I just ordered one and got it- I MAY be wrong, but it looks like you installed it upside down? In the directions it mentions different ways to mount and when the "bottom" is facing down, the power cord is on the drivers side. (that does NOT make sense to me because battery is on passenger side) And when I got it, the cover has a RC on it and when faced in appropriate position, the power cord is again on the driver side. I imagine it really doesn't matter - the only thing is the top and bottom of the lightbar look a little different.

So how exactly did you guys add this to the built-in aux for the Jeep wrangler? I’m ready to purchase the light bar from you guys but I’m hesitant on the install, the light has a switch. Is the switch separate form the provided wiring harness?

I wired the 40 amp (tan/aux switch 1) because I'm using the smaller two 15 amp switches for pod lights. Works like a charm, but can't answer with any expertise on if this is good, bad, or indifferent, on proper setup.

I decided that I would just try to figure it out and I finally got it working with the aux switch in my Rubicon. Here is what I did...I took the harness that came with the light bar and removed the heat shrink wrap that is around the relay. This will expose the connection points for the 3 main wires that make up the harness which are: 1. The leads to positive (red) and ground (black) 2. The switch that came with the light bar 3. The plug that connects the harness to the light bar itself. I opened the top of the relay and pushed all the connectors out. You will see the three wires that lead to the switch that came with the light bar which are blue, white and black (the skinnny black wire). The blue wire is on it's own and you don't need to worry about that one. The white wire is soldered to a red wire, and the skinny black wire is attached to the other 2 thicker black wires. You can cut away the white wire and the skinny black wire becasue you won't need them since you don't need the switch that came with the light bar. This is where you will now create a new harness which will have one end that leads to the plug for the light bar, and the other end will be the leads for the positive and ground wires. So you have to solder together the 2 red wires that you have left in the middle, and then cover the conenction with some heat shink. You don't need to do anything to the black wires since they are already connected, but again to keep everything safe and neat, I covered the end of it with some heat shink too. Now you can attach the plug from the reconfigured harness to the connector on the light bar. On the other end of the reconfigured harness you should now just have the red and black wires with the eyelet connectors at the end. Ground the black wire to the car or the battery...I found that grounding to the car was easier since the cable is not very long. Then you can remove the eyelet from the red wire and just solder it to whichever aux switch you want to use. That is all! If you have any questions, just let me know...hope this helps someone!

I have contacted both Rough Country and CJ Pony Parts and no one seems to have an answer for how to wire the lights to the aux switch. The Rough Country guy didn't even know the JL had an aux switch option in it so his only answer was "just run the switch the light came with into the cab"...well thanks for the advice. I paid to have an aux switch and you are telling me to not use it. The guy at CJ Pony Parts said he didn't understand the wiring details. He said he would try his best to find out but he wasn't going to make any promises since he has no way of contacting the guys that make the videos. I am super upset...if you are going to say that something works but then can't explain it fully, how do you expect people to make it work?? Neither company even has instructions on their websites for the install. I would really appreciate it if CJ Pony Parts would explain the full wiring process from the light harness that comes with the lights to the aux switch. I am clearly not the only one having the issue.

    • @CJBroncoF150

In the passenger side of your engine bay there are 4 auxiliary switch outputs that have black heatshrink over the end of each of them. Attach the RED wire of the rough country light bar to one of the 4 switches, and then put a ring terminal on the BLACK wire of the rough country light bar, and ground it on the stud right next to the AUX wires.

CJ Off-Road I did this part and the only way the aux switch work is if I have the RC button connect to the wiring harness and pushed on. But if you remove the RC wiring harness button, the Mopar aux switch won’t work for that connected wire port in my case AUX 1. Any answers to this ?
