Protesting is generally protected, yes. But these situations are well beyond that. Those kids can choose to protest, but if they aren't going to classes they can be expelled. Also: you cannot prevent access to buildings and roads and such, that impacts the rights of others to live their lives.
With ALL things, there are limits, EVEN PROTEST.
