Howard Scholars Jeff Shanks, Patrice Louinet and Chris Gruber talk about Howard's Boxing stories and his main boxing character, Steve Costigan. Had some card issues the first minute so it starts about a minute into the panel. But basically all you miss are the introductions.

Taking inspiration from this as I use a heavy bag for the first (real intentional) time. This and a video on historical boxing training methods, using very light dumbbells and fast dynamic movements, from another channel called Physical Culture Historians. Great resource for anyone seeking more data on the context of Howard's time and place.

The sailor Steve Costigan uses an original martial art probably inspired by boxing, savate, wrestling and street fighting.
