Does this fix the issue most PS5 users have that the PS5 says that the router does not support IP-Fragment, and that the console has been limited because of it?
1-100% confirm disable IPV6 improves everything on PS5 2- PS5 prefer 2.4Ghz in general so I recommend 2.4Ghz especially if your router supports wifi6. I will try Google DNS!, I tried Google DNS not good actually 👎🏻 my ISP DNS much much better, and I change DNS from router settings to make sure!
I have only experienced slow wifi once on PS5. And that's probably because someone moved the router closer to the ground and further away from where my PS5 is located.
That is correct. It is easier for a wireless signal to travel down than up. Also the further away you are from the router, the likelihood of it moving you to the slower, further reaching frequency of 2.4 Ghz instead of the faster, shorter range 5 Ghz.
Hi John! I have a question that i always forgot to make but finally i reminded it... How do you keep your PS controllers so clean? I always wash my hands as soon as they start sweating but my controllers became shiny allover the plastic cover (normally they are supposed to have a matte paint but they become "smoother" after a while that i use them), which annoy me a bit because i would like to keep them as clean and as new as possible. Hope you have some tips and tricks about it because i really need to know it 😂😂 Also nice video as always, you never stop surprising me with those tips and tricks, very usefull and very high quality contents. I bought a box of Alcohol wipes that I keep near by. It takes the dirt right off. The granulated texture on the PS5 controller seems to naturally pull dirt off my hands, despite washing them before almost every use. Alcohol wipes are the only thing that seem to do the trick and it's very easy to clean

Another video with misinformation about DNS. It has nothing to do with download speeds. It can improve domain name resolution faster, but that's it. In 2021, it's not recommended to disable IPv6. Modern OS's use IPv6 internally, and it can break functions in them. This especially can occur in server OS's like Windows Server 2016/2019. Microsoft does not recommend disabling IPv6 or unchecking the box in Windows either. It just unbinds it from the NIC and doesn't actually disable it completely. In Windows you have to go into the registry and tweak it to disable it. Still not recommended.
Actually you're wrong You need to do your research before you make a comment and accuse people of misinformation You obviously do not understand what is domain name server It's not strictly designed to improve web browsing It also increases your download and upload speed It also helps lower your ping I'm using Google DNS is the most recommended it has overall the best security and it will improve your online gaming forever I have been using it for years I can't simply play online games without it because for some reason my internet service provider optimum doesn't have very good ping🤦♂️
You mentioned it yourself... some modern OS's like Server 16/19 use IPV6 internally. This has nothing to do with the internet connection itself. Setting it to Google DNS or some other big DNS providers generally improves the speed because the ISP's have a bad DNS. Sometimes even gaming over a VPN improves the latency because you may have less hops to the gaming servers. But this is a rare case nowadays.
if i have a cat8 & cat6, which should i use. Heard cat8 is overkill but would that be better than the cat6 anyway. i have 500 download & 20 upload speed. By overkill do they mean if you're not pushing a lot of data through u dont need it cuz it could actually slow it down
Hi there, so as of late my PS5 has been experiencing “wired connection” issues. So when I turn my PS5 and say I got to see my PS network status it says “unknown” and the PS store is not accessible. However, if I play say FIFA23 online I play with no problems. I have no idea why the PS store does not connect and my online PS Network status says unknown. My work around is unplugging my LAN cable from the back of my modem and plugging it back in and all of the sudden my status shows “online” and I am able to go shopping. If any one is experiencing this and solved it please let me know. Thank you in advance

Downloads in the background? Ps5 downloads full speed in the background unlike ps4 and then all the bandwidth is used up and causes bufferbloat, quite stupid. Like a good router can't even help because it's the same device I think, the ps5 causes this problem to itself.
Spectrum coming tomorrow moved to a new place and even with wired my games pick and choose when to have high latency. First time they came out they said speeds are where it’s supposed to be. So idk if it’s servers to blame the internet or my ps5
Just setup my new PS5 and my download speed is stuck somewhere between 35 to 40 mbs while I have a 350mbs dowload router. When I check my PS4 in another room (even with the same cable) I get a 300+ download speed. Why!?
I like your videos and find them very useful. But changing DNS settings have no effect on download speeds in any computer or game console. DNS is only used to determine the ip of the target system, that is it.
Actually you're wrong If you don't know exactly what you're saying then don't say it at all Do your research before you make a comment 🤦♂️ changing the DNS actually does improve your download speed and upload speed and it also helps lower your ping It depends which DNS you are using the majority of gamers use Google DNS because it is overall a reliable secure DNS I have been using Google DNS all my life I can't simply play online games without it because for some reason my internet service provider from optimum is not that great 🤦♂️
@@HeyCMDR1991YT Dns has nothing to do with the download speed itself. It only helps you find the IP address of the host that you are trying to reach to. Just a quick question but does anybody PS5 console ever get a little bit dusty in the inside of the fans. Does it need to be clean like every month or 2x a week? I'm kinda afraid to take off the plates to clean the inside of my PS5 since day 1🤔🤔
No need to worry. The plates were meant to come off so you can clean out the dust catchers and the fans. If you're using a vacuum, be sure to use a plastic attachment on the end to be safer. They seem to snap in and out relatively easily too.

