- Hey guys! So, I hope this video is informative enough for you. I've consistently been having issues with my internet not wanting to connect to my PS4 console. I've heard this was a large problem when it comes to Xfinity (Comcast) internet. Well, I bought this product after a recommendation of a Comcast employee. The product is called an Ethernet Over Power. I bought the Powerline 2000 adapter.
here is the definition of POE due to people saying I'm "dead wrong" on how I explained how it works.
(Power over Ethernet or PoE describes any of several standard or ad hoc systems which pass electric power along with data on twisted pair Ethernet cabling. This allows a single cable to provide both data connection and electric power to devices such as wireless access points, IP cameras, and VoIP phones.)

You think this will work , so I have my ps4 on my living room and I play wired I get around 600mbs down and 100mbs up but lan cable sometimes get on the way and I want to play on peace. By that i mean move my ps4 to my room but when I try Wi-Fi my ps4 just disconnects from the wifi while I'm in a middle of a match and I tried alot ways to fix this but no fix please reply :(
I believe this will help. As you said no router to ps4 connection, so it won't get in the way. Wifi usually isn't that good in general, so you cannot go wrong with this device 💯💪
@@D3ityCthulhu thanks man you gained a sub and by the way I mean like Ethernet cable bothers my people because they trip over it lol .
You'll still need a ethernet cable between the wall adapter and the ps4, but with this you be able to make it alot cleaner.
Another suggestion if you're having issues with the ethernet cable, is to measure the length from the nearest outlet to the back of your ps4. You can then purchase a ethernet cable that's the perfect length so you won't have that extra slack that causes people to trip lol.
Also if you have more questions, feel free to reach out on Twitter OR Instagram. D3ityC
@@D3ityCthulhu bet and thanks man you da goat .
lets gooo, i can finally move my set up to my room instead of playing in the living room near the router. thanks a bunch
You're very welcome. Enjoy!
@sione k how did it work bro worth using?
Thx 🙏 so much, the call duty update would take me like 6 to 7 hours because of my slow Internet. Thanks so much. Live saver getting it immediately. I subbed to you btw. Much 💗 love
Thank you 😊 nothing but love.
Bro u saved my gaming experience thank you so much
Glad to be helpful
this prob may be a good look for the living room tv streams 🔥
Absolutely man! You can't go wrong here.
As of the time you reply to this message, have you noticed any problems with the adapters? Like overheating or disconnecting?
No and no. The only time I've ever disconnected is from my WiFi overall cutting out, and not due to the adapter. So I've overall had 0 adapter issues!
your my life safer bro thank you soooo much i got a monitor for my bday dindt get any internet now i do. 6 ping in almost al of my games thx bro
Happy Birthday my friend! Cheers 😊
omg this is awesome!
I agree. I still use it to this day :)
Yo thank you so much for this my friends made fun of me for having the worst internet because I always lagged out of games and party’s
You're welcome 😊
So I plugged both adapters in,ones in my wall near my modem/router and the other is in a wall near my Xbox, they are both connected and in the right Ethernet spots, but when I plug it In my router/modem, the WiFi itself plays up, disconnects everyone wirelessly and cant find my IP ether. The moment I unplug tho everything's back to normal. Idk what to do, so if you could throw some ideas, solutions or even theory's of what you think is going on that would be much appreciated thnx :)
You could have a defective product. Personally I would recommend informing whomever you purchased it from, the issues you're having.
Definitely doesn't sound normal to have this issue.
My internet i pay for is 50 down and 10 up is there any point in buying this 1200 adapter or should i go a lower mbps adapter
Lower mbps. This device will not allow you to surpass your internet cap unfortunately.
So Im in the process of turning the storage unit that I rent into mancave. I have everything I need in there. Couch, lazy boy, space heater, flat screen, xbox, microwave, mini fridge, etc. Only thing im missing is the internet because it doesnt have any coaxial or ethernet outlets. I want to get the spectrum internet service so will this be a good fit for me?
You need a ethernet outlet. In order for this device to properly function there must be two ethernet connections. A) from one box to your router/modem, and B) from the other box to your device of choice.
@@D3ityCthulhu So i DO need an ethernet outlet connected to the wall?
@@jaybreezy9927 as mentioned per the video, yessir. You might want to try a Wi-Fi extender for your predicament.
