Holding down the home button and the volume down button at the same time, while simultaneously inserting your battery (while plugged into the charging cable) works fine for my phone.

The button on-off fell, but if you used a needle or something thin enough, you could still turn it on or off... Until a week ago. But I could still make it go on sleep-mode fast with the ultra economy thing on my S5... Then my phone fell, the battery disconnected, and my phone turned off... I was actually despaired not being able to make it work again as I don't plan on buying a new one. Then I found your video after being stressed for a whole day.

Yes, on my S3 i9300, wait until the battery turns green, pull the usb cord, pull the battery, insert the battery. S3 booted the first time in months! You absolute beauty Elpha! :-D
OMG THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! my power button has been broken for almost a year now, so every time I have to shut off my phone, because it's rambling or something, I take out my battery and put it back in. Then I have to press the power button constantly for over a half an hour sometimes before it finally works. So now I have an easier way! Thank you so much!

I can't thank you enough man, you are a HERO!! Worked on Samsung Galaxy Note II. I did not even need to do it fast. Now I will try to use ADB to switch my broken power button permanatly to the volume keys.

I removed the switch as you explained in the other video, but holding down the menu and down volume buttons did not bring up the onscreen menu. This strategy works fine, and my galaxy is usable once again. Thanks man!
Thank you so much! It's 2021 now and I almost got charged for an astronomical amount of money just to turn back on my Samsung Galaxy S3 power (the repairman said the model is way too old to be saved).

This did not work for me. I have a Galaxy S5. What I did to make it come back on was:
1. Hold down the volume button with the home button
2. While holding down those buttons, plug the USB cord into the computer and plug in phone.
3. It goes into update mode and just push the "down" volume key for cancel on the update.
My phone then restarted. I originally turned my phone off because my power button wasn't working, which is why I couldn't turn it back on. This actually fixed my problem and my power button now works!!

My power button doesn't work for my S3 either, but I turn it on by a similar method:
If you have the phone plugged in without the battery, you can hold the Home and Volume Down keys together as you insert the battery. Keep those buttons held down. The phone will vibrate, then a notice appears on the screen to install a custom OS.
You don't want to do that unless you're okay with voiding your warranty and actually want to root the phone, but if you just press the Volume Down key again the phone will restart. Magic.
I've had to use this method for a few months. It's a bit of a pain, but if you don't have as quick of hands as this guy it's another way.
Yay! After getting past what seemed like a game of twister with my fingers to do all this, I got it! haven't used my phone in almost 3 weeks!

I tried the other methods it says on Google (volume & home button; +- volume & home button; connect to pc & press volume and home button). None of that worked. It's frustrating and scary.

Seriously, this worked. The On Button fell out of my S5 and I've been booting up with a mini-screwdriver on my Swiss Army Knife. After a while even the screwdriver stopped working. This really did work but you must be quick. Thanks,

samsung used to king tricks like this saved so many memories,important files for people who buttons on their phone didn't work anymore, and still gave them access to the phone they paid for. The removable battery/sd slot is something I cant believe they went away from to become iphone clones. Thank u so much for posting this#

Thanks Elpha Tutorials!! Your method helped me power on my Note 3! I had give up that this would work with the Note 3 cos a similar UA-cam tutorial to this was slightly different; in that one he waited till the second battery charging animation started, that didn't work for me.

Unplug the USB and battery when the battery icon appears and it turns green instead of unplugging it right when battery icon appears.........
AND U HAVE TO DO THIS VERY FAST IN A FRACTION OF SECOND.......i got it working on my 10th try and i practiced it for another 5 mins later on ...........got used to it really fast..........

(old phone info) - This also helped boot my Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 into bootmode. Having it plugged in, take the battery out. Put the battery back in and hold the home button down.(You have to do this before the phone starts auto charging) It'll take you to the boot menu, and from there you can continue to load the phone.

Hey man nice shot. Awesome Tip, My power button has been acting up forever, I can usualy keep it running for a few weeks but every now and then it starts acting up. My initial solution was to take it apart, spray compressed air on the button, then use some contact cleaner sprayed on the button, then a drop or two of weasel piss (WD-40). I may never own another Samsung again, they're way too fragile. My DX fell of the roof of my car coming home from work while I was driving about 60mph. I found the phone that night along with the battery cover. Went back the next day and found the battery. The corners were scratched really bad but the thing booted right up afterward. No Otterbox defernder or anything like that one it either. Maybe I was lucky, but I just believe Moto made better phones. I don't know about now since the mobile division is now owned by google, and I hate locked bootloaders, but that's becoming the norm these days and someone smarter than me usually finds a way around that.. ..... Thanks again man for this grreat tip. And taking the time to post the vid.
