Man that it so interesting! I love the way you explain things by breaking it down to the most simple and effective technique. It's the sign of a great teacher.

Interesting but if you listen to interviews of the voice actor they hired to do the original sound, he is doing strictly a uvula vibration without any clicking from the vocal folds. They sound design his voice a lot so that it resembles the sound you are doing but the original sound is uvula vibration.

Yes, you are right but that's the only way I can do it on exhale.
If someone can use the airflow directed towards the uvula, instead of the vocal fry, the exercises will still work. :)

@@sibilaextremevocal And don’t get me wrong, the sound you are doing is beautiful. 🤗 Also, it is possible to obtain the same effect on the inhale.

I think I got you just right but I can't blame you for it because you don't know me and my work, apparently. That's why I will write a few things to make something very clear (it doesn't directly relate to your comment) :)
There are multiple ways of achieving a similar sound, and as a voice actor, you probably know it. Also, it's not "a cover of Peter Cullen sound" but a way of "how to sound like the predator in case if more popular videos didn't work for you".
And again, if someone is able to use only airflow directed towards the uvula, it will result in the exact way how the noise is produced by the original actor, both on exhale and inhale, as it's described in other videos dedicated to this topic, even by Peter Cullen himself.
But what can I know if I spend "only" 50-70 hours every week since many years on (and I don't mean UA-cam because that's maybe 5-10% of my overall vocal activity):
      1. Educating my self about vocals (studying and practicing along various coursebooks, taking singing lessons, consulting with phoniatrists, physiotherapists, professional singers and teachers, soon I will start a singing course in the largest European singing institute),
      2. Teaching both singing and screaming to hundreds of people (over 500) from all around the world (the first "official lesson" took place in November 2015, online since 2018), including beginners (even children), advanced singers, singing teachers (some of them have own singing schools), extreme vocalists that regularly play gigs, record songs with their bands, some of them are active since 90's or early 00's. Each of my students who implements my advices, exercises etc., in a proper way, notices a significant progress in terms of their comfort, quality of the sounds they produce or developing new skills, and none of them suffered from problems with their voice. I can easily prove it because I gather recordings etc.
Also, each student is different and requires a different approach - some of them will need (and want) anatomical and technical information, some will rather want to focus on various sensations that don't need to make sense from the anatomical point of view (synesthesia) but help them to achieve a proper sound (good quality, high level of comfort), some will need visualisations, some will need more details and some very little, some will need to hear an example and some will be able to follow the instructions without any examples - there are a lot of possibilities and the job of the teacher is to adjust to the needs of the student, because that's the only way to help the student get their desired results in a healthy way.
I could go on with other topics like the impact of the acid reflux, allergies, taking various types of meds, sleep deprivation, stress, traumas, bruxism and other types of constrictions in the body, fitness, ad.dictions, stress, postural defects, dep, ression, anxiety, perfectionism, habits learned during upbringing (e.g. parents telling the kid to "stay quiet, be polite" which suppresses the voice) and their impact on singing and screaming, but what do I know?
      3. Creating new exercises, testing them and perfecting them with my students,
      4. Creating vocal courses, writing ebooks that were consulted with professional physiotherapists, phoniatrists (who also do vocals), singing teachers and pro singers,
      5. Recording vocals (over 130 songs in various styles of extreme music, not counting covers, only original releases), performing gigs,
      6. Leading group vocal workshops around the Poland (e.g. last Saturday) - for instance I received a feedback like this: "I wouldn't imagine that making such sounds can be so comfortable", from a person who is a screamer since 2008 (4-5 years longer than me),
      7. Playing gigs with my band (and it's not a problem for me to do a few online lessons and then hit the stage and nail the show, even when I'm sick, without having any problems with the voice).
I'm a vocal freak and my current life is something I've been working on every day since 2012, and I'm not afraid of investing loads of time and money, and energy in my further developement because I treat it very seriously - it's about the time, money, well-being and progress of all of the people that put trust in me and my services.
I don't think you will read even 50% of what I wrote but I wanted to make something as transparent as possible, and of course you don't have to believe it but it can be easily proven.
      Best regards

@@sibilaextremevocal First of all, I have absolutely no clue why my comment triggered you into writing your professional biography. I only commented on the uvula vibration and that I actually liked the sound you were doing. That’s it!
And yes, I don’t know the extent of your work but again I don’t think my comment needed such a reply.
And I did read the whole thing. So why would you assume that I would not?
Anyway, congratulations on your achievements, you seem dedicated to the craft.

You have a very good fry clicks, I can hardly do vocal fry, any tips?

    • @sibilaextremevocal
      @sibilaextremevocal  2 місяці тому +1

The most important thing is to be relaxed, and let the air out very slowly or produce an extremely lazy, purring sound (vocal folds have to vibrate very slow, the slower the vibrations are, the more "clicky" the sound becomes). Usually it's easier when people imagine that they are tired, sleepy or they just woke up and they make a sound.