Will this help because I've two Playstations one is downstairs and mimes is upstairs the routers is downstairs next to the other Playstation I can sometimes get through games but more times than not my wifi starts acting up I can download stuff ok
It definitely should make a difference
You are all blessed 😇 I’m playing with 6 sometimes 5 mbps up ⬆️ 560 kbps down
Jeez man. I'm sorry to hear that :(
I hope your internet can get better over time.
Hey bro right now I have the xfinity xfi 1gb router my ping is about 14ms on the speed tester my router isn't far but it's not that close but I'm a professional gamer so I need the best I can get and my house is relatively new so I'm not worried about wiring but I was looking into the 2gb netgear powerline adapter when it says 2gb is that the maximum it can go or does it depend on the max your router can go?
Depends on the max you router can go from my experience.
@@D3ityCthulhu so I'm better of with the 1gb version but does it actually go the correct amount I'm only connecting it to 1 device so should I see 1gb exactly or less
@@Ok-uq2ng unfortunately I'm not an expert on this device. I would recommend asking a tech associate at a local store ie. Best Buy for further questions. I apologize for not being able to help further.
@@D3ityCthulhu it's fine the video helped me enough
Thanks you helped my a lot
You're very welcome. I never even knew of this device until a Comcast employee told me about it over the phone. Needless to say it's a complete game changer! I've had zero lag, and the best online connection I've ever had.
I hope this device also helps you out.
Thx dude my ps5 internet is much better now
You're welcome 😊
@@D3ityCthulhu one question when I order a powerline adapter it comes with 2 right? One to plug in to the router with a eternet cord then my PlayStation with a eternet cord
@@Young_matt_teen correct good Sir.
This video is getting great review’s ima try it and hope it works
Best of luck :)
I hope youre still replying. So i just got this extender today and im trying to connect it to my ps4. I was trying the automatic connection but that wont work. Do i need to know my ip address and other info to connect it? Because right now whenever i try the Lan connection its always fails to obtain the ip address. this video is the closest i can get to finding how to set it up on a ps4
There's something wrong if it's not automatically connecting via Lan. A power over ethernet device is not to be confused with a Wi-Fi extender. For this device to work you have to have one end plugged into the wall (near your router) and have a ethernet cord going from the device to the router. Next you need to have the 2nd device plugged into the wall near your console/pc you plan on using this on, and have an ethernet cord going from the 2nd device to said console/pc. Check the lights and makes sure they're all green on both ends. Go onto your PS4 and go into "set up internet connection" and use LAN connection and it should automatically connect.
Try this video as well. ua-cam.com/video/TwPktKgZ5dE/v-deo.html
If that doesn't work you might have received a defective product.
do they come with two wall adapters or do i buy two separately?
It comes as a set of 2.
Is it possible when i put the 1st adapter next to my router. I can put the 2nd adapter far away from it? (From living room to attic ) Would i still get stable connection? like that
Absolutely. What you're aiming for is the two selected outlets being on the same circuit.
They don't have to be, but it makes a difference for stability purposes.
@@D3ityCthulhu That's great to hear, thank You
Work for pc ? And do you get better ping than wireless
It works for PC, and consoles. And absolutely better ping!
Can I use the netgear box without it connected to a router ? And just the ps4
This specific device has to be connected to the router, and the device you plan to use it for (ie your PS4).
Hey so I’m getting lag on my Xbox and I wanted to know why there are two pieces of that and if it will help. Also, what is the difference between the 1000 and 2000?
The 1000 refers to support of 1000 mps = 1 gigabit speed. The 2000 refers to support of 2000 mps = 2 gigabit speed.
You'll be perfectly fine with the 1000. There are 2 pieces because one has to be plugged into the outlet by your modem then connected with a ethernet cord, then the other one in the outlet of your console with a ethernet cord. It's sending the wireless signal through the outlets as lan essentially :). I hope this helps you!
D3ityCthulhu so the 2000 will give me better and faster internet ?
@@haikmelkonyan9115 it runs of what internet you physically have. What I was listing was the limitations of each model.
So I have gigabit internet which is 1 Gig down, 45mbps up. The 1000 model supports up to 1 gig download which is perfect. Nobody really needs the 2000 because nobody to my knowledge get over 1 gig download speed.
Regardless this device will more than likely resolve your lag issue, because it runs much better then wireless connection.
D3ityCthulhu thank you so much for your help. So, I put one of them next to my WiFi and connect them with Ethernet cable. I put the other one next to my Xbox and connect both of them with ethernet cable and I’m good to go?
