off cantering, and my biggest fear is falling off. I’ve moved my horses to a new yard with a round pen! Today I finally got back on and loved it xxx
This is me!!! Little scare when I was riding in the lunging area even, fell of - broke my hip. Took me a lot of time to rebuilding my confidence when I was finally allowed back on my horse (which I bought one week before my fell). it's just recently that I started to feel a bit more confident, but I still avoid some situations. What helped you the most Ashley? Tinkerbell and the pelvis in the middle, what else? I can fully relate to you Ashley. You go girl 💪 💗 See you sunday!!!
Ash you are practically me! I’m currently hitting the bottom of the rut, with the collapsing forward and taking my leg off and leaning on the reins, and it’s awful! I hope I can get to where you are! Worried I might’ve missed this evenings seminar though! Will there be a replay?
Hi Natalie! Thank you so much for tuning in! You can definitely get there!! Could you kindly email us at support@yourridingsuccess.com regarding the replay? x
Best of luck going forward Ash! This helps me so much. With lack of riding and progress in lessons my confidence has nose dived, thank you so much this is helping me a lot!
This is so huge for me to hear right now! I am just getting back into riding with a little cow horse who is quick as heck. I already fell off of her because I was so unbalanced going into right canter that I just slipped off. I was able to get right back on and have been able to do right canter but it is UGLY! I am unbalanced and that causes me to have the fear. I would love to see more of Ashy! She is such a inspiration! and of course you too Alisha! 😉
Thank you so much for sharing your story, Ash!! It’s so awesome to hear that having a plan and relearning your seat is worth the retraining process! Can’t wait for this weekend!
Yayy Ashy!!! Thank you SO much for sharing your experience, and all your lessons with us 💖💖💖 Your story is crazy, and I can't believe we've see every one of your rides since your accident! Like, what?! That's incredible! You look so good up there!! Can't WAIT for the seminar this weekend!
Wauw, what an inspiring story Ash!! Thank you so much for telling it for all of us to learn from it. SO glad to hear that you are back on track with great help from Alicia and that you now have some tools you can use when you feel fear!
thanks so much for this video, i haven't been able to ride my young ottb consistently for a couple months now due to a family member having a medical issue. so am looking forward to this video series!
Thanks for sharing your story Ash. I have felt more stable in the saddle since learning the 80 20 weight distribution from these videos. I'm interested in learning more. I have a fear of the horse tripping and falling since that happened in a lesson a few months ago in canter. I had very bruised ribs, so now I ride in a back protector. Trouble is, the bulk at the front of the back protector made me fall backwards whilst dismounting the big Clydesdale I ride and I hurt my elbow!
Hi! I bought the whole Fearless Mastery program, and it does help, but now I see there is this TSMG aspect that can help even more. Is this included in the program I bought?

Hi Tina! Thanks so much for tuning in!! It is actually TSMG! If you would like some more info you can email us at support@yourridingsuccess.com and we can send you some info xx
I did fall of my old Horse 2 times on a big circle in canter. And in the open spot I just got a bad feeling and the fence comes to fast. The horse did go the wrong way and I hit my back and arms on the fence. So I’m scared to canter in a big circle when the fence/wall comes to fast. I get dizzy every time and cry if the horse go the other way
So sorry to hear about your fall!! We would love to help you work on getting your confidence back! You can reach out to us at support@yourridingsuccess.com if you need help xx
Hey guys i know this is an old video where do i learn the system that was mentioned in this video i had a massive fall from a spook a few weeks ago fell on my head broke my helmet and was barley able to walk for a week same sort of situation i have been on but the whole time i am tense thinking this could happen again because like she said it wasnt at a jump or anything i did not even see what he was so scared of but i feel scared and not sure if im enjoying it anymore and he is a lovley horse but does do a few spooks and even a small one now makes me scared Kind Regards from Australia. Way to go Ashy! Your seat is so much more ‘connected’ to the horses back now (with your new tools). Just beautiful!
