Nice too see her. She was and still is a pretty lady.
Have you notice how these older actors seem to have a great memory?
I loved this woman all her life. What a class human being that gave so much beauty to the world. May she be blessed always. Father Knows Best was one of the best shows ever on television and she was a main character of it.
I'm surprised by so many negative comments about her having aged because I think she looks really GREAT, actually!!! Everyone has to age, for crying out loud! And she has managed to still look great and maintain that oh-so-pretty smile! What's up with the lesbian comments? Just bc her hair is short doesn't make her look butchy AT ALL.
well , the alternative to aging aint too great, and she does look great!
B Silver , she looks terrific. My mom would have been her age. Great interview and a very lovely lady.
B Silver Her voice hasn’t aged. I liked her in Father Knows Best and The Andy Griffin Show.
@B Silver unfortunately jackasses seem to make the world go round with their complete lack of intelligence.
People get old, and aging is a natural process. I am 64, and am happy where I am. I would not want to "do it over" I am sure Elinor Donahue must feel similar.
Eleanor was and is one of the best actresses I've seen. So quick on her lines and facial and body expressions. Not everyone can beat her. Always played nice parts. Old women rule. Love you Ellie.
Country music George Strait play
What a Sweetheart !! SO much more down to earth than today's affected stick-figure actresses.
"Father Knows Best" was definitely in my top 5 favorite tv shows of all time. Just watched the marathon the other day. :-)
Miss Ellie i was in love with you when growing up in the 50's and 60's. You were so beautiful.
Love Elinor. So natural. Beautiful talented down to earth woman. Great personality and sense of humor.
I justt love her. she has always happy no matter what she does
I just love Elinor Donahue.. She was always so beautiful and still is. Love her beautiful smile. Her smile is what I always remember while watching 'Father Knows Best'. I watch the show everyday.
Still beautiful! I've seen her on so many shows over the years and always enjoyed her. She left Andy Griffith show on her own. She didn't feel She was a good fit for the part she said.
Just recently started watching Father Knows Best on Antenna TV, she was so good on that shoiw. Loved her on Andy Griffith too! Love this interview, she is a classy lady!
I love The Andy Griffith show .. I watch it every day 😁
Always loved her ... I grew up with "Father Knows Best" and she was a huge part of it.
Wonderful Elinor! Thank you very much for everything you've done. You are timeless.
She was beautiful as a actress on Father Knows Best. Partly because a girls dress style back then help accentuate thier physical beauty. She was the type of girl that every small town had some of. Her personality was projected by her role as a very nice person who enjoyed people and she still does.
I loved her in father knows best and Andy Griffith. One of the Prettiest women in that time era. Still Beautiful today. Great personality to💜💚
She is beautiful!!!
Elinor, you still give people a hug, with your voice!
Thanks for posting this. Very interesting, and nice to see Elinor again.
I'm glad SOMEBODY else remembers this show! I laughed at that show as much as any show I ever saw on TV! One thing that may not have helped "Please Stand By" out was that "WKRP" was also running strong at the time. My favorite scene in "Please Stand By" was when they were doing an airline commercial, and the model plane bumped the drum where the "clouds" were the plane!
PLEASE RELEASE "Please Stand By" TO VIDEO!
No doubt about it, I would love to meet Elinor Donahue in my lifetime!
I had a huge crush on her as a young boy in the 1950's when she played "Betty" the eldest daughter- so pretty!
I always remember Elinor Donahue!
For being on a tv show only one season, people still love her for that. TAGS fans are loyal.
Eleanor was one of the most beautiful woman of her time. No doubt about it. Watch" Star Trek/ Metamorphysis". I fell so in love with her.
That's a great episode.
I fell in love with Comissioner Nancy Hedford too! It's funny how men, who don't know each other have similar common experiences to stimuli from their youth! I guess the idea of "generations"( "generation x,", "Generation Y", "the baby boomers", "the Greatest Generation") are more than just convenient social constructs. People born in certain times do share a common vernacular .
mrScififan2 Indeed! I had such a crush on her. And Susan Dey in The Partridge Family.
pegbars How strange that you mentioned Susan Dey. I remember "The Patridge Family" and that was the face that captivated me.