Yes Sir! You then go on your Xbox and select LAN as your interent connection and presto, mission complete.
For some reason they’re all green on the one connected to the Wi-Fi box. But the middle light on the one plugged into my system is red. 🤦🏾♂️
I just saw this comment for some reason, I apologize.
This video will go into detail on how to setup your powerline adapter. It's a relatively simple process, however issues can arise during setup.
ua-cam.com/video/YQ5HNlp_Cvg/v-deo.html
Will it work if I connect one adapter with router wirelessly but connect other one with laptop wired?
No. This is not in any way a WiFi extender, so it requires you to run all connections to and from it wired.
Do I need an additional Ethernet cable to plug the adapter into my Xbox? I just watched this and got hope as a fighting game player
Yes. 2 ethernet cables, 1 for each adapter.
@@D3ityCthulhu thank you I just got two with adapter. Appreciate the help hopefully this fixes my connection
@kazeshini7286 fingers crossed for you. Cheers!
1:12 I did what you told me but it’s not working. It’s telling me that the wired connection is there but it also says “NAT type: unavailable”. It also says “service info unavailable”
I believe this person's video would be helpful in this situation seeing it's more of a tutorial.
ua-cam.com/video/xIWHn4bWtYg/v-deo.html
If you cannot get it to work after watching this either 1) your product is bad or 2) your router is having a hard time recognizing the powerline adapter for an unknown reason.
@@D3ityCthulhu nvm it worked
@@ElijahVictorian glad to hear! Merry Christmas 😁
Dose the bottom light on both of your adapters light up?
They should light up green.
Do you have to plug it into the wall for it to work?
Yes. That's the power supply for this device. Both sides need to be plugged into the wall 1) near the router/modem 2) near the device you want to run Lan to.
Will this work, my internet box is in my living room and my setup is in my room. Also do I need a Ethernet cable?
Since there are two ends, yes it will work as you will put one end where the living room is and the other where your gaming setup is.
No you do not need to run a Ethernet cable, it's just there as an additional option depending on the person's situation.
@@D3ityCthulhu thank you so much, this video helped by showing me how to get better connection speed
@@cscfleek2983 you're welcome. Thank you for the kind words 😊
@@D3ityCthulhu I have another question, my download speed is about 4.0-6.0 mbps will still go up by a lot?. It’s because I don’t have a good internet plan
This device will not increase what you don't have.
It's ideally for people with homes that have layouts of any kind that interfere with natural wifi signal being evenly dispersed throughout the home. This is not a device that will increase already low wifi speeds from your provider, you would have to pair this with a better plan with your service provider.
What is the plug for?? On the front device when you put the device on the outlet walls. What is the other lan port for
The plug allows the device to still act like an outlet. The other lan port is if you by chance have more than 1 device you want to hard wire, you can choose to do so.
Will this help even if u have a normal regular ps4 not the skin or pro
If it has a ethernet port, then yes. That's all that matters.
Does this work if you plug it into a power outlet?
That's what I have it plugged into. It's meant to go directly into the outlet 😊
D3ityCthulhu my bad my dumb ass meant a power strip
Juss_sus nah it works way better into the wall
Does it matter if I have a CenturyLink modem?
Your modem shouldn't matter with this device. As long as you have fully functional ethernet ports, then you're good to go my friend.
Can I use a net gear router on my Xbox ?
It works with any router.
so when I play on my Xbox or ps4.. I usually disconnected from the WiFi ALOT.. do you think this should help it?
Absolutely. I had the exact same issue due to my house being made of old fashioned brick (which blocks wifi signal).
Running this is equal to running LAN straight from the router. This has eliminated all issues I've ever had.
D3ityCthulhu I’ve got brick walls too! lol thank you so much. I’m about to buy them right now.
D3ityCthulhu would you suggest the Netgear brand or the TP link brand? I wanna make sure it actually works.
@@dstn3973 I personally use Netgear. It's the more "old reliable" brand, which you can't ever go wrong with.
D3ityCthulhu thank you so much, I live in an old style house with brick walls too so I’m having the same exact problem you were.. and is everything still working perfect 7 months later?
Is this equivalent to a wired connection
Not necessarily, nothing beats wired connection over being wired.
My ping is 20 some times but goes to 200 and goes to 20 and its anoying and this vid helped
I'm glad to hear that! Game on :)
Does the box come with two?
