He started in WW2 because its essentially at that point we no longer isolated ourselves as aside from the war with Spain did not part take in international politics and after WW1 and the failure of the league of nations combined with the forthcoming great depression we were again in isolation. WW2 is when we started to police the world. Rough outline but you get the idea.
The U.S. only became a "Super Power" AFTER the Second World War. Our influence in the World during the 1700's and 1800's was minimal. We grew to be in the position to fight and win and then rebuild during that time. But mostly kept to ourselves. So it makes perfect sense to start at World War Two.
You should check out the video about the Berlin Airlift! There was an American pilot who German children called the “Raisin Bomber” or “Candy Bomber” because he would drop sweets for them. The children asked “How will we know you from all the other planes?” He told them: “I’ll wiggle my wings!” A few days later the children spotted him and he wiggled his wings and dropped sweets as promised but he did ask one thing of the children: that they share. When the American public found out they had all the major American candy makers donating massive amounts of candy to be delivered to the German children. Apparently the Berlin Airlift is what finally caused Germans to view America as friends rather than enemies. They were shocked that despite WW2 and the Nazi atrocities that Americans were willing to put such a massive effort and cost into keeping Berlin supplied.
“Communism is the most discredited political ideology since slavery.” - Dinesh D’Souza It’s 100% true! All someone has to do is look at the difference between West Berlin and East Berlin. Same people. Same country. Same culture. But East Berlin went Commie and ruined half of Berlin. Now Berlin is capitalist and it’s much better.
What the US did for Europe in the Marshal Plan is overshadowed by what it did for Japan. Modern Japan was, the only way to really put this, an experiment by the US. Japan was a planned upgrade from the ground up forced by MacArthur during occupation. We'd taken over and occupied the country and a bunch of people wondered what sort of infrastructure we could build if the population didn't get a say. We wanted to know how we could make the US better with a proof of concept. Japan got the best rail system in the world at the time. Japan got nuclear power before almost anyone. Their road system was built based on our Interstate structure but better since we didn't have to worry about landowners and states complaining. We reorganized their entire city system into the district system it uses today. Their agriculture system was reorganized by us into districts as well. Japan was upset at first, but we were footing the bill and put the entire country to work right after a war that devastated the country. Didn't hurt that what we were building there exceeded what we or anyone else had in terms of quality for infrastructure. Over the course of a decade suddenly Japan had the best railway system in the world, the best road system in the world, the best power grid in the world, and mapped planned cities that allowed them to grow into what they are today instead of organic messes. The plan was to take what we learned in Japan for what did and didn't work and recreate it here on a larger scale. But it never came to pass. The fractured state of American politics kept any of it from ever happening. Pieces of it ended up in America, but usually a horrible version compared to what Japan got. The rebuilding of Japan was a one time thing in history. Never before or since have so many resources been spent on a conquered country in such amounts or with so much care. We talked about doing it elsewhere briefly. Rebuilding South Korea on the Japanese Model after the war, but by then the Cold War was in full swing and we were spending money like water on that. If the Cold War had never expanded into what it did there is a version of history with the US going on a spree of building countries from scratch.
The reason he most likely started off after ww2 is because america exploded in power and influence after the war has ended. Before it was just wanted to be alone by itself. Modern day america gained it's influence from the war I'd like to think
I feel like before that america it's self didn't really have that big of an influence yet. I believe it maybe more eof the uk at the time. I could be wrong
@K.K.Kz.z z.z.z.z LOL...USA zero in both World Wars...you will not find any historians agreeing with you...not any sane ones. You are going to have to make a cogent, understandable point, or I cannot figure out how to prove you wrong. 💯🖖
@K.K.Kz.z z.z.z.z Many historians agree that if America had stayed entirely out of World War I, not even sold supplies to Britain and France, that Germany more than likely wins the war. If that happens, history goes in a very different direction, in all likelihood. As for World War II, with zero American participation, Britain would have been forced to negotiate peace with Germany. The Soviets did not need the USA to stop the Nazis in 1941, but they sure needed the USA's production to push the Nazis back, and they needed Britain to keep the Nazis away from the oil in the Middle East. And with no USA, Japan has no real opponent in the Pacific...Russia cannot focus on Japan if Germany is still on Soviet soil...which they would be since there is no USA. The joke is that you are so vehemently denying reality.
He was simply saying that a unified communist Korea would likely be more prosperous than North Korea is today but would likely be less prosperous than South Korea.
Yup. Japan probably would've stayed isolationist for far longer. As it was American traders that showed up and, in a rough generalization, forced Japan to trade with the world.
To answer your question at the end of the video it has to do with the fact that America had never become so involved and had never invested so much in resources, firepower and manpower before. In essence America had never before agreed to fight...Fully committed.
To add to narrative, before WW2 America was only an average country that just happened to have a lot land, still in the grips of the great depression, extremely isolationist, if Adolf Hitler had not declared war on America President Roosevelt would have had a very hard time convincing congress to enter the European part war, the Pacific was now our war. Up to this point Germany really had not done (except for sinking a few Freighters, which could be explained away), enough to America to warrant total war. At the start of the war America only had the 17th largest Army, Romania had a larger Army. It was only after WW2 that America really took off.
The problem I have with this video is that in the scenario they give, they acknowledge that the U.S. still exists, we just never dropped our isolationist policies (which is probably why they chose to start at WW2), however the examples they give seem to imply that the U.S. doesn't exist at all so the video contradicts itself a bit. It further contradicts itself by saying that Germany would have control over most of Europe after WW2, then goes on to talk about the European Union not existing... well no, of course it wouldn't exist if Germany controlled most of Europe. It's like they are taking you through a timeline of events, but treating each event as a separate instance of America not existing, but everything else was normal.. lots of issues with this video lol
The map in the original video incorrectly shows Denmark being part of the Warsaw Pact. Denmark was a founding member of NATO in 1949. The eastern Danish island of Bornholm was occupied by Soviet troops from May 1945 to April 1946.
You’re a good thinker, think about what the world would look like if America had not help rebuild Europe. You question why The author of the video didn’t begin before World War II. Well in my opinion before World War II the US was still in its growing stages and mostly just wanted to be left out of the world issues, except for those in the Pacific of course, because we were afraid of losing Hawaii. Japan brought us into the war as a nation. We were helping England with supplies and some military advisors, pilots, and security troops and supplies, but it was the Germany’s unrestricted sinking of ships in the Atlantic and the German advancements into Africa that were the true last straw. I enjoy your videos I hope your channel will grow.

Alternate history can be fun, but you need plausible scenarios to make it any good. Infographics does not even bother to describe how this alternate history plays out, but just chooses WW2 with no USA as starting point. If there is no USA, then the Germans probably win World War I...so it is important to know if there was a USA for that war and it disappeared after. In reality, if the USA did not come into being in the late 1700s as it did, it would almost certainly have come into being in some form at some later time. 💯 But as for World War 2, Infographics is pretty much correct that the best the USSR and Britain could expect was probably a stalemate. At the very least, the war would have dragged on for many many more years and killed many many more millions. Japan could be the big winner with no USA, though again, it kind of depends on the alternate history that actually unfolds. With no USA, Japan would have needed to buy oil from someone else...unless the oil fields of Texas still get discovered and developed by whoever owns that territory in the alternate timeline.🖖✌
The United States was the first modern republic, without that republic the world would surely continue to live under authoritarian imperial political systems. America is not perfect but it is a great country. The history and influence of the United States is so long that it is difficult to summarize it in such a short time.
