Nice video! I have owned a multitude of sports cars ranging from the Porsche 944 Turbo to the Ford Mustang SVO to the BMW M3....all with various street and track modifications. I purchased a brand new 2011 EVO X GSR, enhanced with a different suspension, exhaust and intake and ran only 93 octane non ethanol. I drove this beautiful vehicle four days every week for four years across 36 miles of mountainous side roads round trip to my workplace. This car is truly the sweetest and most capable drivers car this side of $100,000 IMO. When I learned of Mitsubishi's plans to discontinue their jewel, I put her into the garage and bring her out only on perfect days.
Evos are so much fun to drive. Once you engage in gear you forget about the details in the interior. It feels like a race car, it sucks they come very restricted when stock, but you only need little and affordable mods to make it run as it should have from the factory.
+rockitfighter well you have to get "oem" parts. This means they are parts that fit directly without having to modify your car to make them fit. I live in California, regulations here are the most strict in the US. I recommend getting street legal. They are a bit more expensive but not much, this street legal parts will come with certification since the are carb compliant. This will prevent your warranty from becoming void. But do some research, I would recommend to wait till the warranty runs out.
+Fred R I had an evo ten too, I guess affordable means something else to different people. It depends on how much money you make and have for parts. 250 to 300 is really cheap for an exhaust. I would say 800 and up to get something that won't break the warranty like magna flow makes street legal 3in systems and downpipes with high flow cats that are obd2 compliant. They make oem fitment parts that wont break the warranty . K&N makes street legan intakes that are carb compliant and are oem, they provide you with documents so you can prove oem certification. One really need to know about this so you dont get screwed by the dealer, they asume you don't know so they will try to deny service when is your right to get service. The only way to really be sure is to just wait intil warranty runs out. This goes for any car really, I did the same mods to my audi that I had on my evo and I never got service denied because I changed parts, man they even installed parts for me at the dealer since they were oem fitment.
Thanks for the info. I'm resisting the urge to mod and save the money for repairs. My bunk left knee loves the MR's twin clutch but it occasional makes funny sounds.
I've had a total of 3 Evo X's... 08, 13 and 14.. all were great. FBO's on the 08 and 14, also daily driven. Zero issues, kept a smile always. Missed heavily.
Exactly I Daily mine as well. People say its rough but then u have these guys driving drop civics with cheap springs that drive like shit and that's supposed to be fine
fun fact according to Wikipedia the guy who designed the EVO10 now works for Ferrari. I wonder if one of the suits in Maranello has an Evo tucked away in their stable.
so many people complaining about the new engine being aluminium instead of cast iron and can't take as much aftermarket boost blah blah. Mitsubishi is clearly sending us a message that Evo is a cornering machine, not a dragster. although S-AYC has existed on Evo since gen 8, this magnificent piece of tech has always been overshadowed by the engine's potential to gain 500 extra bhp. i love the last gen Evo. it might be my favourite car. and i'm so glad that the 4b11T is a big turn-off to those who likes to stoop this beautiful machine to a dragster. Evo shouldn't be a car that gives you cravings of more and more speed in a straight line. it's a car that pushes you to refine your driving skills and makes you strive be an overall better driver. btw i currently own a stock ralliart (except for the suspension cuz it has normal lancer's suspension which rolls like a donkey). might look into owning an unmodded EvoX FE later this year. and i'm gonna keep it that way.
Actually they build this engine because with the new restrictions the 4G63 was down from 282hp to 260hp. I'm with you on this the EVO is a rally and track car I don't like these 700 800whp EVOs. Mine is at 330whp and it will stay that way.