Yes. It requires both ends to function properly.
Does this help with lag? Cause I play fighting games and can’t be dealing with lag
Going from wireless to wired is always a huge step in the right direction. I can't guarantee reduced lag without knowing the quality of your internet, however I will say it's highly probable that it will help 😁
D3ityCthulhu my internet pulls somewhere between 3-10 mbps download speed and varies a bit but I hope this reduces the lag to high standard quality because I lag a good bit in games unless it’s private matches with a friend or something then it’s not as bad
@@lukedelcube7175 I will keep my fingers crossed that this is a permanent solution to your lagging problem.
D3ityCthulhu thanks man appreciate it
I have wireless and i have 20-30 ping but i have some drops to 300-1000 and packet loss so i bought that and i hope that make my ping lower

The thing is my router is on the first floor and I’m the second floor so I’m confused 🤷🏻♂️ I need my console to have wired connection
You could still give this a try. Originally when using this my router was on the other side of the house. Worse case scenario? You end up having to return it.
Ok thank you 👌🏼
I got one yesterday and did a test that night. Wi Fi was around about 3.5 Up and 48 Down. Plugged these in, did another test and it was 5 Up and 54 Down. Not much of a difference, but here's the thing. You don't have to worry about signal strength and you also have to cosnsider other devices and the numbers will dip when you stream or upload stuff. With Wi Fi my numbers could go down into the sub 1meg Upload while I was trying to stream or had other devices connected to the Wi Fi. It barely dips at all now. Consistency is what it gives you that's most important and don't forget about that signal strength issue that you won't have to deal with anymore. Seeing the numbs go up is great, but what's better is not seeing the numbers drop.
If all of your other devices run off of WiFi, the one device you run this on via LAN will be prioritized signal strength wise.
Atleast for me that's how it goes when I look online at what each device is pulling. Maybe it's a Xfinity thing 🤷♂️
@@D3ityCthulhu I have a TV which I've experimented running ethernet and wi fi as it's pretty close to the router and I do know that when it's plugged in as you say it does seem to prioritise it. The problem i often had was that my PS4 is nestled away in a little shelf under my TV in my bedroom surrounded by other equipment and it was cutting the signal strength by so much. Moving it around helped, but it was the only room in my house I could theoretically have it. When I plugged this in I ran a few streaming test as I have done in the past and the difference is very noticeable. I suffered a lot with cut offs mid stream and just constant dips in quality, audio or visual cut offs etc. I've only had it since yesterday, but already I can tell that this is going to make streaming a more pleasant experience. I tend to turn off and disconnect devices I don't use anyway and I only stream when I'm alone in the house. Wi Fi signal was about 45 - 55% typically. Not good when you're trying to consistently stream for a couple of hours.
Absolutely agree man. I would not be able to make the level of content I do, nor stream on Twitch if it wasn't for this device.
Glad this is helping so much!
@@D3ityCthulhu Even the best Wi Fi can't compete with wired. i got ones with a socket pass-through too so I'm not losing any electrical sockets.
@@JamesCarmichael as did I. Thank goodness they have higher end variants like that.
Hey is it easy to set up? I'm thinking of using the adapter with a wired connection

You're very welcome.
It comes in a set of two. I only need 3. One for the router, and one for my Xbox and one for roommates Xbox. Can’t find how to buy only 3.
There is no other way.
They come in sets of two because they require a pair to physically function.
@@D3ityCthulhu so I ordered two sets a little bit earlier. One for the router And then the other two can each pair to the one that’s hooked up to the router? And then the 4th I’ll have as backup or try and sell. That works right?
@isaac marin think of this item like a plug and outlet. If you plug in the item into the outlet it turns on and works right? If you unplug it you have two items that don't work because they need each other to work.
That's what this device is. One end is used to send the signal and one is to receive it. You buy both sets you have to use all 4 pieces, because if you try to use 1 out 2 pieces it will not psychically function.
@@D3ityCthulhu so it only works for one device?
Me and my roommate each have an Xbox in our own room. And right now we each have an eternet cable running through the house to the router. I bought 2 sets in hope that we can each pair the device in our room to the one paired to the router

@@k3nnysensei you don't have to go with this exact model if you don't want to.

What if the router is NOT in the same House but sideways
I'm sorry I don't understand what you're asking with the current wording.
