John Bednar from Tech 21 demonstrates the RPM preamplifier for bass guitar. Enjoy the demo, then check out the RPM preamp in detail right here: bit.ly/SW_RPMpreamp
So cool to actually see John. Only mailed with him a couple of times for som repair tips and I pictured a completely different person 😆 Great video by the way!
The sansamp rpm is awesome beyond all reason! It's great for guitar and bass. You can get that Rush in Rio "GONNA EAT YOU UP" sound, and you can get the cleanest fattest bossiest bass tone you ever heard! I love mine, its worth every penny!
Would this be good in a live setting? I know it requires a rack and I can cover that, I'm just trying to choose between this or the bass driver v2. I love the look and sound of the rpm but the bass driver seems so convenient in a live setting. Please help!
I used 2 bass drivers, one clean and one dirty with an overdrive into one. For a live setting, I was using the BDDI's into an ART Pro MPA II at high plate voltage with Tung Sol 12AX7's, then fed that into a dbx 166a, and into an ART Tube EQ on each side. I found that the best sound without the additional EQ was putting Bass and Treble around 1 o'clock, Blend at about 50/50 or 25 clean 75 wet, and adjust presence to taste. I usually ran less Presence on the clean side, more on the dirty side. All that combined did a pretty darn fine imitation of an Ampeg SVT-CL.
I've never seen a video where someone changes multiple instruments for a quick demo. if it bothers you that much, the best way to find out how it works is to go test one out with your jazz.
Definitely sounds like a solid player to me. I'd like to know how this was recorded. It doesn't sound direct. Sounds like an amp. I'd like to hear it into a recording rig.
RPM: some would say smoother overdrive, selectable frequency for the midrange RBI: more aggressive drive, presence control instead of a midrange frequency selector There are other differences but those are the basics the way I see it.
Greg Wells introduced us to this Sans Amp RB1 it's a must have for home studio
I bought it cause Gregs sound awesome song and sound
He did the product justice IMO, enough in fact, that I'm considering this as my new bass preamp.

I would like to try one of these out.
How do I run the RPM in parallel w/ my Mesa M- Pulse 600 head?
What are the main differences between the RBI RPM and VT rack units ?
Hi. Is the Geddy Lee signature GED 2112 rack based on the RPM ? Did Geddy Lee used the RBI or the RPM on the Rush n Rio concert ? Thanks.

Can I use a Peavey CS 800X to power
preamp
Had no idea Criss Angel played bass.....
Beat me to it lol
Just got one, it's different through a head and cab
what kind of cab was this running out of?

How about for the guitar pre amp?

I'm really curious how this works, can this its self power a cab for live sound or does it need an actual seperate amp head?
Needs an amp

9 years later lol I understand the “blend” knob to be what increases the amp sound. That’s how I’ve always heard it that way.
Why don't they get actual Bass Players to demo the merch?
Me too. What's the difference in the RBI and RPM?
RPM: some would say smoother overdrive, selectable frequency for the midrange
RBI: more aggressive drive, presence control instead of a midrange frequency selector

RPM does every electric instrument you can think of well. It's more balanced. RBI is made for bass.
Only da midrange section!?
Whats da difference between rbi and rpm?!
Peter Kamionka the RBI is specifically for bass guitar and the RPA is more suited for sound reinforcement or using multiple instruments.
how many watts is this?
I also am wondering the watts?
Kyle Dorshimer
It's a Preamp. Not an Amplifier.
burningkarma ya i found that out 2 days ago.
its gotta have a power amp too.
wow, not everybody uses a pbass, why dont you demo with a jazz bass instead...
cool unit, but John do you really play bass? Would'nt it be better to have some demo the unit that can do your product justice?
Hold on. Let's just cater to your specific needs while everyone using "modern" soapbar pickup basses sits back and says nothing.
talking / playing ratio is way off