The block being aluminum and "unable to hold high amounts of power" complaint is kinda irrelevant anyway due to the fact Mitsubishi sleeved the 4b11t's cylinders from the factory.
That's what I'm thinking , I daily a Miata and the interior not bad it just rattles here and their. Want a better daily driver I love the 8/9 but the 10 got a nice inside
@@daiskebrandan8327 plus the 10 has the awc torque vectoring. i wouldn't say it has more grip but it turns harder. Just different but i think an improvement
Power: Stock power does die off after 6k RPM. A professional tune even on everything stock makes the car behave way more fun and keeps the boost until redline. Steering: Steering tightness depends upon the toe alignment. Stock alignment makes car feel more stable and tighter steering, but often people do custom alignment to 0 toe front and back which makes car turn in much better and you can throw it around, but sacrifices the steering feeling.
7:47 - 7:55 I love how you left that in the video to let us hear how the evo sounds. Just mint. Gave me goosebumps. I'm sad I'll never get the chance to buy one from factory to call my own. Great review
For a guy who's never owned or driven an EVO I appreciate the brutal honesty in this video. Mitsubishi probably saved money on the interior bits so they could put it into the seats. Popular car though 👍
Most coilovers allow you to raise the car as well as lower it. The issue for dirt/sand/gravel/snow rally type driving is the compression and rebound range wouldn't likely be optimized as most OTS coilovers are geared towards tarmac of one flavor, or another. Though, rally type coilovers are a thing, too.
I don't get tired of watching this video. Evo is my dream car, and i probably will buy one this year. Here in Brazil we do not have the Final Edition, we have one called Jhon Eanston with 335hp stock, which I intend to buy
The power does die off around 5500 rpm. A tune fixes it. Even the OTS maps from COBB help out, but I still had a lot of knock up top so I got custom tuned. I have a 2014 Evo X GSR and love it. Just adding an intake, hard pipe kit, test pipe, catback, Grimmspeed EBCS and tune really wakes it up. I'm at a conservative 320 whp because it's still my daily. Going E85 next month and hoping to move into the 400whp range. After that is sway bars and coilovers to help with the body roll a bit. It's not bad, but coming from my old FR-S, it's pretty noticeable.
I was waiting for this review! If i had the money, i would have definitely gone for the Evo 10! I got the 2015 Lancer GT instead which is still a beautiful car and a great daily driver!
Nice car granted. I own a MR myself. But I think a stockish Evo has been reviewed many many times. Now if you get behind something a lot more modded, it would be a whole different story. I would look for something that has a turbo swap, or full bolt ons. 270/280 at the wheels is fun. But when I had my car at that power level, I had fun for a while. Maybe a year. Then I bumped it closer to 400..a whole lot different. With all said, great video! Keep up the great work, and keep on keeping on!
Have an Evo X and installed that shifter handle from AMS Performance. It started to melt in hot weather and got really sticky. I'm sure AMS has plenty of good stuff but don't waste your $ on their shifter handle.
One thing I hate about my evo x is that working on the turbo..... it's annoying. So much easier on the 4g63. The x's turbo is right against the firewall and is a pain.
How's the reliability? I have no practical knowledge on working on cars so I'd give to a garage for servicing. Is that enough? Any problems with the complex electronics? I'm looking to buy one
Now i have no clue if you could ever get your hands on one, but i would love to see a feature on a lowered, shortened, DIESEL, street/drag truck. Preferably not a Cummins... Weird request but i know i would love to see one, and it would be super unique.
I still find this car appealing (interior and exterior) even now in 2024. There's something about the right balance of technology and simplicity that I find attractive in this car in 2024 when nearly all cars are convoluted with complicated software that's only going to be used 30-40% by its owners.

