So great to hear someone say that it is okay to get frustrated and angry with the fear and to hear that those feelings actually can be great feelings to get motivated enough to get rid of the fear! Thank you so much for mentioning that. x
My biggest takeaway from this video was learning that waiting for fear to just go away, won’t work. You have to control you fear and work through it. I learnt that fear was the root cause of most of my problems. Thank you so much for making this video and an amazing masterclass, I can’t wait! This came at the perfect time, as I really need the confidence boost right now. Thank you so much and i’m glad to know there is a way to get through this and that other people can relate and have been through my experience. ❤️❤️ 🐴
Can’t wait for this masterclass on Fear. My takeaway from this video is there is an actual method to controlling your fear! Not just letting time pass. I’ve been fortunate to not have a bad accident yet but an accident can happen anytime and I want to be prepared to properly mend (and strengthen!) my broken confidence. -Anne Edit: also I want to gain confidence in the saddle in general. Lack of confidence (“do I know what I’m doing?”) bleeds right into the hairiness of fear/anxiety. It could cause accidents! Or prevent me from saving the situation.
Thank you so so so much for posting this. I've just taken a fall off my horse this weekend and fractured my pelvis. I'm devastated, but this video has given me the hope and confidence to get back on once I recover!
Tash has a great handle on the subject of horse-rider fear; how to decontrsuct it; & how to best address it! I know this, because I too have been dominated by fear & I am the successful graduate of an earlier workshop by Tash on managing rider fear. I then met Alicia on YRS UA-cam & studied her methods on developing a secure & balanced rider seat. Combining the benefits of both together, resulted in me now, being able to happily canter about, & feel secure in the saddle, after avoiding the canter for about 2 years! I was at the mercy of a dominant fear after a silly fall, upon which I broke my wrist. I say silly, because some falls could likely be prevented by applying careful mindfulness & some fundamental riding skills. That is, by developing better situational awareness & the correct riding seat to provide security & balance in the saddle & better ability to move the horse more precisely. These are all the things Tash is referring to here. So, essentially I know the quality will be high! And further developing my understanding about the psychology of fear & riding mindset, & the tools to improve, can only be beneficial! Hence, I'm in - & looking forward to it! Thankyou for the invitation & encouragement! And I encourage you to attend also!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🐴🐎❤🙏
Thank you so much for sharing this with us Benita! Love that you are able to learn so much and can happily canter with the correct rider mindset. Thanks so much again for always being generous about your riding experience and your learnings!
@@YourRidingSuccess That's my absolute pleasure! I've shared the event in as many different areas/groups as I can think of, because I'm such a true believer in everything YRS produce! I love to see how the channel has grown in its professionalism, on a continuous basis! You should all be very proud of the work you produce, & how many people you continue to help! ❤🐎🙏
Finally managed to watch the full video and I have discovered that you guys are mind readers... You nailed to a T what is going on in my head when I am trying to ride at the moment! Can't wait for the masterclass!
Crikey! Timely or what? Tomorrow afternoon my new super-quiet gentle gelding arrives here. He is one of the solutions I chose to buy at the start of this year, to help me with getting on top of my fear after a non-horse related heavy fall that smashed the crap out of my skull, put in an induced coma for a week & ended up with severe brain damage. I can still walk & talk quite well & I still have to clean the poopin stables every day. Damn. That was 4 years ago & I accepted that I'll never be able to ride again. I've already got the starting points in place & plan to take it slowly-slowly.. If it wasn't for having watched yours & Alicia's videos over & over for the past year or so, I wouldn't even have been at this point. YOU did that. You can be sure I'll be joining this series on fovercoming fear. xx Linda.
Tash, you describe exactly how I feel about riding right now. You articulate the feeling exactly, a feeling of crippling fear, yet being desperate to ride inspire of it. I have not been able to make friends, even horsey ones understand. I have been unlucky enough to fracture my spine, not once but twice, in two falls on different horses 13 years apart! I was just getting more confident when I had a fall during a lesson and this has shaken me. I will definitely be signing up for the programme!
