- We cannot wait to share one of the most magical days in Copenhagen with you because it got us so inspired and gave us so many new ideas- totally worth stealing from the Scandinavians!
We’ve recently returned from a trip to Copenhagen, Denmark. We shopped at all of our favorite stores, bought some of our favorite items and explored this city that we love so dearly. We also spent the day at Tivoli Gardens, a cultural icon in the heart of the city. The center of a capital city may not be where one would expect to be inspired to garden, but in this case that’s exactly what happened. Tivoli inspired us to get outside, get our hands dirty, bring warmth and texture into our home and quiet our mind and enjoy the peace of the space around us. So this weekend, let’s do the same in each of our homes.

10000% yes to the more outdoor styling and garden content! I love whenever you showcase that and I feel like inspiration for chic outdoor living areas is harder to find than chic interior spaces
I love the way they put veg and flowers together I never Think of doing something like that this is awesome I love this I can do this on on back patio
Yes, Yes more gardening! Your outside should reflect was inside your home!🤗💕💕💕💕
Thank you Jack and Valentina for sharing such beautiful footage! I feel inspired to keep learning about Scandinavian style. It really speaks to me. I have a small patio, not much space for a lot of greenery and a black thumb but after watching this video really want to plant something.
What an experience! Thank you for sharing, Jack and Valentina. The gardens are truly inspiring. Yes to the outdoor garden videos.
I would love more outdoor garden ideas, no matter the size of the yard area, or patio. 👍
Love this series of videos on Denmark. I went to Tivoli Gardens years ago, and I'm happy to see that it is still as beautiful as ever.
I am starting an apartment garden. I don't have any outdoor space but as food price sky rocket, I am finding it necessary to grow my own food. Also I LOVE gardening. You will fall in love with it, Valentina.
I've never lived in a house with garden, only in apartments. And I never wanted to live in a house until I started to follow House of Valentina :D Since then I'm making plans how I could buy a house with garden and style it so beautifully like Valentina!
To me the outdoors is just as important as inside. Love a cozy happy yard.
I love anything that will beautify my home so yes the gardening ideas will be greatly enjoyed.
As someone growing up in Sweden sometimes I forget our beautiful surroundings.. thank god ive grown older and now try to appreciate the time spent outside with all of our greens
I would love outdoor ideas.
A HUGE yes to Gardens!! The magic you've created in your own garden has made me watch those videos multiple times. This one too is going into favourites!!!!
Garden spaces are integral to my style of entertaining and relaxing. Yes, I'd love to see videos about creating inviting outdoor spaces.
The Tivoli gardens were exquisite! Some of the areas looked liked my Mum's garden, when she was alive she could take a cutting + pop it in her greenhouse & it was a plant next time you looked at it. Mum & Dad grew their own vegetables + would share it amongst the family. I still love the terracotta pots that are aged & sometimes imperfect with multiple plants spilling over. I share your love of a beautiful lived in garden filled with love. With Australias's harsh summers we have to water several times a day + protect with shade sails🌞☀️🌞
That blue green fabric behind you made your eyes look so stunning!!! The gardens are so beautiful! What an experience! PLEASE share more outdoors/garden inspired videos!
Yes to adding more gardening/outdoor design videos!!
I’m Danish and my mom and I visited Tiviioli a few years ago. It was amazing !! My mom’s grandfather built a brick building in another town .....not in Copenhagen. I had the very best steak in Denmark , I think because of their type of beef etc. The taste was very unique.
I love love love these gardens. They are so inspiring!
Using the raised beds/planters to create spaces and mixing herbs, fruits, vegetables with ornamentals just beautiful.
I would love to see how you create your garden.
I absolutely LOVED this! Thanks for taking me along with you!
Looks like you all had a magical experience. The gardens are beautiful. I’m ready to take a trip to Denmark for myself!
My first comment to you two. I so enjoy your videos and am inspired by your style. Today, you made me tear up. I’m 70, and you’re helping me redesign my home. Of course I don’t have to have a “ grandma looking home”! I watch the fun Brit shows too. I also have always believed in using my China daily and always looking my best. Why wait? You’ve brought me such joy for over a year. I love your laugh, and wish I had one. I think Jack’s “ it really is” comment is the sweetest. Bet he doesn’t even know how often he says it. Thank you for sharing your talent.
Yes definitely loved seeing the gardens 🌸🌺
Thank you guys so much for the fun tour! It was so pretty. Also, my mom and I have really enjoyed Rosemary and Thyme!
I really enjoy your channel. I found you couple of days ago. Really attracted to the scandanavian style and that is how I have my place styled. It is really awesome how you have your family involved, especially your husband. I pray many more blessing over your family as well God's protection. 🙏
My mother has chives growing in her garden so I’d recognize those purple flowers anywhere… they make a delicious addition to any salad, plus a pop of unexpected color. Also, love using that plant finder app when we travel! Thanks for another inspiring video.
