One thing I’ve tried and it worked really well was getting a pack of the waterproof gazebo wind panels and using them on the sides of the tent for extra water resistance. It worked like an absolute charm. Those plus the rain fly kept the tent fully dry and comfortable both in winter and summer rains
Nice review of this tent! I have had the T4 Overland Edition (orange) and a Gazebo G6 (original version) for two years. After our first rain experience, I got Kiwi Camp Dry spray and sprayed both the tent and gazebo all over (used like 6 cans) and then the carry bags as well. This made all the difference in the rain protection and no longer have water issues.
As an owner, 100% valid. My only addition is we prefer to run the front room floorless and just use as a pure screen room. Save the extra floor for when the main room floor goes.
I’m gonna have to pitch my old tent that we used for changing. This is exactly what I’ve been looking at and the set up time will be drastically cut down. These are awesome
Those 7 loops also let you roll up the sides of the rain fly similar to the front door panels over the mesh, there are little bits underneath to loop into them. I've had the T4 plus for 3 years and just discovered this.
Really good honest review. We have a T-4 and the older design T-4 Plus. They addressed some of my concerns with this new T-4Plus like making the fly on the sides larger but stopped short of enlarging on the ends. I like the changes inside the screen room by moving the screen covers to the outside for better rain protection. We haven't had a problem with bleed through with ours but a friend has had some on his T-4. I don't need another Gazelle, but I am in love with this color and the changes are making me want to buy this one!!!
I have the T4 and it's the best tent I have ever owned and that's saying something because I have had some nice Eureka's. So easy to set up and spacious. My wife and I use a nice baffled queen sized air bed and it is more comfortable that the king we have at home. We just air down the bed and have full use of the space. I would have preferred the overlanding edition but they are rare has hens teeth right now but the stock version has severed us well so far. Thanks for the review.
I’ve had the T3 for years and finally decided to get the T4. I’ve been blasted by downpours and dry as a bone although I’ve yet to treat it. I’ve been very impressed with the quality and performance.
I have a T3X cause I throw that big boy in a small ‘05 LJ unlimited Rubi. That size just fits. For rain I guy out the side more with some groundhog stakes. That helps a whole lot.
I sure and extra tarp would work well for the bleed threw. Just hook it to the top and stake it to the ground, the extra tie downs on top is perfect for that. Great video
I don't think what you call "bleed through" is actual rain passing through the tent wall. I would be more likely to believe that it was condensation due to the warm inside and colder outside causing this condensation on the inside of the wall and not rain bleeding through. JMHO
I lost my tent over the weekend due to collapse because of the snow as a mom who takes my kiddos camping solo in all weather really looking into this tent!
I don't think I would like a longer rainfly due to air flow restriction. This is one of the reason's I decided on the Gazelle is the rainfly doesn't extend the below the windows / length of sides, thus allowing for air flow into the tent in 3 seasons.
I have always wondered about this tent and thanks to you I have all my questions answered .I have a roof top tent but like a stationary tent for the same reasons you use yours for. It is amazing how fast it goes up,which is a plus as you stated for the rain. For-me personally the speed is not important . I am just happy to be camping. I also liked your install of the switches .I have had one sitting in the back seat of my gladiator and was deciding if I was going to attack the project, you made the decision easy for me and thanks for that. I was wondering if in Kellie’s tent if there is room for his hood monkey . Great video
We have a t4plus overland edition as well and I have the same agreement about the rainfly on the edges. I did end staking out the ends further out instead of attaching it directly to the tent and that seems to help at least a little.
One of the things that drew us to the T4 plus is the big door on the front. Much easier to navigate than the standard T4 for us. Thanks for watching - Kelly
Thanks for the video. I usually camp solo with my four wheel camper on my chevy. Recently got a tacoma and looking to go the t4x or t3x options with the Gazelle. Do those hold up well in winter as well running a little heater in there?
Great video. I have the T3 and used it extensively for camping at the motocross track with my young family. I just received this tent, the T4 plus overland and looking forward to using the front part as a small “garage” for my sons’ MX bikes (electric Husky). The only issue I had with the flooring is that if you take it apart from the Velcro, the next time you reinstall the flooring to the Velcro, it won’t be totally flush as when you first buy it. I would have bugs come in through those unvelcro’d channels. Otherwise, love all these tents.
Can you spray on water repellent on the fabric to make it more waterproof? I'm on the fence between the Gazelle and the North Face Wawona 6. The Gazelle looks stronger but the North Face looks better at keeping you dry. The Gazelle has more windows, and fast install makes camping a lot more fun
Good review. I think what you view as bleedn through is actually condensation. One way to find out is to set it up under a full tarp or under a carport in cold weather. My guess is, it will still bead water. Most synthetic tents suffer from this. However, your more traditional synthetic tents rainflys come all the way down and condensation accumulates on the fly and simply runs down and drips to the outside. I have a 4 man Alps and have seen it soaked with condensation, water running down the sides, yet have never had one drop enter the tent. However, these tents tend to have netting from the top down to a couple feet or so from the bottom, allowing all condensate to accumulate on the fly. I am seriously interested in this tent but the water issue has me concerned. That being said, I wonder if running a diesel parking heater outside, where the tent is warmed evenly and throughouly, yet does not introduce excess water might help resolve the issue or at least not introduce so much water into the tent. That is the biggest issue with running propane in a tent....water. Great Review, I love this tent.
We have been using a T4 for a couple of years camping out of our 2dr JK. We love the T4. One negative is how large the stowed tent is. I bet that the addition just adds twice as much for storage. Thanks for the great video. One final note, if there are high winds the hubs will push in, if not tied down.. don't ask us how we know. Haha 🤣🤣
Strange that you had water blead through. I have one and it's been in some nasty storms, like raining sideways and it's always dry inside. Never had water ingress. Also, it's a good idea to always to guy wire the side panels. If you get a strong wind, the hubs will pop inward and can hit you pretty hard.
Review is better than the Gazelle video. They need a better color. The choices are psychotic orange or heat absorbing dark green. I have the big gazebo and the Tan color is very nice.
Two issues I’m wondering if you can answer. 1-the Velcro areas that wrap around the poles how do you feel about insects getting in, is there a lot of open area for that? 2- wind, I understand strapping down the sides but what about the top, is it possible for there to be enough wind to push on the top of the tent?
I have a T3x and it was used everyday for 30 days while overlanding in Colorado and Utah this past Sept/October. It was a very worthwhile investment and it was just my dog and I so we had plenty of room. However, some downsides were the nearly useless stakes, and as you pointed out, it would be nice to have a larger rain fly as an option. Also, in very heavy winds, such as during a thunderstorm that came through outside Moab, the side of the tent actually caved in, on two sides, and I had to pop those sides out before the whole thing collapsed. Fortunately it didn't show any signs of permanent damage. Its not meant to be a 4 season, "all weather" tent but its great for its ease of setup and take down. There have been no leaks or internal condensation either.
You really have to guy these pop-out tents in heavy wind. Also the peak of the roof can be supported with a pole, at least. that s how it is with Clam. But very good when staked out.
Looking to pick up a T4 or T4 Plus soon, possibly TODAY for black friday, haha. Just getting back into camping after 15 years away though...Have you found any issue with finding a place to setup? Or how it handles on uneven terrain?
Here’s something else… I see y’all had other gladiators and wranglers, some with roof top tents. Even though it’s much bigger… couod this be… maybe… a better base camp option to stake and go and come back to???
You should stake out the back of the rain fly. Idk why it has a little elastic hook but it acts like a funnel straight to the grommet that passes through to inside of the tents. I love my T4+ OE and sold my Roof Top Tent because this was so much easier and bigger.
Great review! We picked up a T4 Overland this winter but have yet to take it out. Water could be an issue up here in the pacific northwest. How do you plan to address the water bleed?
I'm not sure what the solution is going to be. If I come up with anything that works well we'll put that info out. To be fair to Gazelle it's a common issue that can happen with any single wall section of tent exposed to rain in specific conditions, not just theirs. Thanks for watching and hope you enjoy that tent! - Kelly
I’m returning my new t4 because triangular doors keep tripping people & dogs. Loved the materials. Does t4+ do away with the poorly designed entrances?
The doors are necessary that way because of the pop up construction, no other way to put the doors. Personally I think is a small price to pay, if my 16 year old dog can manage I’d assume so can yours, it only took a couple of times.
How do you keep the cold draft from coming in from the mesh skylight? it did not hold in the heat whatsoever from our Mr Buddy heater. I understand heat loss is going to happen but damn all that heat just rise up out the mesh top skylight leaving us cold at night. With the rain fly. Wish gazelle make an optional cover for the mesh sjylight inside.

