Forging Military SCYTHE out of Rusted Iron Chain

- Today I'm going to forge Scythe a pole weapon used by military. Couple of years back i forged a scythe with a different design, you guys loved it, so i decided to make another one with a new design so here it is.
This time I used rusted iron chain Link to forge it. I believe iron of chain is quite good to forge something big and strong. I hope you'll enjoy it and share it with everyone and let me know your favorite weapons from history in the comment section. If you enjoyed video give it thumbs up and Subscribe @OLDSMITH to never miss any update.

Check out I already made another scythe couple of years ago. Here is the link: ua-cam.com/video/vCn6xhzZlII/v-deo.html
Thanks for coming.
You do know that you put the sharp end on the blade on the wrong side, right?
I love the blade bud but that theres a khopesh. Not a scythe. Again i say gorgeous work but it is a tad mislabeled there friendo.
you are too good to be forgeing at home
@@IamLeRoy8 Yeah, I did it intentionally.
3:20 the saw be like pe pe pe pe
Hypnotic watching an old chain link become a thing of beauty. Great work.
Glad you enjoy it!
@@OLDSMITHNow put a lifesteal enchantment on it.
@@thestudymaster01 *_how about frenzy !?_*
@@Explorer-um7dm That would actually suit it better lol
I just wish that in another life I've studied ironworks just to make things like those
Dont wish, get started in this life...thats what im trying to do, why shouldnt you try something that interests you?
Never too late to start!
Any day is a good day to learn a new skill, my friend
What are you doing to your pandas those are so expensive
@@akuiori is an occupation like this something you study in college or trade school?
It’s like a khopesh and a spear combined 😮
Indeed it is very artistic and amazing work! Still can’t believe that it was a rusty chain before 😮
At this point he has a whole arsenal
frrrr,if someone tries robbing him, dude can just pick up a scythe or trident and make the dumbass that tried run in fear-
seriously,a guy with enough free time to turn a wrench & rusted chain into SCYTHES is not a kinda guy you should want problems with-
@@AliMation4202 if the robber pick up a weapon from his arsenal then that would be a dual
He probably made Roblox arsenal
@@AliMation4202 bro that robber probably wouldn’t even come for money he’d probably go for the weapons because those things could be a lotttt of money
@@mosquitosquadofficial2398 okay,u right
I'm a simple man. I see the word "scythe", I click it.
Same
?
Me too
I love scythes, my favorite weapon.
Real
So, just as a point of order, it would be a poleaxe. A scythe would have the blade on the interior of the curve, not the outside. No matter what, it is a beautiful fantasy piece.
Did u mean polearm? I've never heard it that way but it could be the same thing lol.
@@Lord_and_Savior-x a polearm is any long weapon that has a long pole and may also have a head of any shape on it. A poleaxe is a polearm, usually shorter than a halberd, used for single combat. Saying polearm is the equivalent of firearm. It’s a generic term used to describe many things.
It is
It's the shape of a scythe, but it's not really one. The inner curve is suppose to sharpened, not the outer curve. You just made a medieval battle weapon.
Yeah, I agree with you. Scythe's inner curve should be sharpen but I'm not going to cut crops and I made a weapon so I sharp it's outer curve to make it practical weapon.
Hope you understand.
Thanks for commenting :)
🤓
@@OLDSMITHIt’s like if a khopesh and a glaive had a weird baby
May not be a scythe but it is cool
all i could think of when you where doing the engravings on the blade was "NO ROOBEER NOOO ROOBEER, ROOBEER NO ROOBEER."
I have no words to say how beautiful your work was. As we say here in Brazil: YOU KILLED IT! Congratulations .
arrasou
Awesome brother ❤
Scythe one of my fav close combat weapons. I still need to make my black hole scythe
3:19 to 3:36 is so satisfying and should be turned into an album
This weapon would be much more imposing if it had a blade on both sides, it would be something much more unusual
I mean that was the intention of turning a farm scythe blade 90 degree up in the first place, a double edged glaive.
@@generalgabrielsatori That would be something very interesting and fun
@@generalgabrielsatori a farm scythe was not double edged though. I've owned and seen many and even in medieval Europe it was the same only the concave side was sharpened. To have it double edged as a work tool would have posed a risk to the person using it . And if you see the old war scythe it is indeed single edged.
That would just be a enlarged sickle then
That does exist
It's so nice and thankful for putting a protection to the screen just to protect the eyes of his viewers when he begin to welding 😊😊
That’s cool Man
I like how this would be a good basis for a decorative Egyptian Khopesh
Nice job looks very good
It's surprising that you forged a beautiful military scythe and it's usable, great job!!!😍😍😍😍
I wish I could learn this type of craftmanship maybe not specifically to forge weapons but it would come in handy in the future.
Looks a bit like an Egyptian Khopesh. Neat design.
i know this is meant to be a scythe.. but i cannot unsee the Cooper Family Cane when i look at it, still a beautifully crafted piece all the same
I can see it a bit. Definitely something Sly would use
Very good work, congratulations friend
Cool keep it up you do what most peapol can't
You've inspired me to become a blacksmith u have my respect my guys.
its so satisfying watching something so beautiful be forged
I feel like this is more of an axe. Don't get me wrong, it's a very cool weapon and the process to make one is incredible. I just think that with the bladed edge being on the outside of the curve, this would be used more like an axe. A scythe cuts on the inside of the curve to pull grass(or a person in the case of a war scythe) towards the cutting edge, like a sickle. With this, you have to cut with the outside of the curve, making it more similar to an axe blade for chopping, not hooking.
Scythe is 2h, sickle is 1h.
@@pryamulWhat does that mean?
@@aidenwallin3523 I was just saying a scythe is a 2 handed implement and a sickle is 1 handed.
