I can't tell you how much I needed this tonight. In an ugly, frustrating world I'm able to settle into bed and be pampered with spellbinding beauty. Thank you 💜 C'est Magnifique
Yes. The building of Versailles put France into debt from which it never recovered. And the silliness of the culture of hierarchy and manners is something we still laugh about.
Im so fortunate to have a Louis the XV boudoir. It is a luxury but it has brought besuty and peace to me. My refuge from the disposable generation and culture as of now. Ty for sharing and its beauty. 🙏
I’m not someone who is typically taken with fabrics from that age due to the extravagance just is a bit much for me but that was absolutely beautiful, all the fabrics and the furniture was beyond incredible. What a lovely and spellbinding and made . Super ch elegance and timeless beauty . I can’t even imagine the amount of money back then this cost , must have been staggering
Congratulations for this well-researched, thorough presentation, on a tricky topic, which I must say is quite rare among English-language social media reports on Versailles!
I was just a Versailles a couple of weeks ago. They're really sprucing it (and all of Paris) up for the Olympics. I had been there once before, so this time I went out to the Petit Trianon.
Wow, what a beautiful informative video! The narration is excellent. Love the details of the architecture plans and the beautiful pictures. Such an interesting time in history for sure. Bravo !!!!
I quite prefer the King’s design style in his personal chambers over the Queen’s now that I see it. I’m not sure why they made the wallpapers in her bedroom with that pink rose pattern, but it looks far too busy next to the gold baroque crown moldings in the room already.
Was the courtyard of the stags an arranged hunting area for kings? Furniture of the gods and Minerva the owl? Life was ruled by etiquette? I bet it was very stressful and tense in and around the royal residence. Was it a gilded golden prison for those of the bloodline actually making them miserable?
@@AvecPoesie Same here. If I had the money and funds I'd build the most beautiful and extravagant house there ever was to be. It's a shame these "new money" folks don't look into this enough.
There are too many nouveau riche running around with boundless money and a complete lack of taste not to mention most of them being completely and utterly vulgar.

For the longest time I have been asking myself 🤔 What made the people of France to start a new revolution to the extent that it abandoned Kingdom of the Country. It is clear that Kings of France was a menace to society, having the pain staking process of being extolled morning, everyday, high handedness and vainglorious day to day strict standards, this and who knows what was enough a cause-except Russian Federation which seems more humane and kind to subjects.
it's was a plan ku by the jacobins . there was plenty of news paper propaganda building up for a while to get the people worked up, then paid agitators were used to spark the chaos .this type of method has been used time and time again though out history

I was able to visit 30 yrs ago (wow!) and was pleased to see the art. Drapery painting has always fascinated me.

Labor was kept in its place and was really cheap, the modern economy has not recovered from wage rises yet.

les plumes sales sont-elles importantes pour le design ?
Nice pad but I would hate to dust it....

Yes it was! And indeed!!
This is what I want to see todays rich people houses looking like instead of it all being plain, blocky and gray & white
Same...minimalism is the antithesis of all that I find beautiful and pleasing to the eye.

Brother, can you spare a Quarter?
Always makes me sad to see a palace without still having a Royal Family. They just feel like cold museums.