This guy clearly never owned an evo, my man how can you say the 9 has better interior?. I personally owned 2 evo 9s and now a final edition, and by far evo x has better interior. Sure you want a better interior then you gonna have to pay for it, the $38k dollar will be at $45k msrp. And that car has aftermarket intake but still on stock exhaust? wow how old is the owner , 5? terrible, if you dont have the money to spend on buch of parts, at least start right for the car... nice video by the way.
If you're ever looking for 9th Generation Civic Si's let me know. I own a almost full bolt on N/A car with BC Racing coilovers, shortshift, etc. canyon carver that I test on these exact roads north or Aldergrove. I've got a buddy with CT Supercharged, aftercooled, big injector, and much more. And another buddy with totally stock. All 3 of them white 4 door models. Might be interesting to do a full back to back review of the 3 or maybe all separate. Let me know. I'm also one of the Admins for the 8th and 9th gen civic for BC. Cheers!
Imagine ad08r 265 with volk te37 sl, ohlins coilovers, rck, hotchkis roll bars, girodisc brake discs, fbo engine with a protune, weight reduction, these = stupid fast and dangerous.

great car, the only downside is that outdated reflector based headlights, I have a friend got his evo modified/retrofitted with LED projector headlights and it makes the evo look ten times better :)
The headlights on this particular demo car are from the lower end GSR models. The upgraded packages have projectors headlights with HIDS and daytime running lights. Still not LEDs, but WAY nicer than the ones shown in the video
Unfortunately, part of the fun is getting to drive the cars. In many countries such as the UK, something like that at that age is physically impossible.
No one said you had to start off driving cars like this. Record the videos and people will watch them. You could drive a banged up ford fiesta with a body kit on it and people would watch it.
I have a 2014 GSR and it fuckin awesome! I'm up to 413whp and I'm still adding more. No problems yet except when my car was tuned to 93 and I was in Arizona where there is NO 93. I had a cracked piston head and it still pulled 400whp on the dyno. If that doesn't prove how awesome this car is, i don't know what will.
I'm not sure they have a 2017. At least not here in the states. The last production was May 2016 and I'm not so sure they are different than the 2014 I have. Only difference is between the GSR and MR, which I've heard the MRs are harder to work on due to the dual clutch system but I'm not 100%.
Hmm I think it is just too heavy. Subarus and evos and a lot of cars just get heavier and heavier. Maybe one manufacturer will change it up and make the car lighter instead of adding power and weight.
thats what they need to focus on, but its hard with all the safety regulations. I've driven a GC8 wrx and been in a few newer sti's, even as a passenger the weight difference is noticeable. i own an 03 wrx and it feels like a perfect medium between the two
Nice video!

thank you for this... there hasn't been a new review on an evo 10 in so long
Great review. First time in many reviews I've seen about the EVO where there is no mention the WRX STi. Well done.
X is beautiful car! Love these gen. more then other evo’s .
what a masterpiece of engineering... and also well tuned I have to say, I'd be proud of that car if it was mine

YES another Roads Untraveled video! Review the Cadillac CTS V-Sport you will not be disappointed!!!
Really great video! I own the 2011 ralliart with the same 4b11t engine and evo 9 drivetrain. Really love how it handles!
that's gonna be a colt car for sure...I'd have one over a Evo...sportback,hmmmm,yeeees....excuse me.
*cult
Curse the day some bloke named Dillon decided to correct me!...what was my mother thinking when she gave me birth!???
Thank you for existing !! I love you guys and your videos

this is true xD still like my X better tho

Are you on crack? Evo xs are much bigger and evo 9 interior is better??
yeah wtf
for a daily, maybe
Such a beautiful piece of work. I want one so bad.
power does drop at the end of the power band. the wastegate spring drops to 17lbs after peaking at 20psi. aftermarket wastegates are better

So Mitsu killed the GTO and now the Evolution huh? Are they the new Toyota?
Nissan is now a major share holder of Mitsubishi motors, could be the beginnings of something epic.
Jake warren Let's hope so.
I honestly'' dont see that happening at all. But Lets hope so, I work at Nissan, my buddy works at Tennesse Nissan headquarters. and he said its doubtful, although too soon to really determine.

