Asalamu Alaykum nice reminder brother omar however I disagree if we think committing Zina only affects the self .If we commit adultery or fornication there are other humans involved that have feelings .If the women gets pregnant the child will be affected as well .Because we are taught to cover this crime the person may go as far as to deny the child . I have heard many stories where men are hiding their children from their wives so that they don't find out which leads to other issues as well .I can write a book on this topic however just wanted to leave a comment With that being said there are people taking advantage of stories like this thinking they will he forgiven however I say Allah knows best. Of course we should not despair however we should not take this story as a green light either being deluded to think because the monk was forgiven i will be too ,t may just be the human u hurt may not want to forgive u for takung advantage of them because u couldnt control yourself .Zina doesn't only affect the self unless u have matustturbation issues .May Allah guide us to see clear and distinguish between truth and falsehood .May Allah forgive those that are worthy and may he give justice when necessary .

I agree with you and understand your point but what I want to emphasize here is that when the narrator saidit only affected him” he spoke in terms of sin. The lady with whom he committed the sin is responsible for her own sin as much as he is for his own. There was no child involved so I don’t know why he shouldn’t mentioned what he said. And don’t you think Allah knows us more than we do? Don’t you think that if someone truly repent or is faking it, he won’t know? I think you completely misunderstood the imam. The real lessons he was conveying here is that: zina is a major sin that can eliminate 60 years of worship so people should stay away from m. In fact zina is one of the major sins in Islam. However, through repentance will make Allah forgive you. Another lesson we can get away from this story is that zakat or sadaqat is good. It will help us in the judgment day. there is a verse in the quran that says “never despair of the mercy of Allah” he is Gafur rahim. That’s is another lesson we can get from this wonderful story.

Self-control is a virtue. You can be married and still cheat on your spouse.
Marriage is the creation of a bond that simply doesn't mean that you are gonna live with your loved one who has the body that attracts you or satisfies you sexual intimacy. It is more like strong contract, where you include God's permission to love and to be loved from one of his created human being, because eventually each and every human belongs to God. The pious contract involves spiritual power guiding and watching over them and also when we publicly take someones with this pious contract, we embrace our spouse proudly and with humility at the same time. Proudly, because God blessed us with marriage and also with humility because they have certain rights which demand to be fulfilled rightly. Thus, a persons sincerity towards God's contract directly influences their sincerity to the relationship both play their role here. While, taking someone without marriage has no regulation watching over them, you might love a body for a while and might hate it after some time as it loses its charm and you are free to change your relationship status perhaps multiple times in a day. While there is the freedom of divorce in marriage as well but that is quite hateful thing but legal to do at the same time. Hope, you understand the good from this text.