The type of garden that I love, might be what you actually are drawn to. I call it "Formally informal". By that I mean all the plant beds and pots are laid out in a grid formation - whether that grid be a circle a square or a rectangle. Pots can be exclamation points. The layout is formal in that it is not all over the place, BUT, and it is a BIG BUT, the plants are allowed to spill and flow naturally from their grids, planted in a dense, lush fashion.
In the winter you are more aware of the grid and in the growing season the grid seems to contain the spillage in a loose, casual and restful manner. That is what appears to be happening in the garden you showcased. This is what I have created and everyone - and I mean everyone - that comes into my garden is immediately in awe of the lush but contained spaces. You can visibly see the stress leaving their bodies.
I too, mix flowers with food, for example, now scaping garlic edges one 4x8 bed on the two long sides with two peonies spaced equal distance apart within the bed and currently blooming multi coloured bachelor's buttons create a mesmerizing chaos throughout the remaining space. In another bed I have red and green lettuce at the feet of climbing sweet peas, and so forth.
And yes to showcasing garden design as well. We do live at a time where outdoor living is as important as indoor living. Loved the cart with a live roof covering the aged clay pots.
Thanks for your input /advice🌄🇺🇸
Could you recommend any gardening books that would teach this type of gardening style? I’d love to give this a try! So lovely!
@@bonniesmith6165 Unfortunately not, with the arrival of google, I rely on researching via the internet rather than buying books. I haven't bought a gardening book since the 90s.
The style is quite simple. Use a sheet of graph paper and lay out the geometry of choice for your beds, either raised or not. Once the geometry is known, start working on a planting schedule based on sun, shade (what is there and what will be created by other plants), companion planting, and any other micro climate needs such as too wet, too dry, etc.
While the plants are being decided work on your soil health, all kitchen and garden scraps should get dug into the soil for microbial health. If the soil is healthy, you will not need to feed the plants themselves and this is important as the plants will be planted closer together than normally suggested.
All information is easily available via research on the internet.
Thank you for your reply Evelyn, and your advice! You make it sound so simple! 😊
@@bonniesmith6165 Instead of being overwhelmed by the final outcome, just spend the winter working on your garden's "floorplan" because no design can be successful without a plan. While working on that, start enhancing your soil Every yard and kitchen scrap can get should get dug in into the soil to feed the earth.
Once you have a plan, start creating the beds while leaving wide enough pathways for plants to spill forth into. 42-48" are my favourite widths - like a good hallway design.
Know that any perennials you add will probably be moved a few times before you are satisfied with their final locations. Annuals can be rethought each year.
I don't like raised beds - except for pots - because they are not fluid enough as changes need or want to occur.
From there, experiment, observe, take notes and don't be afraid to fail. That's how you learn
I wanted to have breakfast with you and Jack when I saw the beginning of this video. I love gardens and would love to see videos of what you do in your own backyard especially what you plant that you can use cuttings to decorate indoors with. I have no idea what to look for and I live in Georgia too so maybe I can get some ideas from you to plan out my little backyard:)
Love Tivoli! As a child, teenager and as an young adult I've been there so many times! Had my first honeymoon there 😃
Creativity in our lives adds the spice of life. Enjoying and blasting our five senses is paramount to happy living
How beautiful!!! I love our gardens and now I want to go buy more terracotta pots to fill up and start aging, and switching up my outdoor chairs too. Also…those desserts!! 🤩
All the Scandi content is so dreamy!!! Thank you for bringing us along 😍
The sights are beautiful... especially the gardens.
Never been to Denmark. Now I definitely want to go. Looks so beautiful 😍 🤩
The gardens reminded me of Disneyland, and I love the atmosphere there. I forgot that Tivoli Gardens inspired Uncle Walt, until you reminded me. As I watched, however, I was thinking that the atmosphere there seemed even better than Disneyland!
I love Tivoli, it’s amazing - Even in December 😊
You guys are killing me. Maybe take a trip to your own back yard Botanical Gardens in Atlanta and see how they put things together too. I hope it is close to what I see at Chicago Botanical Gardens which has several garden ideas and types of gardens. Those Scandi gardens are beautiful and what great ideas. Please please please more gardens. You know how I have asked for Scottsdale Farm trips. Yes to more gardening.
Absolutely beautiful and so inspiring to start a garden, and experiment with growing many different plants, flowers, herbs, and more all in the same garden areas! I love also seeing this beautiful part of our world that I have never seen or heard much about, I am so enjoying seeing and learning all you and Jack are sharing! I love that it’s a family trip and your kids are so sweet!
Valentina, you are one of the most talented and hard working person I am having the pleasure to watch through your content. I love Jack working with you and enjoying it and his occasional humor which is so cute!!