Tony63909 shes was cute, thats all
Elinor...you were always so sweet and bring so many precious memories to the fore front. God Bless you and we do Love you ! Dana
She is beautiful, I loved the close ups of her, all her expressions were fun.
I love her!
Still a very beautiful lady! That smile, 😍!
What a sweetheart
It's a shame people go out of their way to speak ill of someone.
They need to look in the mirror and see themselves first before they speak negatively about someone else.
She's been a Star all her life . And deserves a round of applause.
There's one thing about trashing someone...and reflecting.
Elinor donahue she was a very gifted actress ,very beautiful.I didnt see or hear much of her after andy griffith, but im sure she's had an amazing career:)
Wow this is awesome. I like everything about it. Thank you!
What a classy beautiful lady.
She was an still is Fantastic actress
Loved her in "Father Know Best," and though she had a brief role, she was amazing in "Pretty Woman!" Thanks so much for posting!
Love this women !
Eleanor looks GREAT!
Lovely video clip !
She aged so good. I just turned 40 and I hope I age as good as she does.
Love you then and know, you were great in father knows best and the Andy Griffith shows.I sure miss you when you left.✌🏻️🇺🇸
she's precious and gorgeous! Lover her.
My Mother sang on the radio, too, as a child. I guess that was a popular thing in the 30s and 40s.
She was the prettiest woman who was on the Andy Griffith show.
I remember once my son and I were watching the episode where Peggy and Andy are singing Down in the Valley.
I told my boy, concerning the part where she sings "Angels in heaven know I love you", and she looks up at Andy with those beautiful eyes for the "know I love you part"-I told my boy, "That's where I'd have messed up big time on my geetar playin'!!". Sour note city! 8-)
Great actress.
Beautiful
YOU WERE GREAT ELINOR
Love her!
Your right! As I aged I realized how attractive the T.V. moms were during this era.
Love her 💕
"Even when Peggy got mad at Andy It was cute, When Helen got mad it was hateful."
Interesting to find this comment. You are so right. Just the other day I said the same thing to my son as we were watching the scene where Andy shows up at the duck pond and finds Peggy and she scolds him. If only they'd picked ANY of the girls Andy dated but Helen to be his girl! But I still liked Peggy the best.
Very nice
Other than her politics, she's a wonderful lady. I have to admit to being smitten by her beauty years ago. Beautiful smile and captivating eyes, she was too good for Andy.
I liked Elinore Alot. I never knew she was in dancing at 4.5
The person interviewing Elinor was "steering" her with preconceived answers in mind rather than letting her say what she thought.
So Beautiful & "So Toothy " .
That's her now?!
Wow, I have to say, yes, she's older now, but she still looks terrific, especially for a woman into her seventies.
What a dish, and she remains one to this day.
I always wondered why she left the andy griffith show or moved on, i liked her better than Helen the second one.
...one of the most beautiful women on the planet back in the day...
👌
Nice interview Elinor did. Of course, she was asked about her Andy Griffith Show experience. I wonder how she got along with Robert Young, Jane Wyatt, and the cast of Father Knows Best? Hopefully, okay. So beautiful when in her prime. However, time marches on for everyone, even Betty/Ellie.
I'm only 32 but I had a crush on Jane Wyatt, She was/and so beautiful. My mum pokes fun of me for lovin' older women, lol.
Happy Birthday miss walker.
good questions
Elinor Donahue--hottest thing on 1960s TV.
She's still not bad at 77 either.
My one and only love back in the 50's. .was in love with Betty. ..after school. .to the house to see father knows best...still love my Betty
Thankfully she is still an amazing woman. She was most gracious to do this interview for me. You may also enjoy my interviews with Pat Carroll and Jackie Joseph. Dave Welsh
she did a funny sitcom in 1978 called please stand by. wish i could find the show on youtube. it was about a family that ran a local tv station out of thier garage.
I remember watching her as a young boy on the reruns and for one of the first times I noticed there was something about her that I liked...and the rest was history...been a skirt chaser ever since.
my name is donald knight and i was crazy in love with her in andy griffith show. i am 69 now and i still think she is beautiful today.