Evo x 😍🔥
I stopped watching this when he said that the Evo 9 had a nicer interior and never said why.
no you didnt, you watched till the end, liar
Tony W shit, I said the same thing too. Evo 8/9 are pretty much a 90s Corolla with a turbo stuck on.
i felt more in control in my 9. The x pretty much drives itself
I bought a 2015 GSR a few months ago. I love it so much but no Recaros 😢😢😢
Started saving for it...
How did it go?
a JDM Brian is the best Brian there is
Can you get one with out the stick sift because I want one one and don’t want to get a stick sifter one

Great review/video. According to the car
I am considering buying an evo as my daily driver
My dream car, I'll get it one day..
You need to try a first gen Evo :) Preferably an Evo 3 with basic performance upgrades.
you video editing is top notch

hompfully gonna get one by next year august
Did the owner put spacers on the wheels? They seem a lot more flush to the fenders than the others I've seen.
It's nice when someone can recognize that the drivetrain doesn't include the engine.
interior of a evo8/9 better than the evo10 ???
The headlamp its look like nissan skyline i think

Should i buy the BMW f30 or Evo 10?
that evo had a lot of front end bounce that I noticed
My only Ultimate Dream Car in the Universe 💙💙💙🚘🚘🚘
EVO in black color is sexiest imo
Im debating wether this or the 8,9
How much does it cost in dollars? (0km)
Hi what subtype is this car?
is there an evo 8 or 9 coming
Yes!
Did you find one already?
+Emiliano Lombardi There's three white one's alone at my University
Was asking because I have one Graphite grey, 600whp. and also a nsx but not really built.
Roads Untraveled awesome thanks
Need to make a review on a 1g dsm
you are very lucky marcus..I wish could do this thing you do...
+giorgos raptis you can. Pretty simple. Just get out there and film! I filmed our first episode when I was 20.
NO MUSIC PLEASE.. CAR NOISE ONLY
Guys, the intro song is called: Zedion - Radiance
Welcome :)
Daniel Jarząbek Thanks
I want an evo. But, does the 2017 Mitsubishi Lancer EX a nice car in tuning/mods/build? With the 4B11 engine?
I have a 2014 GSR and it fuckin awesome! I'm up to 413whp and I'm still adding more. No problems yet except when my car was tuned to 93 and I was in Arizona where there is NO 93. I had a cracked piston head and it still pulled 400whp on the dyno. If that doesn't prove how awesome this car is, i don't know what will.
Joe Christ but 2014 was still a good model. How about the 2017s?
I'm not sure they have a 2017. At least not here in the states. The last production was May 2016 and I'm not so sure they are different than the 2014 I have. Only difference is between the GSR and MR, which I've heard the MRs are harder to work on due to the dual clutch system but I'm not 100%.
How would this fair against a modern M3? On the road?
lexus isf video?
What lip did he put on it?
nailed it when you said normal people
how many mm of your wheel spaicers?
Have you driven any STIs? If so which do u prefer EVO or STI?
Are they reliable ?
Just curious, why is mitsubishi discontinuing the evo
money, they cant spend on the development and stuff, really sucks
What coils are those
Aduhh..alus kieu ieu mobil..mantap kang..
awesome video 👍
Those Coilovers seem too bouncy . What are they ???
I will own 1 someday
Hmm I think it is just too heavy. Subarus and evos and a lot of cars just get heavier and heavier. Maybe one manufacturer will change it up and make the car lighter instead of adding power and weight.
well yes they will get heavier due to safety equipment. airbags. that damn ac compressor witch weighs a ton. shame they went out of production
Tony Crawford yeh fair enough but what about these huge SUVs which are in some cases more than 2 tonnes, no need for it.
Look at Mazda. MX-5 and Mazda 3 are both down a huge amount of weight from last generation.
s00perflab yeh and they've always managed to keep the RXs down, mainly due to the weight of the motor but they are still very light.
thats what they need to focus on, but its hard with all the safety regulations. I've driven a GC8 wrx and been in a few newer sti's, even as a passenger the weight difference is noticeable. i own an 03 wrx and it feels like a perfect medium between the two
they should make a coupe version again.
Would love to see a decent S13 on the channel!
how much price in malaysia?
What lip is that?
Can you review a Lexus IS300 please??