Hi V, paused the video to tell you Yes Please for the outdoor patio area and how to design and set it up, we’re in the process of that area in the coming weeks, I have all the furniture just wanting to know how to bring the inside to outside and make it look Spectacular. Now back to the video. ❤️❤️🇦🇺
The garden presents such an opportunity to create a unique and beautiful extension of the home. I am obsessed with my garden and there is so much you can do regardless of your space or money. You can go crazy with creativity using old pots, cuttings, outdoor sculpture from salvaged items, I could go on and on. So yes, please give us garden videos.
Gardening is so therapeutic. I'm on the cusp of transforming our outdoor space...I have officially reached middle age, working outside a little each day is a highlight.
So funny scanning rhubarb, apple tree and currant bush when there is fruit on there 🤣 'what is this......they're chives'... I'm dying 🤣 🤣🤣
Yes yes yes garden everything please share
Gorgeous, thanks for taking us along!! I really think you guys would enjoy Prague so much. Imagine that beautiful eclectic mix you love so much about modern and Scandi, but with Art Nouveau. Thanks for sharing, hugs from Prague 🥰🖤

Yes outdoor space content would be wonderful.
We live in Tucson, in the Sonoran desert. We love it here but do miss the amazing gardens we had on Bainbridge Island in Washington. I’m learning what and how to plant here. It’s fun but also a challenge.🌵☀️🌵🌠☀️It’s worth it, living in the sunshine.🍊🍋🌻🥑🌶
Yes! Landscape, gardening and outdoor living areas really add yo livablility. Even if it's just a patio or deck.

Literally sitting here yelling out the answers to your plant finder questions 😂 current, sage, rhubarb, chives! Lovely video! I have always opted out of going into Tivoli because I don’t like going on the rides. I have never heard about the gardens before 😮
Oh my gosh, we love to travel just like you! Breakfast with the most amazing coffees, fruit and pastry and scones! And bringing home the most beautiful smells, candles, pottery, fabrics. Thankyou for your inspiration!
We love Tivoli Gardens!! when we traveled there, our hotel was right down the road!!
Absolutely loved this video. I am an amateur gardener just starting. I would love to see more videos like this. Love following Your travels as well.
Stunning video. Loved it!! Love gardening and would love to see more!! Thanks so much for sharing Denmark with us ❤️
Thanks for sharing the tivoli gardens. Gorgeous! i have been gardening for 30 years and I encourage you to get inspiration from a variety of gardens and then make your garden your own. You can combine formal elements with a more loose planting. It makes it so much more interesting. Have fun with it!!!! Again thanks for the garden tour.
Omygosh. Love this gardening content. Thank you
Adored the content!! Monte Don for the win, could watch on repeat.
You can not go wrong if you always follow the rule: right plant in the right place. We can not always have what we want if we are not in the correct gardening zone. Herbs do so well in pots. I always do a few tomato plants in pots on the deck away from the deer. Love allium in the garden. Your roses are gorgeous around your fountain. Do not change that part. The identify plant APP is wonderful. Start small with veggies and continue on as you succeed. My chives do so well in pots and come back so well. You can eat those purple blooms. This will be your new hobby and your Landon will love helping you both. Good luck.
Thank You V and Jack for sharing your vacation to Scandinavia with us, what more can I say, it’s absolutely Amazing and makes me want to visit there one day. 🥰🥰

Those desserts and gardens, yum!
The last time I was on this channel you were at 250,000 wow...and that was not that long ago. Congratulations!
I love this armchair travelling!!! Thanks so much for sharing!!! You and Jack all around are so great together. It's a pleasure to see a couple like you two, your kids, and this includes "Louis" - 🐕as well. And gardens are of the earth, of nature, and very healing to be surrounded by. I can't wait to see what you do with yours!!! And heh, maybe you might end up catching a glimpse of some "garden fairies" too.😉
I see you ultra excited and I feel like going back to Copenhagen … understand you excitement 100%
Tivoli is such a great place. Great place to spend the day

Thank you for sharing. We returned from a vacation in Kentucky. Lush, dense foliage and everything was green. Beautiful! Colorado has pines of all kinds and Aspen, we are a drier state. It was interesting to experience high humidity too.
Oh my thanks for sharing. I just loved the gardens. I will be pulling many ideas from those beautiful gardens. And yes I follow Monty Don he's great.
You should go back when it's around Halloween! I got to go around that time a few years ago and it was so much fun. Ahh, I want to go back~
