Thank you to all my Patrons! - Розваги
Absolutely underrated band in the metal scene
One's songs of trilogy about the II WW. This is about the Kamikaze, the others two, about the Nuclear bombs: "Under the red sky" and "Apocalypse". For the last one there is a beautiful version in Tokio 2021 with Asami's intro a capella! About Rachmaninov, there is also a song live "Final collision" with Rachmaninov intro concert for piano n.2. Thanks!
Still my favorite Lovebites song. Everything following Miyakos classical intro feels so pure bombastic and epic. Such power, such a wall of sound.
And a chorus to ride into battle to 🤘🏻🙂
Amazing 🐺 A favourite of mine...Miyako headbanging at the end is such a thing of beauty.
This is one of my many favorite songs.. it's got various tempo and melody. Such heavy pumping to my heart. Brilliantly composed. Thanks friend for bringing this out. 👍👍
Welcome back and thank you for doing this reaction to lovebites again, LOVEBITES ROCK
Miyako's love letter to Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff, her favorite composer.
I see Rachmaninoff came up in the live stream. I see that it was corrected to Piano Concerto number 2 before the stream ended. It's the theme from the first movement thereof.
That complete change with the Midori solo is the kamikazi now taking his plunge after climbing throughout the preceding part of the song. The lyrics, and that solo get me everytime.😢
This track is from the absolutely fantastic EP "Battle Against Damnation". "Above the Black Sea" is one of the few songs I actually prefer the EP version vis-a-vis LIVE. I really like the clear, dramatic Choral verses and Asami's vocals mixed on the EP. One of my favorite Lovebites songs.
EDIT : Come to think of it, I like the LIVE version at Wacken Open Air 2018 just as much as the EP
It's a great pity that in the studio version of the song, Miyako's line during the chorus is lost in the mix. I hoped they would include the song in the "best of" album with the remastered versions (and fix it), but sadly it didn't make the cut. Still hoping for a remastered version in the future.
It's mournful because it's a tragic song, about a Kamikaze pilot caught between duty and wanting to have a better legacy.
2019 was the last year that you really hear M&M make mistakes.
I think there were a few in Heavy Metal Never Dies from Miyako (I could be wrong, but it sounded like it to me). I just put it down to the awkwardness of playing guitar while pregnant, but I do think Five of a Kind was practically flawless!
LOVEBITES - Above the Black Sea lyrics:
SOLO: miyako
Age of oddities, suffocating with all of these strings pulling me
Fit into the mold of this twisted world
This is how it's ought to be
SOLO: midori
Worshipped death and flight, sin to live the night
Who are you supposed to be
Higher and higher, higher than the Heavens
Now's the time to pour your blood and heart into the sky
Higher and higher, far above the Heavens
Go beyond the silent clouds that promise nothing but the end
SOLO: miyako
Time to put an end to this nightmare
Cause you have no choice in your hands
Higher and higher, higher than the Heavens
Now's the time to pour your blood and heart into the sky
Higher and higher, far above the Heavens
Go beyond the silent clouds that promise nothing but the end
SOLO: midori
In a moment I'll fade away
As long as he will bring us a new day
I will take this in as my fate
Just let me leave something proving my life
In a moment I'll fade away
As long as he will bring you a new day
I am thankful this was my fate
Just let me leave reason to my life

Love it!
Miyako's guitar intro has Gary Moore written all over it.
Great to see this one getting some love.
🤘🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺🤘
love the DOTD performance. thanks for this reaction, wave.
I completely agree with you about the depth of classical music as an influence. Many of the greatest innovators in rock and metal were classically trained.
It's true, in particular with this Concert n.2, famous is "All by my self" from Eric Carmen (R.I.P).
It miss at least a zero in their follower YT channel amount 🐺🤘🏻
So since you have done Above the Black Sea you now need to do "Under the Red Sky". The one which is live at Akasaka is the best version by far plus it has a great ending where the members take a bow and react with the crowd. Check it out. It's in Akasaka.
He's done the Heavy Metal Never Dies version, it's on patreon :)
@@meteorrunner Okay, Thanks.
Ty for another great reaction to these amazing musicians, please keep up your deep dive into lovebites, they are so good, I look forward to your reactions as your musical knowledge shines through, this is one of their songs that has such a deep meaning, the more knowledgeable people of the lovebites lore than I will or already have explained the meaning to this piece of music, all I can say is that it is another great composition, keep up the great channel love from NZ
"Above the Black Sea" and "Under the Red Sky" were Miyako and Mao's challenges to each other to create a song inspired by Rachmaninoff.
In a class of it's own!!
A lot of fans call this part of a trilogy along with "The Apocalypse" and "Under the Red Sky," but "trilogy" is the wrong word. No one in the band has ever called them a trilogy, and Asami specifically said "Under the Red Sky" is a sequel to "The Apocalypse" with no mention of this song. It's just that this song is about the various Japanese suicide units of World War II while those two songs are about the atomic bombing of Hiroshima (sorry Nagasaki!). At best this song is a _gaiden_ or side story to those songs. It's still a great song, but it's only marginally related to the other two.
ha ha - as usual. They cannot keep it slow :)
It starts as a nice slow epic thing on guitar.
And then it breaks lose.
Ordinary I love it - but here it felt so wrong.
OK - nothing wrong with the slow intro.
Nothing wrong with the song.
But, I do not think the combo worked.
