You could take the file to a local printer with your paper of choice. Have them print a few :) You could try home printing but using a thinner weight watercolor paper like Legion Stonehenge is ideal. Or you could print on text weight paper and put up to a sunny window or on a light box and trace. Again lighter weight watercolor paper here would be ideal :)
@@KristyRice I am painting with Legion Stonehenge right now working on painting my Sally Holmes rose, and I bought some other cheaper papers you recommended like GenCrafts and Academy just for practice but if one happens to turn out it’s still nice enough to frame. Oh yes! And you reminded me what a local teacher does, she traces the printed sheet with a piece of carbon paper onto the canvas-it might work with watercolor paper too if one doesn’t press too hard, maybe!
I found out Fabriano paper ( from the Italian city, Fabriano, famous for paper ), 640 gr. It’s thick and it doesn’t let puddles to come ! I recommend you all!
Oh my goodness I'm already such a fan of the fabriano artistico extra white hot press because I work in pencil for the most part that I would just kill to get a link to this paper please 🙏.
That's cool Kristy. I love when this sort of thing happens. You come back to something from the past with a new perspective 😻! It seems you are always exploring and growing in your outlook and joy of painting and I think that is how we should try to be. We never stop learning ❤️. TY for the video it was a pleasant surprise. About Swatching: I feel that swatching any medium is just for a basic reference; every brand of paper is going to react different, even if it's the same "class" of paper (different brands of cold press, different brands of mixed media, different brands of marker paper, ect). The hue between each type and brand is different and will also make your medium appear different as well. Always do some practice on some of your final paper to see how it's going to react, and enjoy the process!❤🫶🏻 You'll always be learning something new to add as a feather in your glorious, majestic, artistic hat!
Awww crud!! I was in that shop last April and did not buy anything but paper either because I wasn't sure about quality. When I go back, I am DEFINITELY getting that palette!!
OOOOOOHHH, I actually love the Zecchi watercolors! I get mine from Choosing Keeping (a tiny little small business in London that for some reason can manage to get my orders to me in fie US in four days when the Amazon warehouse two cities over can't manage it in two weeks, even with Prime🤬🤬🤬🤬). They have a GORGEOUS Lapis Lazuli that is so pigmented and has such amazing tonal value!
Choosing Keeping ships to the US??? OMG I have been so sad that I can’t go there for SO LONG. I am overwhelmed at the idea of even looking (although still so sad I can’t go in person). Anything I should look out for when ordering internationally, if you don’t mind sharing?
@cellosubmarine OMG YES! They ship to the US and the shipping is actually very reasonable. My package arrived in about a week and it was SO beautifully packaged! They use that expensive Italian marbled paper to wrap everything in. With ribbons and those iridescent bird stickers that is their logo. Nothing comes to mind as far as anything to look out for. Like I said, shipping was very reasonable and I got my package in a week! However! I live in CT which is only about an hour and a half from JFK Airport (the airport that anything shipped from England would land in). I don't know if it would take a lot longer going to a further state. It would have actually come sooner, but I ordered late Friday afternoon so it didn't start to get worked on til Monday.
You saying you have ADHD brought me so much joy, I’ve been watching your videos for a short while now and I had a feeling you might have it. It’s funny how I end up enjoying the content of other neurodivergent people the most even without knowing they have e.g ADHD like in your case. Happiness is all the colours and hues under the sun painted on a paper 🩷💛❤️🧡💚🩵💙💜😁
Random question not related to this video, how do you get your paintings back without damage when you’re hiking? I’m watching your shorts of the beautiful landscape in Utah.
Hot press is super smooth (almost like someone ran over it with a hot iron) and cold press is textured, has little bumps in the paper. There is also a third category called rough which is even more bumpy. Absolutely LOVE cold and rough. ❤❤❤

Very nice but I would never take a membership on patreon it is too expensive I live in Europe the utensils are not availible or just to expensive on US Amazon and I have to pay taxes for everything that I buy . Ooh, ooh! We were in Florence a few months ago and we visited this very shop! It was fun. We got supplies for Younger Grandson. I couldn’t justify any paint because I’ve lost my painting mojo, but maybe I should have jump-started myself with paint. Too late, but I have a ton, by my standards, of paint. Anyway, these colors are so vibrant - I got lost in color! Thanks!

Kristy: what kind of printer do you run your cold press watercolor paper though?! 9:53
Well mine is a very large production printer from xerox… I recommend trying legion Stonehenge cold press for at home printing
You would need to use a laser printer, not inkjet as the ink would run when you paint over it.
Thank you both! I have a Epson printer that uses sublimation ink... That will probably smear, right?
