When I was a young child, I used to pester my mother to please play the song for me on the piano. She would take a break from her chores to sit down and play it while I sat next to her on the piano bench. Not having any time to practice, she would make mistakes here and there, but I didn't mind because she would play with such sweet expression. This song will always remind me of her.

Me too! Schubert's Fantasy in F Minor D. 940 is almost as lovely, though, and Kassia plays it really beautifully here on UA-cam. If Schubert/Liszt is your thing, she also plays Ave Maria and it's a gorgeous arrangement. Would also recommend checking out all of Erik Satie's Gnossiennes played by the late great Reinbert de Leeuw. Just search it, there's a video of him just a little while before he died playing them all. They're the strangest, most haunting soul food.

D-minor, always gloomy and intimate. My favourite key since I heard it doing my first scale exercises.
That was the moment I discovered I wanted to become also a composer, to write gloomy and memorable pieces. And that was the key. My teacher said to me that I would prefer D-Major, as music needs happiness.
Nah! Sorry teacher, but sadness, unfortunately, makes part of our lives.
    Btw, very well played!

comencé a aprender como tocarla en piano y es grandioso cuando sólo dejas que tus dedos se muevan de forma espontánea en determinado momento....una forma increíble de conversar con uno mismo....

I had been playing piano since I was 6 years old since my childhood's friend grandma who is also my neighbor teaches piano! I never really realized how much I love playing piano until I gave up on it last year because of school...I wish I had the time and money to continue doing piano lessons!