hey there.. so i’ve been having this issue where ive been having so much input lag on my PS5, even my ps4 and i think it has to do with certain electronic devices we have at home. Im not sure but im guessing the delay/input lag i have comes from dirty electricity or that one electronic device such as an old PC or a newer pc has the wrong voltage settings. So my PS5 gets very hot and the input lag i have is huge. Like the games i play arent playable at all. Is there any way to fix this with another cable or do you have any tips ? Im wired and i mostly play on 10-20ms and i have a gaming screen with 1ms as well. Been going on like this for years i would pay so much to fix it
5 ghz all the way! Thanks for the info.
You're welcome
@@JohnGlasscock one more thing, keep up the good work. I don't own a ps5 as yet, but I have a folder with your tips and tricks saved for when I do get one.

Hiya John, what Ethernet cables would you recommend using for your PlayStation 5? I'm using a Netgear router not sure what wire is best though.
The higher the CAT number is the better the speeds will be as long as you have fast internet, I have 1gb plus internet and use a CAT8 cable for my PS5 and my speeds are 800mbps + hardwired in
@@dethtopedophiles3870 which cat8 cable did you buy?

Please do about a video port forwarding for PlayStation network servers
Will do!
My only issues that you didn't tell us how to get to those settings cuz I've been trying to and I can't get to them
I uses a Direct RJ45 Cable and Gigabit Internet. I want to be able to reduce Latency with Warzone and other FPS Games. You should do a video on that..
@John glasscock do you still use S8000 smart switch? Or now you use the netduma?
What about upload speed?my ps4 on a wifi with NAT3 is still getting a faster upload speed than my ps5,either thru wired connection or wifi on any NAT type.both consoles also sat next to router
When I was a kid I used to think wired was lame and not cool. I used to think to myself why would anyone ever choose to be wired when you have wireless, it just seemed like a no brainer. Now it all makes sense
Does anyone know the best ethernet cable cat# for the ps5? I'm currently trying to find but there are so many that say cat 8 is not worth it and a wack load saying cat 8 is amazing for it
I’m wired and when I do a speed test through the built in ps5 test my upload speed is 12mbps while my download is 811mbps. If I go to the www through the ps5 and do a polka speed test I’m like 811 up and 800 down. So something is off with the ps servers.
Needed this a couple weeks ago
Thank you so much! I'll try it!

John you should make video on why the ps5 shuts off while your playing the game. The issue is happening to one of my friends.
@Devin Isaacson 😒
Please add tests: before and after
You didn’t explain why IPv6 is causing the issues potentially
Can you help me figure out why my upload is showing no where near the speed i should be getting, its currently showing between 3mbps and 15 and i should be getting over 100mbps. Iv tried everything to my knowledge and i can't figure it out
I’m a having a error message for playing gta online saying Files required to play GTA Online could not be downloaded from the Rockstar Games