@@pryamulThat makes sense. I was just referring to the blade.
DUDE, this is SERIOUSLY COOL. I have an extremely cool idea to make this even better tho, but it's weird.
so basically, can you please cut the scythe in half, use the half with the blade as a scabbard, and then use the bottom part to make a short sword, and build a thingy to stabilize the entire thing when combined, that would be really cool.
This guy is making bank with cool weapons and I'm here for it, but looking back at older video's I preferred watching you cut out the shape of the blade instead of the transition into it being already cut, but I definitely love how you showcased the scythe, very fun way to showcase.
I like this category of videos because it’s just cool to see a weapon being forged like it’s from some movie or video game
That musta taken quite some time! [smile] Nice dedication, nice work.
Finally a historycally accurate scythe
a masterpiece and a work of art
Someone: *robs his house* old smith: one second let me choose my weapon
Old Smith: *becomes General Grievous with all of the weapons*
I’m hearing the “Choose your character!” From the announcer in my head and I can’t unhear it lmao
Almost like a Halbert/Kopesh. Wonderful
I am from India. Thanks for the grwat forging video of the scythe.
Beautifully Crafted
Great looking Scythe and you did a wonderful job making it as well!!!!
I enjoyed your video so I gave it a Thumbs Up
No introduction just straight to making
It's like a Kopesh + Nagimaki! awesome!
The hard 90 degrees on where the blade goes to tang feels like it'd end up a point of failure from stress buildup
Fantastic!😁
Glad you liked it!
Nice video bro
I would've made it double-edged, but this is absolutely beautiful and I would wield it in battle with pride.
Bro, it will be more fun to watch if you test these weapons on some objects
Btw great video ❤️❤️
Imagine breaking into his home and he just grabs this massive thing from his wall, ain't nobody messing with this dude
Continue the great work idol and happy Halloween guys
If Zombie apocalypse start then I want this man in my team.
that looks like a sickle but with an inverted blade at the start
3:14 banger
Nice vid btw
That's a very nice glaive you made there.
I'd use that. I like polearms that are a little shorter. Much easier to control, and still gives you a reach advantage over most opponents. Plus, it's not as easy to get inside your reach, since that zone is much smaller!
Great and fastastic work, congratulations! I would like to see next time two sickles like Maltael from Diablo 3 had.
It's... It's... GOOD
For each like 10 pullups
80 pullups lil bro
62000 pullups lil bro
bruh what totally military scythe related
280 pull-ups
410 pullups bruh
Awesome job
Magnificent... some cuneiform script on the blade would be easy and just over the top awesome!
I wish I had the money to buy this!!! Its so awesome! Amazing work and design ❤🔥
dude this guy should compete in "forged in fire" 👍👍
This reminds me of Loretta's war sickle. If you don't know who that is, look up Elden Ring bosses, Loretta is one of them, and she has a weapon kinda similar to this, but longer. Its an awesome piece though, well done.
bro now has whole arsenal at his disposal. DO NOT mess with this man
It looks so good
Its just crazy if this was used to be a scythe in ancient Rome
And has a full history thats just to crazy🤔
And cool transition u have there🎉 10:40
And i subbed now really support ur makings😀
Darrow O'Lykos, the Reaper of Mars, approves this weapon.
With enough time and enough rusted chains, anything is possible
Great work!
1:44 I thought coffin dance was about to start playing
Bro would be capable of surviving the apocalypse with just homeforged weapons
Enemy: IM GOING TO END YOU!! This guy: give me 15 mins.
CANT let gng know I fw this 😭😭🙏🙏🙏🙏
REALY AWESOME BLADE! Except for the little dink on the guard. I wounder how much it sells for?
15:36 Wooow ive never seen a YT Video with welding glasses for the Viewers ^^
ive learned something in the first of your Videos ive seen (Styrofoam instead of casting wax)
i love it, Thank you!
It's more of a glaive than it is a scythe, but it still looks amazing dude
Good work
Awesom work!! I like !
Am I the only one who wants all those paper templates he uses?
Good job 😊👍
That would look cooler as a dagger, also he should make a Grim Reaper Scythe
best video to watch while eating
Me after cutting that chain link: 'C is for cookie that's good enough eat, C is for cookie that's good enough for me' 🎶 😊
bro 10/10 you put sooooo much efort
i love the scythe, beautiful work but, it always hurts my OCD when i see a design done on one side but not on the other.
wow I love your videos it must be so much work
Next Make thor hammer
Que trabalho fenomenal, muito bem feito
wow very good video😍😍😍
Oh, look at the shoes and shoes are fire drippy😎😎😎😎😎
Awesomeness 😎
Respect for the legend ❤🎉
I wouldn’t really say that it is a scythe but it’s more like a poleaxe except the blade isn’t completely thick and that the blade is sticking out. Either way it looks rlly cool
It mostly look like a spear more than a scythe
Put blade on both ends . With a full tang . I do like the looks of it .
Super😮😮😮
At 14:46, was that metal spike to re-inforce the blade/crossguard's attachment to the handle in addition to what appeared to be glue?
Awesome video. Very fun watch.
Yes, the epoxy alone isn't enough to hold the blade in place to the handle. Adding a mechanical component prevents the blade from wiggling in any air pockets within the epoxy which could, over a long enough period of use, cause the epoxy to loosen its hold for the metal and the wood.
@@GrinningJest3r Thank you very much for the explanation
cool design, but I think this falls more closer towards a mini halberd than a scythe. And I love halberds
pray this man don't turn into a villain
So good
Love you bro (random hands)
My dumbass thought those chains in the thumbnail were donuts.
ur vids are amazing
not my type of scythe but its cool
Please consider destroying a few objects with the weapons you make. This video was nearly perfect.
