I'm more impressed that a game that released in 2001 even has idle animations, and decent ones at that
Half-Life had idle animations in 1998 (1997 if you count its earlier version), and I believe Quake 2 also had them. I'm sure there's quite a few others I'm missing; really neat how much attention to detail was put into all these classic games despite the limitations!

Actually I kinda like a few of the CE animations, like on the magnum he makes sure the slide is secure and on the sniper rifle he makes sure the scope is set in properly. He also dusts of the needler and I'm assuming he's making sure there's no grime in the plasma pistol's battery (that's what I always assumed at least).
In infinite it seems like he's checking if the weapons are clean.
@@7kingly241 well he is using older Wep models, can't trust older ones that have been in storage or in god knows where it has been.. They are in like their last stand, any moment the gun fails is a death sentence
At least in CE, they are outfitted specially for PoA, so you can trust them to be reliable

Something about the ce models and sounds makes it feel raggedy and makeshift. Like the guns are literally things chief picked off the ground. Such a timeless game.
Because we litterally do just pick the guns up off the ground.

Even now halo ce on mcc with original graphics is playable the combat doesn't seem to age.

I want the halo CE shotgun in halo infinite /: glad that we have a new type of shotgun but I wish they would have had both. The bulldog being a low damage fast firing, and the regular shotgun as a high damage slow firing.
Well from a balancing perspective it wouldn't make too much sense.
On one hand you got a shotgun that can't one shot and has a similar defense role (seemingly).
While on the other, you have a shotgun that has the same role, but can 1 hit and counter the melee weapons.
In close quarters, the shotgun that dishes out more damage would win and save your life more often.
As LNG put it, "The problem with 343 is that they have abunch of cool stuff, but it comes at the expense of other things" (or somethin like that)
You get this cool new shotgun and pistol... BUT, weapons that have been in EVERY installment sense 2001 are no longer here
@@mason2170 Doesn't matter, halo isn't like cod, you can have different shotgun variants for different maps, they don't have to compete with one another. The different weapon spawns is one of the key elements of making halos maps feel unuiqe
@@mason2170 Can't they just have them be special variants scattered around in special areas of the Campaign, and have them be special variants you can personally get if you grab the default from it's spawn but it switches to the special variant if you completed a certain challenge and or get a certain number of kills with the default version the last time you used it?
It’s coming. A leaked weapon list for infinite refers to a combat shotgun and a “double barrel shotgun”, betting the combat shotgun will be the classic shotgun, with the double barrel being some sort of banished weapon.
in my 20 years of playing Halo CE, I've NEVER Seen the Needler's Idle animation.

I guess we were all focused on killing something with the Needler instead because of how fun it was😂😂

I love the bots just being ignored awkwardly.
I like Combat Evolved's idle animations, they're more subtle where as Infinite's seem more about showing off the artwork of the weapon

The Type-54 (post halo 4) plasma pistol looks grotesque. Shame they kept it in for Infinite.

I like the CE animations more because you can see Chief interacting with the guns using his hands a lot more. For example with the SPNKR in Infinite the barrels just start turning, but in CE you see Chief manually do it, and in CE it seems like he's exploring the covenant weapons, like he's trying to figure out how they work and what they do
I agree with all of that but the thing I think makes them even better than the infinite ones just watching it it feels like Halo CE has more weight to the guns. if you look at for example the difference between the assault rifle one in infinite and in CE infinite just has it flick from side to side and in CE the animations are longer they take a while to happen which gives a feeling of weight makes it seem like they just going to actually stop and care for the weapons infinite it just looks like he's carrying a piece of plastic and wants to make sure it's not scratched
Halo 5 idle animations were beautiful, sad to see they're gone
I really enjoy that they made sure to freshen up the animations, but keep the original movements in there

surprised how many people didnt know the CE idle animations even existed. i remember when i played as a kid i systematically idled with every weapon i could find just to see what the animation was for each one. tbf tho, maybe i found my first one by chance and other people just didnt. the animations amazed my little mind. i also remember looking directly down and being amazed that i could see the blades of grass. the details in that game were unlike anything i'd seen before
I like how the ce ones are more varied compared to a lot of infinites just showing one side flip to the other, very clean very nice animations, but basic
One is more for the weight and feel of the gun
One is more for checking which is reasonable since they are on their last stand, esp in chief position, a gun failing at any point is death sentence for him
Infinite's animations are good but are really just flipping the gun twice
CE's had more personality. Like how many hero’s pet their sniper rifle and adjust bolts on the weapon
Infinite animations emphasize focusing on what skins you'll have. CE shows chief checking his guns or lightly playing with as if he is bored.
When the spartan gives the CE sniper rifle a little pat, it's so cute. 😁