So nice of you. thanks
Does this fix the issue most PS5 users have that the PS5 says that the router does not support IP-Fragment, and that the console has been limited because of it?
If you are loading up Netflix add another profile named no dns.. as Netflix doesn’t work with a custom dns
Wired connection on a 1GPS Fiber Optic ISP! On my PSN download test, I'm getting around 930MBPS down and 650MBPS up. Who's getting better?
1-100% confirm disable IPV6 improves everything on PS5
2- PS5 prefer 2.4Ghz in general so I recommend 2.4Ghz especially if your router supports wifi6.
I will try Google DNS!, I tried Google DNS not good actually 👎🏻 my ISP DNS much much better, and I change DNS from router settings to make sure!
All my experience with 2.4ghz wifi was terrible so far. 5ghz runs like wire. I don't know why you'd recommend 2.4
Me I got a wireless 400 mb/5 connection and I only got 10 ms. But it’s also 5ghz
@@daniel_960_ yeah 2.4 is shit
I have only experienced slow wifi once on PS5. And that's probably because someone moved the router closer to the ground and further away from where my PS5 is located.
That is correct. It is easier for a wireless signal to travel down than up. Also the further away you are from the router, the likelihood of it moving you to the slower, further reaching frequency of 2.4 Ghz instead of the faster, shorter range 5 Ghz.
Thanks for the huge tip
Hope you have some tips and tricks about it because i really need to know it 😂😂
Also nice video as always, you never stop surprising me with those tips and tricks, very usefull and very high quality contents. Keep up the great work 😉😎
I bought a box of Alcohol wipes that I keep near by. It takes the dirt right off. The granulated texture on the PS5 controller seems to naturally pull dirt off my hands, despite washing them before almost every use. Alcohol wipes are the only thing that seem to do the trick and it's very easy to clean
All controllers get shiny over time its just the use of the controller your hands rip the matte off of it
@@RS4AWLEY i guess i'll try it, thanks 😉
@@Moapin wish there was a way to avoid this, normally with the white one it's not that visible when it get shiny, but with the black one you can see it even better.
@@LesterCrest1 yea I had a white ps4 controller and a black and my white one was not shiny at all much yet I used it for almost a year same with my ps5 one

when i switched to wired connection, when i try to turn it back on i have to manually reconnect to the internet. is there a way to fix this?
hello I have a question, my internet provider is cox and I have 500 mgps and my modem is connected by ethernet cable to my ps4 but I keep connecting to high ping in warzone, will you have any idea to help me lower the connection to ping. thank you
I have a cat6 and it isnt lowering my fort ping ingame what should i do?
By overkill do they mean if you're not pushing a lot of data through u dont need it cuz it could actually slow it down
Did you find out?

What can u do when I play with the Hotspot from your phone? On py4 it wasn't a big problem but on ps5 my internet is to laggy
What monitor do you use john ?
Hi there, so as of late my PS5 has been experiencing “wired connection” issues. So when I turn my PS5 and say I got to see my PS network status it says “unknown” and the PS store is not accessible. However, if I play say FIFA23 online I play with no problems. I have no idea why the PS store does not connect and my online PS Network status says unknown. My work around is unplugging my LAN cable from the back of my modem and plugging it back in and all of the sudden my status shows “online” and I am able to go shopping. If any one is experiencing this and solved it please let me know. Thank you in advance
Thanks you so much! I went from 32mb/s to 1,5mb/s.
Hey John any tips how to get a better Wi-Fi signal i live in a apartment with free Wi-Fi but don’t have access to the router . I’m using a tplink Wi-Fi extender it helps but still lags . Is there any better options out there to boost my signal instead of getting the landlord to run a Ethernet cable to me ? Thanks
I get random lag spikes with my ps5 on a wired connection and my speeds and ping in game is great but I still get random lag spikes in cod and stuff. Even my friends in the party chat say my voice is lagging. I never had these issues with my PS4 pro on a wired connection. Please help
Downloads in the background? Ps5 downloads full speed in the background unlike ps4 and then all the bandwidth is used up and causes bufferbloat, quite stupid.
Like a good router can't even help because it's the same device I think, the ps5 causes this problem to itself.
I have 3mbps data plan and I want to download GTA 5 ps5 version but it takes long to download which Ethernet do you think I need ?
bro you just need better internet
@@cc.tonyyy bro it's the only internet available in my area
Maybe your dns is not good enough to find the IP addresses of those games you mention that is why use you are using Google dns. It is easy to try test download speeds with Google and nongoogle dns. They will be mostly the same
An you do a video on how to reduce input lag in Ps5?
Thanks i will try it when i get a ps5🌚✌
Do you know anything about the series x or just the ps5
Just a quick question but does anybody PS5 console ever get a little bit dusty in the inside of the fans. Does it need to be clean like every month or 2x a week? I'm kinda afraid to take off the plates to clean the inside of my PS5 since day 1🤔🤔
No need to worry. The plates were meant to come off so you can clean out the dust catchers and the fans. If you're using a vacuum, be sure to use a plastic attachment on the end to be safer. They seem to snap in and out relatively easily too.
Make sure to use a cat 8 Ethernet cable for fastest speeds as wel
just use cat6a because the ps5 can't use cat8 speeds