I'll try it again. In case nobody mentioned it Elinor Donahue also played Miriam Welby on The Odd Couple back in the 70's. She was Felix Ungar's girlfriend, played by Tony Randall. I didn't read all of the comments so I'm not sure someone didn't mention it. I liked her in all three of the shows.
***** To answer your question, the episode in which sheriff "Andy Taylor" and schoolteacher "Helen Crump" are married is the very first episode (titled "Andy & Helen Get Married") of the TV series "Mayberry R.F.D." And Don Knotts as "Barney Fife" is most definitely in that episode, with a very memorable part in the episode, in fact.
You may watch the episode at the following URL--

Had a Crush on Eleanor in the 1960
The best thing he ever did was a movie called "No Time for Sergeants". It was the basis for the Andy Griffith show. Don Knotts played a psych tech in the movie who is testing Andy's mental acuity. One of the best scenes ever put on screen.
I was wanting to know if anyone out there kept a tape of the Andy Grifith reunion show shown on the Merv Grifith show?
It has been 50 years.
RIP Andy He really laid on the cornpone accent on in the first year or two of the show
She is still so beautiful. She looks the sharpest, healthiest, classiest of any child star I can think of. (Except Ron Howard - he has made baldness a style.)
All you people being disrespectful to her and her aging should just look in the mirror. You all ain't so great and this woman is beautiful inside and out!!
Sweet lady
The voice hasn't changed at all.
What's with the old lady comments? I'm thinking, wow she still looks wonderful!
She also was Chris Elliot's mom on Get A Life.
According to one site I read, Elinor Donahue asked to be released from her contract.
For me, in the TV series, The Odd Couple, of all the women--ex-wives, girlfriends etc--I always thought Miriam Welby (Elinor Donahue) was the sweetest. Hope you see this one day :-)
I just want to make mention of something. It's widely belived that the loss of Barney was all the difference in the "good" Andys and the "lousy" ones. While the departure of Don certainly was a big part of it, I think that the "sophistication" of Andy was a HUGE
cool
Music was almost too loud to hear the dialogue. EDIT, EDIT EDIT
Why is there SO much noise in the background? It sounds like this was done in a high school cafeteria.
+Rafael Storm : This interview was dome in a large room where many other interviews were going on. I had to fight with the bitchy lady in charge just to get permission to set up my camera. When you're working in the field, you just have to make do sometimes. Dave -Pixie Video Productions
Still hearing Ellie Waler in her voice.....not so much Chris Peterson's mom. She had an amazing smile. I can't recall now how they wrote her off the show. She seemed to just disappear from the Andy Griffith Show. I wonder why. She was such a good character....sweet and tough at the same time. She was hysterical on Get A Life--a show I'd put on my list of all-time favorites.
she wanted off the show and out of her contract.
She was good character....but I noticed all these these single women in town owned these huge houses. Either it was town of merry widows or the pay wages were stunningly high. Even Barney had to live in a boardinghouse. She was very funny on Get A Life. I don't think it was explained where her character went on the Andy Griffith Show. She just seemed to disappear. It's still a timeless show that is still funny and timeless and not at all dated. I wouldn't want to live there though. I
Get a Life was the best!
still good actress
I'll bet she's a really great lady. :)
Seconded on the attraction to Elinor, a TOTAL babe.
I was disappointed when she was more or less replaced by the character Helen Crump.
Water Melon I read that she wanted out because she felt Andy couldn't show affection and it looked fake. Her choice. Andy agreed it was his fault.
@@paulmeinart2851 Andy was tapping Krump off screen.
It was spelled 'Aunt Bee' on the show.
@frontierdriver Me too why did she leave the show?
was this filmed in mt airy
they didnt get married on the Andy Griffith Show. They got married on the first episode of Mayberry R.F.D. If you can find that episode, you can see the wedding... :-)
@laplandnorth Didn't Ackerman have something to do with BEWITCHED??
It cracks me up when actors saying they didn't pursue acting, acting just happened to them. She said she was two and was discovered, where, in her play pen? LOL! I' m sure her parents pursued it for her.