343 said before the game was delayed that they would be coming after launch. I wouldn’t be surprised to see it there at launch with the extra year. It would be smart. They are playing hard for nostalgia with Infinite. Not to mention it’s place in the sandbox is still open. The Bulldog is not the same.
It’s the little things like these in video games that warm my heart for some reason
I'll never understand the need to make the AR a smaller weapon since Halo Reach. They were hefty guns.
The ones in 4 and 5 are about the same size of the 3 versions (I think a little bigger even)
Only the Reach and Infinite version is small/skinny
I'm so used to Halo 1's chunky AR, it always looks odd to me in games after Halo 3.
I loved ce's ar, felt like a fucking lmg with those sound effects. Reach/infinite design is decent but Its way different, and I just prefer the other
@@MerryBlind I replayed a bit of Halo CE then watched infinite gameplay and it just doesn’t feel right.
it's a visual cue to show new players where the weapon lies in the sandbox, skinny small and weak sounding to show you its not a super powered weapon...I still prefer halo 1's AR though

The animation for the magnum is another favorite of mine! Love that one! Classic! I like the new inspect animation style where you can see the whole gun, it's smooth and fluid. But man, CE's animations are so fun and charming. 👍🏻

How so? Most of the infinite ones aren't really like the CE ones and every Halo had Idle animations.
These aren't inspired by CE, they're expected parts of any Halo game.

The only one I see any resemblance to see in is assault rifle because they do move inside to side the same it's just infinite it's like he's flicking the gun upside down each time Halo CE it's actually it looks like the guns heavy honestly I think the CE ones were better

Would be nice if they release the classic Assault rifle, the Magnum, the Plasma pistol, and the Shotgun in Infinite, some OG players are familiar to the old designs of CE and would be much appreciated if they do.

Actually, it's the "need to change" that is the problem here. First you would want to change weapon designs, then the enemies, then the world to match classic halos. It only stops when you realize, that the game you want them to make is literally halo ce. But you already have that game, and it's better (either objectively better, or just better in your mind). So what even was the point?

I’ve been playing Halo since I was basically a toddler on Halo 2 and this game is the perfect middle ground. I played the tech preview, it feels great and fluid. Even though I like 4 and 5, Infinite so far feels like a more natural evolution of Halo 3, while perfecting the mechanics introduced from Halo Reach onwards. It sounds to me you’re just parroting the same “343 bad” non-arguments that all these rose-tinted glasses wearing Halo UA-camrs make.

If you listen closely, that plastic like armour sound is still present when the gun comes to a rest. It makes the armour sound flimsy.

In CE, Chief knows how the human weapon work off by heart and he's messing with them while he's bored. The covenant weapons are what confuses him and he looks puzzled by them. Seems like every Infinite human weapons lean into that covenant style of idle animation.

Halo 3 still looks good so does the rest of the games in it's og graphics, but i guess old CE remastered and halo 3 could use updates and revamps, examples of that is the blood in the swamp level and well... halo 3 don't need any updates graphically we just raise the render distance for details on objects so they render in the same detail as when you zoom in on em but from further away, also make the bumpmap details. Now when we have 4k resolutions little details like that makes a big difference as we now can see all of them, while it made no difference on 720p Xbox 360

It's important to note that while Halo: CE only had 1 idle animation per weapon, Halo Infinite had 2.

The AR and SPNKR are kinda inspired by CE but it seems that’s it as far as idle animations go
They need to bring back the sniper petting animation

Having beat CE solo on legendary to get all achievements once for 360 and again for mcc. I don’t ever want to touch that game raging controller breaking game again…one of the hardest shooters made. This still cool though.