Great informational video. Question about the single wall bleed through concern…. Do you think applying something like the 303 Fabric Guard or some other hydrophobic spray would help eliminate the bleed through?

Can somebody please tell me the maximum length of a cot that would fit in this tent, laying in the same direction as the bed in this video? I just want to make sure that my 84 in (7foot) cot will fit in here. TIA
Thank you so much I kind of thought it would but somebody was hell bent on telling me it would not I think they may have wanted to place their cot facing out towards the screen room versus against the back wall. I don't care where mine goes as long as it fits!
To claim to know so much about gazelle tents, he is dead wrong about the seven tiedowns on the side… those are not tiedowns at all! Those are for rolling those flaps up on each side so that you don’t have to tie them down to the ground and you have an option to tie them up out of the way if you don’t want the flaps all the way down on the sides. To tie anything to those seven loops that he called tiedowns would probably rip right out of the fabric of the tent because they’re not made to hold the weight or stress points of the tent in wind. They are made to hold the rain fly up on each side whenever you choose to roll it up!!!

Its not a 4 season tent. You might look at Kodiak Canvas tents for that type of camping, much heavier but will last through just about any weather.
Can somebody please tell me the maximum length of a cot that would fit in this tent, laying in the same direction as the bed in this video? I just want to make sure that my 84 in (7foot) cot will fit in here. TIA
You 7 foot cot would work fine. The T4 has an 8x8 foot print and T4plus have 8x16
Thanks for your input.
rain.??? what a dissapointment !!! 👎👎
Yes, it was not horrible but it did leak some.
Mine has never leaked, not treated and under some severe downpours. Just saying.
YOU WOULD 🤔 THINK THE T4+ OVERLAND TAKING AWAY XTRA HANDLE WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE ENOUGH TO FILL THAT SPACE WITH THRU WHEELS MADE FOR OVER LANDSCAPE TRAVEL and Switch out wheels for small skis in winter remove floor ya got ice fishing camp castle GLAMPING
Wheels would be nice. It is a little heavy