This was wonderful- thank you so much for sharing! Much of fear is mental and I have found that if I can overcome the negativity of the self-talk, it really helps me. I have not done a few things with this new horse due to "caution", I'll call it, BUT I have slowly started doing a few of them recently and it has gone well :-) It's OK to go at your own pace when you feel apprehensive. I had one horse for 20 years, so this this a new journey with a new horse and we need to learn to trust each other. Thanks Again!
Wonderful to see Natasha :) ... thank you for putting this together! Fear is also terrible for the horse you are riding...brain to rein... I experienced this today on a new horse I was riding. Once I relaxed he was so much calmer as I guess he could feel 'I got him' and he didn't need to be frightened of the shadows in one corner of the school ... (he has some sight issues).
My takeaway is that I need to look at this program! I already have Fearless Mastery, and it’s transformative. My horse launched me on March 6, and I suffered a burst fracture of L1. Still in a clamshell…. It’s been 14 weeks of waiting for clearance from my surgeon to start physical therapy. My goal is to get strong enough to get on a quiet horse in September - and maybe my rock star next spring (she’s continuing in the meantime with her trainer…. I’m hopeful, not insane! 😁). The new program should be even better, as you say there are riding tools ⚒️ too!
I am a person who's really anxious about everything, I am the definition of "what if". But I started riding horses mainly because of my love for the animal and to make me a more confident person. I fell a lot, and I did a lot of mistakes too, but there is one of them that haunts me every time I ride. I was once doing a gymnastics with a horse (which I don't and can't ride anymore) and everything went ok till the final curve, where I had to turn right, but I missed the cue to the horse and we both got separated, I went right and she went left. That was totally my fault. I didn't get hurt at all, just distended a little bit my neck but nothing really seriosous, I got back on and did it again. But it really marked me. I am afraid of turns, any kind of turns. When I'm practicing dressage, when I'm practicing jumping, it doesn't matter what, once I'm on a horse and have to turn, I panic. In jumping I tend to close those turns so I don't have to stay too much time doing it, in dressage, I forgot about my body consciousness and let the horse drop their shoulders where they want to go. I simply turn my mind off. All of my rides don't go 100% as they should because of it. Because I am afraid to turn. I love to ride, but it became an habit to turn before the right time, to try to run away from the turns. I know it shouldn't be a scary thing to do, but since that fall I couldn't do such things as circles or turns properly, because I am scared that I will miss the aid and the horses is going to go the other side...
Looking forward to this. Having to go right back to basics with my TB at the moment. Even just lunging her right now makes me tremble, let alone getting on. I'm quite happy to get on my other horse which in comparison has dumped me so much. It's not even a fear of falling. It's such a struggle 😪
Hi Tash WOW have heard of NLP but never thought it could help with my riding journey. I’m intrigued. Have had to have several stern talks with myself after a fall, didn’t realise other equestrians felt the same. 🦋
This is such a perfectly timed video asI’m working through some self doubt and the “what if’s” when I actually back my OTTB again after a major injury she sustained. She’s very young, green and has become hotter since being out of work for so long. I would to hear more about what you (Tash) read to help understand the human psyche and what makes us tick!
Fear and anxiety is truly awful, they suck all of the joy out of things and leave you feeling exhausted. I am so often in the habit of trying to do something anyway and putting myself in fearful situations, however, this doesn't allow me to get over it. The biggest fear that stops me from doing things is the thought that something might happen that causes me to lose my horse as she is my absolute world and can't bear the thought of loosing her! This often stops me from going on hacks in case she bolts off into the road, gets hit by a car, scared/bitten by a dog or makes me fall off from seeing bicycles charging past her full speed for example. Thank you for sharing your story with us Tash, it sounds like a confidence shattering and emotional experience! Unfortunately I missed the masterclass, will there be a replay?
